Making only a minute splash, a pair of sandaled feet landed in the murky waters of the city’s sewer system. Their owner winced slightly as his first step squelched upon the sodden and soggy soil that coated the ground within these grand pipes, but redoubled his focus with the knowledge that their labyrinthine network would provide him with a means to sneak into the castle unseen, undetected, and with minimal resistance. Assured in this knowledge, he strode forwards with confidence, undeterred by the murky and fetid environment in which he now traveled.

After some time in the sewers, the ronin became aware that he was being watched. From the most shadowed corners of the system's most cavernous corridors, he began to catch glimpses of sickly yellow eyes that followed him not with the vigilance of man but with the ravenous hunger of a beast. As he quickened his pace, he felt only more and more of these eyes upon him and began to rush through the passages in search of a glimmer of light. Finding it deep beneath the grated cover of a street-level vent, he turned to face his would-be assailants and found them on all sides; feral rats of a gargantuan size that dripped noxious poisons from the rotted enamel of their exposed teeth. As he assumed a defensive posture, the ronin grinned beneath the wide brim of his armored hat. It had been some time since he had been able to test his skills against an enemy this numerous, and his blade hungered to cleave through the soft hides of these rodents of unusual size. Thus it was that as the horde came upon him, his battle cry echoed upwards to the street above with glee, alongside the frenzied screeching of the swarm that fell like grass before his honed blade. Even within this melee, however, the ronin could not shake the feeling that he was being watched again, now by more human eyes. As the penultimate rat fell before his blade, a thunderous explosion reverberated throughout the tunnel, silencing the chamber he stood within. As his gaze traveled upwards, it followed a thin trail of smoke from the silver barrel of a six-shooter upwards to the brims of two hats, wide like his own but made of leather rather than straw. From beneath one came a single gruff greeting, breaking the silence wrought by the gun that had emerged from the darkness.

Time stood still to make way for the fastest and most destructive dubstep in the universe. "Time Gone Chapter I" by IRONTYPE, released on Paperfunk Recordings, is a revolution where dubstep, pushed to the limits of speed, transforms into Drum & Bass. This release shatters conventional notions of tempo and sound, blurring the boundaries between genres.

Each track is a sonic explosion, where blistering speed is accentuated by brutal basslines and aggressive synths. The name ‘Odyssey’ is apt from an LP which explores the full musical world which The Clamps has built around his art. And alongside Kosen Production, he’s about to unleash a collection of records that is a full spectrum look of what he’s achieved over his career, one which has spanned the neurofunk genre and helped provide some of its most unforgiving, yet refined sounds. Stretching across fifteen tracks, mainly falling within the techstep and neurofunk categories, there’s a host of featuring artists which help to platform the network he’s built through his music, from Nuklear MC, Impak, Merikan, Mizo to Nickbee. Due to drop in September, Kosen Productions - one of the leading independent imprints pushing up through its competition - is set to release its first teaser. It comes in the form of ‘Mankind / Soul of the Abyss’. ‘Mankind’ is a sonic rendition of humanity’s dark side, setting the scene of the world going mad, whilst ‘Soul of the Abyss’ focuses more on the depression, juxtaposing the track’s more melancholy parts with its more aggressive elements.

‘Mankind’ creates a landscape which is snapping and unforgiving, one which slowly drags you in like quicksand. The Clamps isn’t afraid to search for new and exciting avenues for his music, which is shown throughout ‘Mankind’. Its foreboding intro sets the scene and bit by bit you’re gradually pulled into the chaos. ‘Soul of the Abyss’ is more deeply menacing; a brooding concoction of throbbing drum peddles, crackling LFOs and peaked stabs of bass. Whilst still pushing the same underground feel as its forerunner, The Clamps doesn’t mince his intentions, cutting forward with the precision and snapping jaws which are still part of the track’s more understated composition. Yet it still causes as much of an impact and that’s why this package provides an intriguing opener of what The Clamps is about to unleash. He has a talent at his disposal which has been proven time and time again, meaning that the anticipation around the album will only begin to rise. Its world is chaotic as The Clamps has ever been.

NAIS returns to NEUROPUNK RECORDS with his LET’S ROCK EP, the latest in an explosive series of releases across the neurofunk scene’s top labels including Eatbrain, Bad Taste, and a prior release on NEUROPUNK RECORDS with his EP “Dirty Bounce”. A diverse display of NAIS’ boisterous sonic character, the LET’S ROCK EP sees NAIS continue to build his meteoric momentum with a further four uncompromising tracks.

LET’S ROCK opens with a track by the same name, within which NAIS warps a funk fueled introductory instrumental with an uproarious bassline that allows space for the samples swung snares to step underneath. VISIBLE TRIGGERS takes a similar approach to its bassline synthesis, but instead stretches it amidst a rapid percussive sequence of ringing metallic timbre. The initial dubby atmosphere of JNGL follows next, taking the source material of the genre as the inspiration for a uniquely technical set of sounds. The braggadocious bravado of BOSSIN then closes the EP, perhaps most emblematic of NAIS boisterous sound in it’s hyperenergetic & funky bassline flow.

With LET’S ROCK, NAIS returns to his NEUROPUNK RECORDS launchpad as he seeks to set out on a second sonic journey that sees him rise even further than the explosive success of his first.
