Today I'm reaching out to get YOU involved.

I thought it would be a great collaborative experiment to involve as many people as possible in making a music video for my new track, Salt Lake. This tune's had some outstanding responses so far.

The Stereophoenix team and I are giving you an open platform to express yourselves through the medium of video; to be a part of something special and unique.

I’m calling out to each of you to tap into your creativity and submit 1 minute of original HD video footage for the music video to Salt Lake. It's an open source approach to making a music video, giving YOU a chance to be a part of something, rather than being passive observers.

The footage can be of whatever you like. Whether it's the world around you, some of your favourite things, a snapshot of your life, something (or someone) you love, or an abstract idea, this is your chance to express yourselves... just record it on whatever device you have to hand, at the highest possible quality.

Your film must be uploaded to YouTube and private link submitted for review to info@stereophoenix.com by January 13th 2014. If your content is chosen, we’ll send you a message with further information and instructions on submitting a raw file to us through Dropbox.

We'll gather all of the footage and, working with a small team of editors, bring it all together to make the final cut.

This is new territory for us, and we're excited. Join us and let's make it happen!

The first release on our new label ‘Blue Magenta’ comes from Germany based Daniel Helmstedt. With previous records on Mango Alley and Palea Musik amongst others the gifted producer now brings us two breathtaking records. Juicebox Music's 61st release sees ARTN, aka Aly Nahleh, making his inaugural appearance on our Indian imprint with a 2-track EP featuring "Blue Frog" and "Lopos". Currently based in İzmir (Turkey), the Lebanese-born artist surfaced his ARTN project on AMPISH's label 'Sidra' in late 2019 and has since added more label associations along time - such as Mango's 'Mango Alley', Amber Long's 'Modern Agenda', Jelly For The Babies' 'One of a Kind' and Bondarev's 'WARPP'. Infusing an amalgamation of cinematic scores and exciting grooves to create his musical identity, ARTN's latest offering through this EP perfectly represents that vision.

"Blue Frog" encapsulates ARTN's idea of a musically rich composition, featuring multiple harmonious layers playing with each other in perfect polyphony, building up to deliver a heart-felt emotional scenic journey while resting on a groovy bed powered by a bubbly bassline that occasionally opens up to slip in a little touch of acid, hinting towards a little darkness in this story.

Switching up the gears, ARTN reveals "Lopos" - a powerful production aimed squarely at a dancefloor through its chunky and funky groove. Rest assured, it wouldn't be complete without a musical twist and ARTN does so by gracefully delivering an ethereal melody to facilitate a momentary flight for your soul.

The enigmatic Hyenah steps into the spotlight once again for its third Freerange release, with a remix by Frankey & Sandrino - that of which is premiering exclusively here on DHA.

Featuring on the track, The Idea, is SA’s Lazarusman who lays down his distinctive spoken-word vocals over powerful blasts of afro percussion-heavy beats on the very special remix from the German duo Frankey & Sandrino. Since their formation in late-2010, Frankey & Sandrino have released on the mighty Innervisions and Zurich-based Drumpoet regularly, in which their tracks received early spins from Dixon, Ame and Mano Le Tough.

The Idea will be release April 15th on vinyl via Freerange Records with eventual digital releases to follow May 6th.

We return with more solid dance floor business.

Columbian producer Fernando Olaya has released on such labels as Parquet Recordings, Natura Viva and System Recording, and her brings us the excellent "in Between Worlds'. This driving melodic tech'ed up solidness is a real floor destroyer, as it powers along with its underlying bass gently teased by occasional hints of melody shining through bringing a brightness to this gem.

The first of the remixes comes from Portugese based Li-Polymer, who strips things back, taking us deeper and adding a moody yet warm air of sophistication is his excellent reworking.

Belarus artsist Michael A steps us next and delivers a powerful interpretation, with its crisp beats and swaggering vibe meting nasty and gritty synths giving this a real dirty edge.

And closing things nicely, We have Mexican Jesus Nava, who delivers a typical Mexican sounding dreamy yet grooved out rework, thats subtleties are its powerful assets.

The 135th release on Movement Recordings welcomes SEQU3L back to the label for a brand new collaborative EP with Dharmalogy. Hailing from India SEQU3L is making his sixth appearance on the label while fellow countryman Dharmalogy makes his debut following releases on Barqoue Records and Bonzai Recordings. Now coming together for their much anticipated debut collaboration SEQU3L and Dharmalogy present 'Pollen / Extreme Ends' alongside remixes from Hot TuneiK, Praveen Achary and Stergios. 

The first interpretation of 'Extreme Ends' is provided by Praveen Achary who is making his first appearance on Movement Recordings. The Indian artist and Juicebox Music label boss would have to be considered his country's most recognisable progressive house artist. With his own productions gracing Cid Inc's Replug Records, Nikko.Z's Dopamine Music and Lonya's Asymmetric Recordings Praveen's been a driving force in the scene for quite some time and once again amazes with a quality remix of 'Extreme Ends'. Anchored by a smooth and spacious low end, Praveen has reshaped the elements into a deep, enchanting and irresistibly emotive journey. It's elastic-like bass changes and summery motifs are a match made in harmonic heavy and it's tasteful restraint is sure win over even the most discerning of dance floors.

EarthLife are an Italian duo based out of Ibiza, bringing their first EP, “India” to Steyoyoke. It’s an accessible release packed with 4 strong tracks – balancing heavy beats with the kind of shimmering details that give ‘Ethereal Techno’ its name. 

The EP begins with “India”, a steadily evolving track which pairs delicate synths with a compelling rhythm that ebbs and flows. “Color Of Birds” follows, adding a darker and more dynamic element. Multiple layers interact with effects that add intensity to the bass, while maintaining melodies in the higher layers. The third track, “Endless Memory”, takes a more delicate approach. EarthLife take time to create space in this track with a delicate intro, and only minimal synths, letting the production speak for itself. “Horus” closes out the EP, taking the minimal tone of the previous track and evolving these themes to a finale that speaks directly to Ethereal Techno fans.  

Overall EarthLife deliver a compelling EP which shows a mastery of tones – the first two tracks focus more on a dancefloor-friendly side of techno, while the second half of the EP brings the delicacy and minimalism. It’s an exciting release for the duo, with hopefully many more to come.
