En nuestra cuadragésima cuarta entrega tenemos el honor de presentar a Johannes Volk, artista alemán conocido por sus lanzamientos en Axis, Cocoon, Token o su propio sello Exploration.

En el fondo, es un coleccionista de vinilos y sus sesiones de DJ combinan un sonido techno de mente abierta, crudo e hipnótico. Con tan solo 14 años, Johannes entró en contacto con el Detroit Techno. Comenzó a explorar discos y comenzó a pinchar. Johannes se asoció con el techno en los clubes nocturnos ubicados entre Kassel y Frankfurt, en Downtown Records en Gießen y en un programa de radio llamado hr3 Clubnight. No pasó mucho tiempo después de eso que un Johannes obsesionado comenzó a producir su propia música. 

Su primer disco fue lanzado en Axis Records de Jeff Mills en 2006, seguido de una serie de lanzamientos de vinilo en Construct Re-form, Dolly y otros sellos, como también remixes para Efdemin y Patrice Scott.

En 2011 decidió crear su propio sello "Exploration". El sello está dedicado al techno conceptual y la música de ciencia ficción y le ha dado total libertad creativa.

Durante los últimos años, Johannes ganó mucha experiencia como DJ y tocó en muchos lugares de Europa, como Berghain, Corsica Studios, Concrete, Panorama Bar, Tresor, Rex Club y muchos más.

As usual, we try and let the mix do most of the talking. She brings a deadly techno mix filled with excellent underground tracks and excellent mixing, as I've come to expect from Tasha. Listening to her sets is always a treat.

She has played all over from London to Australia, including festivals Glastonbury & Dimensions. She plays regularly at Tresor, HÖR, Fabric and Fold. She also has a monthly residency on @rinsefm - first Friday of the month 23:00-01:00 BST.

In 2016 Tasha launched the label Neighbourhood. Look out for new releases coming out this year!

The Zenker Brothers run the fantastic and EE fav label, Ilian Tape, chosen as one of my top 10 labels of 2015. 

Founded in 2007 by the Zenker Brothers and Mueller, over the years artists from all over the place e.g Argentina, Serbia, Italy, USA or Japan have joined the family and contributed to define a diverse but always personal label sound. It’s not about big clean studio productions, but more about the human touch in music.

Sync 24 (Phil Bolland) is an electro artist and DJ, label boss of Cultivated Electronics and promoter of London based Electro night Scand. He has also recorded under the name MMT-8 with Ed DMX and Signal Type with Matt Whitehead.
 
Phil’s first exposure onto the electro scene as Sync 24 was in 2003 when he had two releases on Andrea Parker’s label Touchin Bass. In 2007 he started his own label Cultivated Electronics which has gone from strength to strength, releasing his own material along with artists as diverse as ERP, DMX Krew, James T Cottton, Radioactive Man, The Exaltics, Morphology and Silicon Scally. Distributed by Clone, the label is now an established underground purveyor pushing the electro sound for over a decade.
 
Sync 24’s production and sets combine dark and moody with the funk. With releases on Electrix, Solar One, C.P.U and his own Cultivated Electronics his music is being championed by respected Dj’s such as Dave Clarke, DJ Stingray and Helena Hauff. His sets are always geared towards getting the party moving!

Despite having a discography that dates back to the last millennium, Pittsburgh’s Shawn Rudiman has never quite enjoyed the spotlight he deserves. His often analog electro and techno manages to be tough but not austere, and it has come under his own name as well as in the duo THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) on a range of boutique labels. He’s a prolific artist who this month looks back on his career with a two disc retrospective, Timespan on Pittsburgh Tracks, that offers largely brand new tracks which “go from base-level warehouse to more cerebral sophistication”. 

That versatility shows when he lays down one of his mesmeric live shows, as he has done for us in this exclusive new set. It’s just 45 minutes long but packs a lot in, from soul infused Detroit techno to elastic house. Passages of serenity are often followed by a heavily percussive wake-up call or serrated acid line, but never do things feel forced. From dark to light, visceral to beautiful, it has many different moods and is a great reminder of the talents of one of techno’s lesser known stars.

Project 313 is the creative collaboration of Detroit based techno producers, Chad Parraghi and Nick Bien. They each made their DJ debut in the 1990’s, and have been performing at underground events, nightclubs and festivals across North America and Europe ever since. During their performances you can expect to hear post-apocalyptic hypnotic sounds that result in an unique aural experience.

In 2007 Chad & Nick the created the full service techno outlet Blank Code. Since then, Blank Code events have been a regular fixture to the Detroit techno community hosting events including: the “Substance Detroit” event series (a Movement Official after hours collaboration with Function of Sandwell District), the “Friendly Integration” event series (a collaboration with the record label Detroit Underground) and the most recent “Scene” event series which has hosted artists such as Luke Slater, DVS1, Silent Servant, Truncate, Rrose, Tommy Four Seven, Brian Sanhaji, Jay Denham, Drumcell and many more. 

In early 2012, Blank Code launched their record label and have consistently released high quality records including originals and remixes by artists such as Drumcell, Audio Injection, Luis Flores, Alberto Pascual, and Bas Mooy to name a few. Project 313 has released their music on Blank Code records and D-Records both based in Detroit. Their Mutate ‘Circle 2′ remix has been supported by artists such as Speedy J, Chris Liebing, Exium, and Brendon Moeller to name a few. Their most recent release on Blank Code came out under the imprint Bodies in Pawn - "Null" compilation with original mixes by Audio Injection, Luis Flores, Mutate and Joel Morgan.
