Message In A Bottle - Indoor Percussion

Through the Eyes delivers an emphatic and gripping portrayal regarding grief and recovery, drawing inspiration from the ground-breaking scientific studies of Dr. Elisabeth Kübler-Ross. Dr. Ross' compassionate contemplation about the beauty of aging, decay, flaws, and scars highlight the thematic elements of the production, joined with a moving and creative musical score. In its spirited closing moments, Through the Eyes incorporates a musical quote from Bjork's, "All is Full of Love", as Dr. Ross' words echo above the immense soundscape, teaching the audience that "the most beautiful people are those who have known defeat. Beautiful people do not just happen."

Featuring a wide assortment of electronic textures indicative of this harrowing reality, the clever melodic and rhythmic interplay between the battery and the front ensemble is guaranteed to entertain audience members and players alike, while offering music that allows performers to channel a sense of unbridled power and aggression. Various lines from Orwell’s novel are strewn throughout the pulse-pounding musical narrative, adding to the oppressive atmosphere as moments of dread and the overwhelming presence of Big Brother find themselves represented within a flurry of rudimentary passages that imply nothing short of inhuman precision. Much like Orwell’s novel, this a production that remains in your head long after its sobering and incredibly powerful conclusion.

Dystopia - Percussion

"Where the Sidewalk Ends" is a fantastical musical production inspired by the famous poem by Shel Silverstein. This show is full of musical acrobatics and excitement, as well as a majestic middle movement. Soloists include Flute and Alto Saxophone. The First Movement starts with a quirky parade band feel that leads band members falling over the sidewalk one by one into the magical world. The Second movement features a flute soloist as we explore the softer side of this new land juxtaposed with an intense percussion feature. The Final movement begins with a lamenting sax solo that builds into a frantic scramble to pull our last remaining member into the new world. The Sands of Time is an energetic arrangement of some of the music from the Prince of Persia movie and an arrangement of Tangiers by John Powell. There are a couple moments to feature a fantastic flute soloist in this show.
