With much pride we present to you the first WEITER EP from 2018, a package containing remixes from Olivier Weiter & Alex Preda’s “Zebra & Moods” EP, released earlier in 2017.

With this package the label shows its musical variety, a remix for every moment, a remix for every mood. 

Kicking off with Ramon Tapia, who delivered a massive dance floor bomb interpretation of “Zebra”, taking you on a heavy techno trip. Made for the peak-time moments, the 4/4 in your face pumping sound of Ramon Tapia will do heavy damage on the dance floor. No time for emotional serenades, its all about basses and massive drops here! 

Melodic maestro Einmusik is taking you on a very emotional, melodic highway with his version of Zebra. Layer after layer, the uplifting melodies and subtle changes in the arrangement let you float away. Combined with Einmusik’s signature drums, it doesn’t loose the groove while in the meantime the track is reaching for the stars. Warm and melodic is the best way to describe this beautiful Einmusik remix of Zebra. 

Donatello made a re interpretation of “Moods” and is best described as tech house with a progressive twist. Vibing along the way, subtle parts of the original track are blending with Donatello’s years of experience as a top-notch producer. He made the original more dance floor friendlier and accessible. Donatello couldn’t be missed on this package, after delivering a massive debut EP on WEITER last year. We are very happy to have him on board again, and this remix shows why. 

To close the package, we have a very smooth remix from “Staves”, discovered by their latest remix on Nick Warren’s label the Soundgarden. Staves made a steady, groovy remix of Zebra, inspired by afterhours, sunsets, beaches and outdoor locations. Laidback, without loosing energy. A must have.

Following his much-loved remixes of Maribou State and ODESZA released on Anjunadeep in 2015, label favourite Daniel Goldstein aka Lane 8 returns with two stellar reworks of George FitzGerald’s 2017 anthem ‘Burns’.

Lane 8’s ‘Morning Mix’ is an ode to the lush atmosphere of the original, a highlight from George’s sophomore album ‘All That Must Be’ released earlier this year on Domino. With the original’s mesmerising vocal chops front and centre, Goldstein blends tranquil piano arpeggios and stuttering synth stabs to create a pensive soundscape imbued with melancholy.

The ‘Club Mix’ is a showcase of Lane 8’s trademark sound. Detuned chords, void-like atmospheres, and a thumping four-to-the-floor kick drum combine to create a fierce peak-time soundtrack.

DGTL Records hits close to home with their latest release ‘Dancing Glass Figures’ by De Sluwe Vos. The dj/producer has been affiliated with DGTL since the beginning, as he played at numerous of their festivals from day one. So it was only a matter of time for De Sluwe Vos to release his music on DGTL’s label. With Dancing Glass Figures he delivers a strong 4- tracker that is truly hard to resist. De Sluwe Vos has been making waves lately, not only with his steady sets but also with his own label Patron Records, which has seen a string of well- supported releases since its launch.
Never Know, the first track of the EP, takes no prisoners, as this straight-up banger with the hard-hitting synth line keeps you captivated throughout the entire track. The repetitive vocoder vocals give the track a spacey touch, especially during the break. De Sluwe Vos teamed-up with fellow Amsterdammer Sjamsoedin, who’s known for his exceptional synth knowledge and hard-hitting live-sets. Together they produced a strong lead track that you will definitely get to hear a lot on the dance floor.
Fast rolling drums and a dreamy warm synth lure you into the title track Dancing Glass Figures. But don’t get too comfortable, halfway into the track you will get a sturdy surprise, which only makes the track more interesting, while taking you back to where it all started at the end of it all.
Moving on to the B-side. Sophisticated Topless Raver is mesmerizing, with an intriguing and hypnotizing melody that comes and goes throughout the track. Bringing in some hard claps and an eerie laughing vocal, this track for sure is one for the later hours.
Bambounou has the honour to close-off the EP with a remix of Sophisticated Topless Raver. The French dj/producer, who’s been on everybody’s radar this past year, slowed down the original version and added a sleazy bassline, synth stabs and extra percussion, while keeping the melody and the vocal. Making the track just as enticing as De Sluwe Vos’ version.
The artwork for this EP is – again – by the talented duo Boris Acket and Tim Straver.

Dutch prodigy Budakid returns to Exploited for his third mesmerising EP on the label, with two fresh new opuses for your delectation. 

The End is one of his typically cinematic tracks, reminiscent of 90s melodic breakbeat types Hybrid. Hovering, Reese-toned bass looms subtly over intricate, light broken beats and gently enveloping string progressions. Crisp and spacious, the arrangement is honed to perfection. Muted, gated stabs echo the ghost of 90s trance in the breakdown, fusing beautifully with the breaks when the beat drops back in. Soft cymbal rides splash across the surface as the elements fuse back together for a restrained crescendo. Perfect for the afterhours or a spot of deep meditation.

Linguistic sees Budakid in more of a deep house / melodic techno mood. Subtle synth licks waft across the stereo field as live percussion forms a groove and wildlife sounds create a heady atmosphere deep in the distance. A plodding groovy bassline drives its way into the foreground, while minimialist layers of electronics build the mood. The brain-twisting breakdown makes more great use of noise gating as a dizzying lead soars and pulses. Its a great piece of work that centres more on mood and texture than melody, and in doing so recalls classic progressive house sounds.

| Friends and bandmates since they were 15 there’s a bond between T.M.A (AKA Steven Szpielmann and
Patrick Steppons) that means they have an intuitive understanding of one another. In the studio this has led to
the production of spellbinding collection of music, full of emotional depth and dynamic rhythms. The pair play
live organic instruments, guitars and drums, which they merge with an electronic setup to produce a warm,
human sound. This is evident across all three tracks on their latest EP for Hommage, Aitne.

Kicking off with the title track, we’re immediately confronted with the duo’s instinctive use of melody and
rhythm to cultivate the kind of atmosphere that envelops you from the off. A wistful, impish vocal clips drifts in
and out of the background occasionally, coaxing you into a trance-like state, while the beats keep your body
moving. Tension, drama and simmering emotion make this one a fantastic start to the EP.

Next up is ‘Eirene’, a more punchy cut with razor sharp snares and hats, combined with a dense low end
designed to pump the dance floor full of irresistible energy. The track’s blackened sheen is juxtaposed by the
lively breakdown, which lifts the mood and carries us into the vibrant second half.

Lastly, label owners Monkey Safari step up for a remix of ‘Aitne’. They add a dreamlike atmosphere to the cut,
increasing its emotional appeal. This is one for the lovers out there, who’ll be wrapped in each others’ arms on
the dance floor, as the romantic, thought-provoking melody sends them into the throes of ecstasy. |
