Astral Records opens the summer season with a new collaborative project from Far Distance and Atom (IE). With a career that spans the better part of a decade, Far Distance has more than etched his place in electronic music's trend driven underground. Their amalgamation of progressive and melodic house has found a home on Einmusika, Freegrant Music, Perspectives Digital, Somatic and more; while world class DJs Lane 8, Kevin de Vries and Solomun have been regular supporters. Meanwhile, Irish artist Atom (IE) shies away from the public eye, feeling that his identity should not be a role in his music, which explains his relative obscurity, instead wanting the music to be the project's sole focus. A short but meticulous discography is highlighted by releases via Be Free, Future Romance, Univack and Us and Them Records, where his astral sound has flourished. Now, combining their extensive forces for Astral Records, Far Distance and Atom (IE) unveil their collaborative debut ‘Harmonious'.

Beginning with the trance-inspired monochromes of ‘Harmonious', the duo craftsmanship reveals itself, as nostalgic melodies flicker atop titanic kick drums and machine-gun style grooves, eventually leading to a thought-provoking break. Highlighted by a spoken word vocal-sample, its breathy suspense eventually gives way to symphonic synth phrasing, tactfully elevating mood, before devilish mutations spark a euphoric finale.

The charged aesthetic continues on companion piece ‘Keeps Me Alive'. The duo expounds their lavish future vision here, with obsessive rhythms, sci-fi vocal samples and hyperspace melodies blanketing punishing beats and crunchy grooves. Clever vocal co-actions marry metallic motifs throughout, while a pyrotechnic break preludes a finale of boundless energy that is perfectly dialed for peak time play.

Underground mainstay Lehar then takes things into trance tinged territory with his bright synths and the Fatum remix will get hands in the air with its epic chords. Fresh off the back of Henri Bergmann's standout new tune 'Come On' with Wennink, comes three special remixes from Yet More, ORISS & Fur Coat. The original, released on Bergmann's own Automatik label, is a darkly alluring electronic cut with an anthemic vocal and snappy drums that make floors march. Henri Bergmann continues to pave her own unique path in the underground music scene with every new production she puts out. The first remix is by French artist Teymour Khalatbari aka Yet More who has worked with the likes of Innervisions, MoBlack, as well as featuring on Automatik's inaugural VA. His disco rework has an askew lead synth line with extra punches added into the percussion. The starry melodies twinkle up top creating a bright, intense, and edgy record, preparing us for those imminent summer days into nights. Next up is Ori Savion, also known as ORISS. He has worked under a handful of aliases and has placed his songs on reputable labels like Syncopate and Kinetika. With a frazzled bassline and flashy synths, ORISS's rework invites peak time energy and gets hands in the air. The last remix comes from Øddity label owner and seasoned producer Fur Coat. His remix retains the key elements of the original while adding his own recognizable sound to the rework. Dark and chuggy with electro synths, Fur Coat's remix brings new meaning to peak time energy. These remixes add a fresh perspective to the fantastic original.
