Madloch's Sound Avenue opens the new year by showcasing new interpretations of Eric Lune's ‘Dreaming Home'. Originally released in May of 2021 as part of the Aussie artist's ‘Dreaming Home' two-track showcase, its tastefully melodic disposition proved to be a worthy follow-up to 2019's progressive anthem ‘Embers'. Now as 2022 gets underway, Sound Avenue invites Sebastian Sellares, Forty Cats and Harmonious to re-imagine ‘Dreaming Home' for the winter season.

Returning to the label and providing the first interpretation of ‘Dreaming Home' is Sebastian Sellares. Also known under his previous moniker Monje, Sebastian hails from one of Argentina's most talent-rich regions in Cordoba. Since adopting his given name for his musical endeavors in 2018, Sebastian has gone on to showcase his music via UK behemoth Anjunadeep, Antrim's Or Two Strangers, GMJ and Matter's meanwhile and long-standing US imprint Proton Music. Having made his Sound Avenue debut in 2020 with a well-received rendition of ‘Union Eterna' by Matias Vilas, Sebastian now makes a welcome return to the label with a stunning take on ‘Dreaming Home'. Fluid and groovy in equal measure, it's a mix that carries the spirit of the original, while adding a peak time sensibility through driving grooves and otherworldly effects. Building beautifully across the first movement, Sebastian fragments the lead theme and reprocesses the vocal into a colourful canopy which blankets a trance inducing groove. Emotive chord changes carry a strong character into the break, perfectly setting the stage for the lead theme to work its magic. Its nostalgic musicality resonates against a backdrop of shapeshifting vocals and cosmic effects, tastefully building tension towards a classy crescendo and heartfelt finale.

Making her label debut and providing the second interpretation of ‘Dreaming Home' is Forty Cats. With well over a decade's worth of DJ experience, Russian artist Christina Gavrilova aka Forty Cats has been a fixture of her country's nightlife, sharing the stage with Jody Wisternoff, Nick Warren, Yotto, Dave Seaman and more. Christina's production debut landed three years ago via 8bit Music, and in relatively short order the Russian artist has gone on to release projects via Lane 8's This Never Happened, Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music, Juicebox Music and Mango Alley. Now adding Sound Avenue to her resume, Forty Cats debuts on the label with a heady rendition of ‘Dreaming Home'. Opting for a distinctly modern approach, the Russian artist reshapes the track into a collage of groove-centric, tripped-out audio. 

The release concludes with Harmonious making his label debut with the third and final interpretation of ‘Dreaming Home'. Based in Hasselt, the Belgian artist first emerged in 2017 with a release via Nie Wieder Schlafen, before going on to find a more permanent home on Jelly For The Babies' RYNTH and The Purr, where he has recorded two originals and three remixes since 2020. Although relatively early into his journey as a producer, Harmonious has already been highly regarded for his ability to blur genres and create emotional storyboards that not only work well on a dance floor but touch the heart and mind on a deeper level. Now bringing this uncanny ability to Sound Avenue, Harmonious makes his label debut with a gorgeous take on ‘Dreaming Home'.

Eric Lune - Dreaming Home (Sebastian Sellares Remix) [Sound Avenue]

As Proportion continues the high-calibre release schedule, an iconic figure within the
progressive house fraternity makes his debut on the Dmitry Molosh led imprint as Simos Tagias
excels with “Timelapse”.
An artist with a large and ever-reliable range of material, Simos Tagias has been at the
vanguard of the underground dance scene for almost a decade. Able to claim some 400
production credits to his name, the Greek artist has found his music allied to a host of blue-chip
labels after early work for Lynx Records in late 2012 and early 2013.
Since then, Simos’ distinctive sound has matured as it weaves a stylish and multi-faceted path
on the likes of Cid Inc.’s Replug, Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat and GMJ & Matter’s Meanwhile.
Indeed, March 2021’s “Euphoria / Emotion” EP for the latter shone a spotlight on a critically
acclaimed release which saw Simos’ stock rise further. Remixes on Proton Music for LADS and
GMJ plus a remix from Dmitry Molosh on December 2021’s “The Purge” for Juicebox Music,
thus provided Simos Tagias with a year to remember.
Now debuting on Proportion, the “Timelapse” title track is a glorious progressive gem that rolls
effortlessly forward with elegant bassline and heavy beat. Ticking hi-hats provide head-shaking
groove as sumptuous pads and shimmering arpeggio imperceptibly filter into sonic range, while
a counterpoint motif emerges into the stripped back breakdown in Vangelis sounding phrases.
Hitting the heights again post breakdown, “Timelapse” returns to its immaculate bass groove
and syncopated percussive top line in a sparkling second half.

