Jack Stevens aka Sully has become somewhat of a cult figure in the jungle world with his output being in high demand. His work is unmistakable. It’s always true to it’s origins while simultaneously adding new takes and juxtapositions in palette and composition. A true artist that excels in his field.

Stevens returns to Astrophonica with Swandive, a body of work presented in dual energies - dark & light, body & mind, Yin & Yang. In Werk you’re put to the test physically as es- ki-like percussion stabs grab the attention and demand a response. A staple in Fracture’s DJ sets for the last year or so.

Poison demonstrates a side to Stevens’ production that is harder, meaner, cruder and all together more brutal than he is known for. The result is an infectious mix of venomous bass and corrupted drum breaks fit to kill any dance.

The title track Swandive begins to counterbalance the fierce energy and bring some har- mony opening with calming strings and trademark icy melodies before elevating to an intense state of amen divinity that twists and turns in a story like fashion.

Memories completes the balance with euphoric bass stabs and emotional strings culminat- ing in a searing and conclusive anime-like solo. Some of Stevens’ most daring work. The cycle is complete.

"When Simply Deep was established as a YouTube Channel back in 2013 the dream was always to release music physically on Vinyl. Seven years on, that dream is now a reality and Simply Deep are proud to present SIMPLY001. Featuring some of our favourite artists since day one, SIMPLY001 is Grime/Dubstep hybrid that contains some of the most sought-after unreleased tracks of the past decade.

Kicking things off into 7th gear we have the almost lost dubplate featuring 0121 legends Emvee & Trilla. Both certified staples of the scene in their own right, ‘Dutty Yano’ has been a classic all-around the UK for some time now and we still think we’re dreaming to be able to release such a banger.

Finishing off the A side of the release we have Tumble Audio bossmen Killjoy, Sergic & Lyka stepping up. Since being shown a SoundCloud rip of ‘Beluga Lockoff’ many years ago we made it our personal mission to have this tasty number in our arsenal. Not only did we succeed in obtaining it we are the lucky label that gets to unleash this one to the world.

Farsight has been a long-time friend of the label since the Radar Radio days, so we're happy to kick off the B side with his track ‘Pro Spacemaker (VIP)’, the original version of which was released on the superb label CyberSonicLA back in 2016. This track is one of the heaviest hitting Grime pieces we’ve ever had the pleasure of hearing – any MC worth their salt would be getting multiple rewinds spraying over this one.

Last but definitely not least we have Australian badboy and OnePuff associate Arctic to close out the release with a bang. Arctic has been on our radar ever since his EP with Tumble Audio back in 2015, a truly fantastic producer. ‘Rick & Morty’ was first discovered through a clip on Rinse FM with the former MC group The Collective spraying some of their best bars over it. Since that day we knew we needed to do something special with this banger – that day has come. 

SIMPLY001 will see a Vinyl Only release on 27/11/2020 and be available to stream via Spotify from the same date."
