He perched upon the barren ledge, high above the valley beyond – the place where his people had resided for an aeon of peace, withdrawn from the overwhelming technologies of the outer rim, hiding in the obscurity of tranquility. The habitat below was a mere dot against his retina, his imagination doing the work in constructing an image of the bustle of the many lives within. He carried with him the sacred resin, and carried within himself the rite of his people, handed down between generations for as long as their history could remember. His sacrifice would ensure the peace of a generation more - his torment would be their strength. Civilizations that had come before tore themselves into pieces - times of peace held the unspoken lies of restrained savagery, the bitter truth of which came frequently, and bloodily as brothers and sisters set upon each other with unbridled hatred. That dark ferocity was within him now, carefully extracted from the minds of the populace by the ancient methods, he was the vessel of his peoples’ catharsis. He hesitated a moment more, looking out to the distant peaks that had touched the heart of his eye since childhood, the gravity of the setting sun drawing his soul to the gold crested radiance of their summits. With a fluid motion he poured the resin down his gullet, felt it snaking through is entire being, searing the illumination of universal history deep within him. The staggering truths towered beyond him, twisting up in harmony before splitting, the many faces of darkness emerging, the true face of nature erupting in blackness, the unimaginable horrors that inhabit plains untouchable, the fiends that feed off life and light and invisibly, that grow in suffering… they felt his sight, knew they were exposed, their eyes turning inward to his psyche – tearing him apart, pushing through his body and erupting from within. The resin did its work… as the creatures unspeakable feasted on him across dimensions, roots burst from his ruined body, branches spiraling up trapping all in their path. A silence settled on the outcrop, nature threaded its fingers of wind through new grass, whilst the sun set against horrific merging of life and the terrifying living monument of DIVERGENCE.

While the doors to our favourite skanking spots have remained closed throughout the summer, many of us have found solace in the comfort of Netflix and cinema snacks on the sofa. However on the 10th September Austria’s finest, Mainframe Recording’s are shaking things up with ‘Popcorn Machine’. This latest release sees imprint owner Disaszt team up with neuro nobleman The Clamps resulting in a high energy dance-floor track which will kick off the cobwebs and have you ready to return to the raves.

The intro combines spacey pads with tribal hits of percussion, the beats thicken with layers of quick breakbeats before a heavily modulated vocal brings hints of the techy territory in which this track resides. The drop reveals a tear-out path carved of twisting risers and an unavoidably head-banging drum pattern. The dark, heavy and distorted low end combined with the quick, plucking drops give ‘Popcorn Machine’ a vibe of intense action and impending menace worthy of the silver screen.

Well past the centenary of their catalog, Mainframe Recording’s reputation for releasing the highest quality drum and bass has long been established. Prolix will be a familiar name to most hardened Drum and Bass heads, with a back catalogue that has seen releases on some of the most prolific and respected labels in the industry such as RAM, Playaz & Ganja Tek, VISION, Blackout, Renegade Hardware, Metalheadz, Viper, Virus, OWSLA/MTA and most recently signing exclusively to Shogun Audio. His unique style of production has achieved international recognition filling Prolix with the courage he needed to establish his own imprint in 2011; cue the birth of the mighty Trendkill Records. 

As his reputation has grown, Prolix has found himself collaborating with an array of top artists from across the genre such as Noisia, Misanthrop, and Icicle, as well as remixing the likes of Chase and Status, Ed Rush and Optical, and Black Sun Empire. 
It was with his work for Chase and Status that led to an introduction to d&b pioneer DJ Hype which began the conception of Ganja Tek for the sole purpose of releasing his distinct sound. Since then, Prolix' production has gone from strength to strength, securing radio support from several BBC radio DJs including Friction and Mary Ann Hobbs. 

One of his most seminal releases to date was the visionary crowd funded 'Project Trendkill' Album, a collaboration with Gridlok  which soared to the top of the download charts and into every self respecting DJ’s record bags the world over. Teaming up with Gridlok had previously come up trumps again, drawing the attention of RAM Records head honcho Andy C, with their debut 12" of 'Membrane' and 'Babylon' devastating soundsystems worldwide. 

Other landmark releases for Prolix include 'Crater' on Renegade Hardware with Nocturnal, 'Asteroids' on VISION with NOISIA, 'On Like That' EP with MC Coppa, and the 'Transcendent' EP on Trendkill featuring collabs with Misanthrop, Mob Tactics, Rido, Meth and MC Coppa again. 


Having toured America, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, Prolix is well known for his high energy, floor-filling DJ sets. As well as doing his own headline shows accross Europe, he has also shared the stage with some of the top names in drum and bass including Chase and Status, Subfocus, and Pendulum. 

With Trendkill continuing to gather a strong and dedicated following release after release, and since having signed to Shogun and releasing his smash debut single 'Nature of Rality', Prolix is on track to becomming one of the biggest artists in the scene.
