2014 saw Steyoyoke Recordings put the finishing touches to their artist roster and the label is now experiencing an ongoing creative continuum, bringing Steyoyoke to its current state of musical solidarity. ‘Family Affair Vol.04’ is a testament to this, as it provokes new inspiring ways for the artists to inspire and influence each other. Split across two separate releases, Part 1 and Part 2, “Family Affair Vol.04’ comprises of 9 remixes, which sees all the Steyoyoke artists adding their own personal flavours to some of 2014’s biggest tracks.

Part 1.
Soul Button’s remix of ‘First Glimpse’ by Aki Bergen is the curtain raiser. Possessing a little more energy than the original, this remix boasts an alluring new intensity and vibe. It is captivating and uplifting.
Next up, is Aaryon’s remix of Soul Button & Talul’s ‘Chasing Thoughts’. Building upon the intricate layers already existing within the original, Aaryon intertwines edgier synth flurries and a more sinister bass line.
‘Hydra’ by Animal Picnic is remixed by Nick Devon, who chooses to focus on the originals unyielding drive. Nick really draws out the true ruthlessness of this track, with techno influences infiltrating this remix from start to finish.
Dahu takes on the remix of Aki Bergen’s ‘Helix’ and he customises it with some menacing elements. He does however maintain the originals “raw minimal techno groove” and garnishes this with industrial style accents.
The final track on Part 1 is Ran Salman’s version of ‘7th Heaven’ by Soul Button. Opting for a slightly punchier sound, Ran enlivens his remix by incorporating a few extra synth riffs and a bouncer bass line.

Over the years, Oliver Koletzki has continuously cited Berlin as a point of reference and, more importantly, a source of inspiration. Two of his albums Großstadtmärchen and Großstadtmärchen 2 have been a direct ode to the capital. Friedrichshain, one of Berlins vibrant districts, has always held a special place in Olivers heat. This is where he started out when he first moved to the city, and this is where he lives now. Schneeweiss, one of Friedrichhain's best and most loved restaurants, is just around the corner. Previously spotted on the likes of Deeperfect, Moan Recordings, Bla Bla and Solar Distance, here they make their MOOD debut with two show-stopping compositions. 'Universe Gate' is a hurricane of a production as it subtly sets an atmosphere only to whip it up uncontrollably in a blink-and-miss build that's strong enough to open portals into whole new dimensions. 

'Recycled', meanwhile, smelts down a slug-like bassline, rising chords and sweeping synths into a string-soaking emotional breakdown. With a broadside groove that pumps and sparkling hi-hat roll that accentuates the momentum and drive, for a tune called 'Recycled' it's resoundingly fresh… Just like the future for Lower & Osp. Skober makes a debut on We Are The Brave with a no-holds-barred, two track party starter. Renowned for his versatile but always-dynamic style, Skober tracks are characterized by big musical moments, strong builds and heavy hitting drops. He is a natural entertainer and this comes across in his music and performances and makes him a real fans favorite. Does that sound like someone else we know? We think so too! So what’s the story behind the release? Who better to ask than Alan himself?

“If I love it, then we will release it...” was Fitzpatrick’s typically succinct response when quizzed on his thoughts behind Skober’s two-track single. “I am fortunate enough to get sent a lot of unreleased music but I knew as soon as I first played these tracks from Skober that they were going to be a big part of my sets all summer and that’s about as far as the A&R thought process needs to go as far as I am concerned – if the tunes goes of on the floor then they are right for the label”.

Simplicity is the key then it seems; and it is hard to argue with that philosophy. Particularly in the context of a new record label looking to make it’s way within an ultra competitive and increasingly crowded market place. It is certainly never a bad thing to try and break things down to the essentials - what really matters - and when it comes to bring Brave, that’s what it is all about – go with your gut, follow your heart, don’t be scared to trust your feelings.

Headed by a Carioca who was blessed with the name of
his own hometown, MooDisco contains a 3-track bomb from Leo Janeiro with DOC label boss Gui Boratto and a very special remix by French act Rodriguez Jr.  

This could just be a happy coincidence, where it’s not for the fact that Leo’s trajectory made him a protagonist of the electronic music scene in his hometown, Rio de Janeiro.  He built a career dedicated to music. In a city with so many daytime attractions, it is the night and electronic music that has been blessed with his talent.  He has compiled an impressive list of residencies and performances globally. Known as one of the ambassadors for Brazilian electronic music, Leo has the ability to combine originality with a universal language. Just like his hometown.

On this limited edition vinyl and digital release, Leo Janeiro, Gui Boratto and Rodriguez Jr. present a serious track sequence of techno and house beats. Each artist has kept its own trademark.  ”I had a lot of ideas and one of them was to have a remix by an artist that I admire, respect and have a personal relationship”, says Leo Janeiro.

Rodriguez Jr. (Oliver Mateu), shared his unique talent creating a remix for MooDisco.  He is the one half of French electro act The Youngsters – best known for their two studio albums and singles for Laurent Garnier’s label. Rodriguez Jr. reveals a different incarnation of Mateu’s musical psyche; moving through shimmering, contemplative electronica, to deep and urgent techno, leftfield melodic accents and quirky pop refrains.  A perfect blend for this project.

MoodDisco is a combination of artists and friends on the move. They are tireless in enthusiasm and are bursting with new tunes and projects.

A straight punch EP release with serious beats, deep melodies and the synth keys we just love to listen over and over!
