Deep within the earth inside of a burrow that lay beneath a fetid swamp rested a creature tasked with putrescent rebirth, the horrifying beauty that sprouted forth from rot & decay. The milky ochre color of its hide was covered in a thin layer of mucus that, were there light in its subterranean lair, would glisten and shimmer as the creature slithered throughout the earth. The guttural grunts produced by the creature's hulking form echoed forth with a distinctly wet accent, squelching forth from between its mandibles as though mud beneath the tread of a boot. 

Indeed, though mud had the creature begun to burrow, filter-feeding upon the microorganisms and decaying plant matter that seeped through the soil. It had been awakened, for the first time in many centuries, by the hunger that drove it to serve in the divine duty that had been bestowed upon it a millennia ago. As it had slept, that which lived above had languished beneath the sun’s rays and grown decadent, thus ladening itself with the first stage of decay. The sweetest, ripest fruit was, after all, always the one closest to becoming rotten, and so was the fate of all living things in due time. The beast had consumed a wide variety of such rotten beings in its time - trees that had grown too tall, beasts that had grown too fat, fungi that had spread their spores too wide. To the grub’s all-consumptive hunger, the makeup of its meal mattered not. All dissolved equally within its many-chambered digestive system. Thus, as it broke through the surface earth that had lain above it for so long, the visions of steel and pink-fleshed creatures that greeted the creature gave it no hesitation. Through hunger, it had been called, and thus it would consume once more, that life may again be born anew where rot had begun to set in.

We are proud to see the legendary bass virtuoso The Clamps return to Code Smell with another heavy stinker.

The single is called “Conviction” it is a modern and forward sounding no nonsense neurofunk banger. It starts by captivating the listener with it’s dark atmosphere until it finally explodes into a perfect blend of dangerously facemelting basslines and meticulously programmed and hard hitting drums. In the second drop the track implodes into a dark four-to-the-floor groove which has become one of the signature moves from The Clamps. It is not long though until it is back on the neurofunk grind.

The Clamps is respected for his work together with Opsen under the Burr Oak moniker but as a solo artist he is also world-renowned for his releases on labels such as Kosen, Trendkill, Eatbrain, Blackout, C4C Recordings, Titan, and Invisible.

PROLIX

Prolix will be a familiar name to most hardened Drum and Bass heads, with a back catalogue that has seen releases on some of the most prolific and respected labels in the industry such as RAM, Playaz & Ganja Tek, VISION, Blackout, Renegade Hardware, Metalheadz, Viper, Virus, OWSLA/MTA and most recently signing exclusively to Shogun Audio. His unique style of production has achieved international recognition filling Prolix with the courage he needed to establish his own imprint in 2011; cue the birth of the mighty Trendkill Records. 

As his reputation has grown, Prolix has found himself collaborating with an array of top artists from across the genre such as Noisia, Misanthrop, and Icicle, as well as remixing the likes of Chase and Status, Ed Rush and Optical, and Black Sun Empire. 
It was with his work for Chase and Status that led to an introduction to d&b pioneer DJ Hype which began the conception of Ganja Tek for the sole purpose of releasing his distinct sound. Since then, Prolix' production has gone from strength to strength, securing radio support from several BBC radio DJs including Friction and Mary Ann Hobbs. 

One of his most seminal releases to date was the visionary crowd funded 'Project Trendkill' Album, a collaboration with Gridlok  which soared to the top of the download charts and into every self respecting DJ’s record bags the world over. Teaming up with Gridlok had previously come up trumps again, drawing the attention of RAM Records head honcho Andy C, with their debut 12" of 'Membrane' and 'Babylon' devastating soundsystems worldwide. 

Other landmark releases for Prolix include 'Crater' on Renegade Hardware with Nocturnal, 'Asteroids' on VISION with NOISIA, 'On Like That' EP with MC Coppa, and the 'Transcendent' EP on Trendkill featuring collabs with Misanthrop, Mob Tactics, Rido, Meth and MC Coppa again. 


Having toured America, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, Prolix is well known for his high energy, floor-filling DJ sets. As well as doing his own headline shows accross Europe, he has also shared the stage with some of the top names in drum and bass including Chase and Status, Subfocus, and Pendulum. 

With Trendkill continuing to gather a strong and dedicated following release after release, and since having signed to Shogun and releasing his smash debut single 'Nature of Rality', Prolix is on track to becomming one of the biggest artists in the scene.
