Back to the fold with the first extract taken from his upcoming debut long-player on A Tribe Called Kotori, Fabian Krooss takes us to a delicate and transporting headspace with his twofold single, "Oh Darlin'". Infused with laid-back Chicagoan rhythms and feelgood Afro soulfulness, this opening brace of cuts from the German producer weaves solar-powered sensitivity with vaporous floor dynamics to hypnotic effect. An ode to impro and the free-flowing power of gut instinct, Krooss' newest offering translates thousands of places, feelings, moments and encounters into a buoyant melting-pot of debonair grooviness. "Producing has a meditative and balancing effect on me" Krooss says, and it definitely shines through in these, as we're taken on a seamless ride up serene moodscapes and ethereal club-ready apexes.  

A track that "captures my musical vision like no other" in Krooss' own admission, "Oh Darlin'" oozes a cross-pollinating elixir of hi-NRG house and folk-informed downtempo, gracefully threading its way in limbo between proper DJ-friendly functionality and loungey hedonism. Composed earlier this year and refined over the summer, "Oh Darlin'" stacks positive energies and beams them across the room like a vital call to channel the good vibes and move in the direction of love and unity. The second track, "Staring", recorded in collaboration with Samaha during his stay in Seattle in March 2023, engineers a nice mix of both artists' distinct melodic universes, while encapsulating memories from Krooss' journey in North America. A further balmy slice of atmospheric electronica tinged with hints of dream-pop and balearic house, "Staring" cruises at its own tranquil pace across colour-shifting horizons and gently jagged reliefs, ready to soak up full sound systems with its soothing, poetic funk. Lush as it gets.

Frequent collaborators Robin Schellenberg & Rauschhaus present the ‘I Am Not My Ego’ EP on When We Dip XYZ. On this two-tracker, the seasoned producers serve a masterclass in melodic techno, fusing creative transitions and ambiguous emotions into a dark ambience. 

The title track, ‘I Am Not My Ego’, begins its pace with ominous bass stabs and a nimbling arp. An hypnotizing synth line then adds to the track's daunting vibe, as sighing ad-libs release the ever-building tension. 

On ‘Rise Of Thoughts’, the dynamic groove goes back and forth with its assorted counter-melodies. The hopeful progression of the breakdown leads into a stripped-back drop topped-off by industrial textures and effects.

Title track 'Electric Dance' is a real earworm; 'I'll Be There' sounds like it should be in a film score about a crime thriller in outer space. ‘Music is my anchor, my passion, my favorite form of expression’, Fabian says, adding: ‘I want to surprise’. It’s this belief in freedom that drives his work as an artist, unafraid to experiment and craft a profoundly personal sound in the process. A juxtaposition often sits at the heart of his tracks, as Fabian sprinkles lush or mischievous melodies over springy, sometimes elastic and other times static rhythms, nodding to organic and minimal house at once. It’s Fabian’s deep-rooted feeling for sound that fuse these disparate motifs into an irresistible whole as his productions unfold and flourish with intricate details and surprising touches, always united under a tight groove.

All of these addictive attributes are equally omnipresent when Fabian helms the booth – with a nonchalance rooted in pure joy that’s perceivable in an instant. Here, again, he intrinsically becomes the storyteller, weaving an authentic narrative while turning the room upside down. Whether that’s with a sunny selection at Sisyphos' Strand, peak-time power at Bucht der Träumer, sunrise vibes at Garbicz Festival and Fusion Festival or a proper 3h33m33s journey for Flow Music. While by no means a recent presence in Berlin with regular appearances at favourites like Kater Blau or Sisyphos, the last years took Fabian further afield to festivals like Mezcal Amores in Oaxaca,  Beneath the Baobabs in Kenia, institutions such as Woomoon in Ibiza, MN Roy in Mexico City or Klein Phönix in Istanbul and many more destinations all around the globe. 

With itchy feet for the floor and a bright future ahead, Fabian’s firmly set sail to bring his sound to the world – enabling big emotions and wide smiles in the meantime by way of his ever-evolving, always-sparkling music.
