Wanted to try something new and whipped this up today. 

Did this all with my home rig - hence the Electric Drum Kit.

Not as tight as I wanted it to be but eh, lemme know what ya think.

Lypophrenia

Clean vocals are still not my forte - very pitchy and may remaster later on but for now, it's as-is.

Mostly metal vocals on this one - a different take on some metal ideas that had come to bear recently - and the content is a bit more "proggy" than I usually go but yeet. 

Some spots are definitely not in sync but ah oh well.

March

So, this was a fun adventure!

I started the night in to the studio with the intentions of just doing some learning and screwing around with some new equipment and a really nice guitar cab I had the opportunity to use; came out with a whole song - written, recorded, and mixed all in one day.

Fun facts: 

1.  The laptop I was running  for this would repeatedly cut out during takes because it is dying - so I would have to do some takes essentially "blind" for any one of the instruments/vocals.

2.  The lyrics started as a joke as you may be able to hear.

3.  I am very tired, it's fucking 5:30 AM goodnight.

Expire

Something chill I whipped up using a simple loop. 

Learning how to program in Ableton has been fun, just have to find more applications for it.

Room

I wrote this as a one-shot one day for whatever reason - just now getting around to upload it.

Far from perfect but so be it!

Where Do We Go From Here

This was randomly inspired during a 2 day phase of writing the main riff and then the following song.

This was a fun exercise in learning about Ableton's Loops, Analog and Digital instrument mixing, and a good refresher on Ableton's Automation.

This song moves kinda quick for game music but that's mostly because I get bored of hearing the loops repeat.

Mellow Brain

This was made as a random spurt of inspiration while making a clip video from a "Shadow of the Colossus" Game Playthrough. 

The drum loop is super simple and repetitive but it serves its purpose.

It took maybe 4 hours start to finish and was a lot of fun to write, hope ya like it!

Clop

Long story short.

Wrote this song initially as a joke/meme for another clip video - has a total of 8 audio tracks and took me about 6 hours Start -> Finish.

First time I was able to get my shitty 8 string to actually record decently - this was a lot of fun to do!



Lethal

Idk this was just a toss-up - was not sure if I was going to post it but eh, something is better than nothing.

2 Hours of work total - just came home from work and picked up the bass - whatever happens happens!

Was still fun to make, just a bit sloppy for my tastes, especially the drums.



Glass

I'll be honest, a bit uninspired!   

I planned on doing a song-a-day this month, but quality and creativity seems to suffer when forced - and this was forced.

Not the worst thing I've ever created but definitely missing some personality.

Anyways, short and sweet, hope ya like it.
 

This took about 4 hours start to finish from an empty scene today.

Was fun, been a bit since I've messed around on the piano; tried my hand at some slower melodies.

Absolutely mutilated a picture I took of a phone camera lens for the art lol.

Quick song I whipped up because I was bored today and wanted to test some workflow ideas.   This was all recorded on digital instrumentation and I tried to video it a bit as well. 

A bit low effort and missing some bits but I'm satisfied with the result!

Alright!

1st Song of a 6 Song release!

The theme of this collection was to try my best to write something in the "Doom 2016" soundtrack genre using some new tools I've added to my arsenal.

I strayed a bit, and took some artistic liberties to try some stuff, and I had a lot of fun writing this music.

The pacing is supposed to be pretty modular - idea being that if placed into a game setting, the sections could be programmed to loop each section based on what's going on.   At least, that was my thought process.

I got a bit stuck mixing, and lost a lot of creative momentum around the final 2 songs - but I think they've turned around a bit - definitely some learning to do when it comes to mixing and mastering, but I feel like I've made some progress with this release.

Definitely a lot of imperfections in here, but overall I am proud of how it's turned out, all things considered.

It's been a lot of fun to write - especially making use of my lower-tuned guitars, but I think my next release will be a little more chill haha!

2nd Song of a 6 Song release!

The theme of this collection was to try my best to write something in the "Doom 2016" soundtrack genre using some new tools I've added to my arsenal.

This one has some interesting liberties taken, I really like how the riff flows though - kinda slow but groovy.

I tried to set more of a setting with the talking and ambiance, etc.

Overall, this one was written very Stream-of-Conscious; do I think it could be made to sounds 'heavier'?   Yes.  Does it need to be?  No.

3rd Song of a 5 Song release!

The theme of this collection was to try my best to write something in the "Doom 2016" soundtrack genre using some new tools I've added to my arsenal.

Another fun track!   Decided to improvise with some piano and the rest of the song wrote itself.

It has some jarring moments between the swing riff and switch up to straight time - but I think that's kinda fun.

Overall I think this is the track that really wrote itself as I went - another stream-of-conscious writing format.

This one was really kind of an 'in-between' track.

Wanted one to be shorter, slammy and with a little more movement.

It's a bit more structured than most of these other songs.

This one is basically just supposed to be a prelude to the next song.

Not too much to say, supposed to be lyrics related to the story of the character - but they don't make much sense granted I didn't exactly push the theme very hard.

Short sweet, but tried some things.

Final Song of the 6 Song release!

Busy one!   This one took a lot of work to really set it in stone.

The main problem is I wanted to add double-bass, problem being that the electric drum kit that I am using to drive the digital kit does not have a great response for a double kick pedal - so it took improvising with a piano pedal and some programming to tighten it up.


This one is 100% stream-of-conscious, but also had a lot of reworking and indecision during the writing process.

Overall it turned out pretty interesting as a closing track.

Name's Tristan, or Butch, or 'Cast Iron Pan' depending on where I meet ya lol, too many nicknames these days.

I am going to try a lot of different genres here - this project is mostly going to be me experimenting and learning the DAWs and other tools.

Keeping it simple with very simple tools as well - everything is self-produced and live tracked with real instruments (mostly), all manned by yours truly.

AND yeah I know the art is super shoddy at the moment lmao - that's kinda the point but It should get better later.