Continuing the smooth dancefloor character of its partner track, “Etherea” resonates with chest-
thumping kick and twinkling arpeggio that sits delicately in the sonic background. A mesmerising

rhythmic backdrop anchors proceedings which then allows free-flowing melodic elements to
coruscate across the mid-range with ease. Waxing and waning with ease, the various rhythmic
components fall away at the mid-point to reveal a chorus of melodic joy before the heavy beat
anchor holds sway once more in the third movement as the ethereal melodic elements weave
their magical path to a delicate zenith.
Excelling with a pair of sparkling dancefloor gems, Simos Tagias has turned the clock back with
“Timelapse”.

Continuing to ride a tidal wave of success, progressive house phenom Alex O'Rion returns to Cid Inc's Replug Records with ‘Space Age'. Rising out of a successful career as a trance producer, Dutch artist Alex O'Rion took inspiration from the likes of John Digweed, Nick Warren and Sasha, to forge a path into the world of progressive house. Alex's groovy melodic sound found its footing quickly thereafter, as he notched releases via Nick Warren's Hope Recordings and Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music. Moving forward, 2020 proved to be a breakout year for the Nijkerk resident. On the strength of projects for Replug and The Soundgarden, Alex rose to Beatport's #3 best-selling progressive house producer, paving the way for 2021 releases via Guy J's Lost & Found and UK behemoth Anjunabeats. Now as 2022 takes shape, Alex continues his fruitful relationship with Replug, presenting a third and much anticipated artist showcase for the label entitled ‘Space Age'.

EP opener and title selection ‘Space Age' finds Alex operating at the peak of his creative powers. Fuelled by rhythm and groove; it's wobbly basslines and flickering percussive arrangements resonate on a transcendent level. Fluid and trippy across the first movement, Alex continues his stylized ways with timely vocal fragments and supernatural effects creating a colourful path into the main break. Sitting comfortably in an ethereal yet thought provoking space, submerged beats rise out of intoxicating atmospheres as the interlude evolves, eventually spearheading a groove-centric drop and mystical finale.

Rounding out the release is ‘Aperon' which lands with an equally impressive display of craftsmanship. Alex reaffirms his instinctive ability to tip a dancefloor over the edge, planting multiple explosions of serotonin through wavy melodies, clustered effects and disorientating projections. Clever co-actions make for a break that is both surreal and tense, flowing through undulating rhythms and cascading melodies, before confidently returning to the groove for a sweeping aerial finale.

With ‘Space Age' Alex continues his journey across the electronic cosmos, presenting two crushingly catchy productions steeped in colourful musicality and thought-provoking atmospherics.

Cid Inc's Replug Records welcomes Nopi back to the label for his first solo project. Ukrainian artist Nopi brings a surreal beauty to his innovative brand of electronic composition. His colourful synth leads, exotic percussive arrangements and smooth, dancefloor minded grooves have made for a sound that is all his own. Emerging in 2019, Nopi has enjoyed a three-year creative swell, earning the praise of electronic music tastemakers such as Behrouz, Guy J, Lee Burridge, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Sebastian Leger and more; while All Day I Dream, Do Not Sit and TRYBESof have served as landing spots for his transcendent sound. Having made his Replug debut in 2020 with a collaborative project alongside progressive music star Dmitry Molosh, Nopi now returns to the trailblazing imprint for his first solo effort entitled ‘Nature In The Home'. 

Continuing to tread the waters between progressive and organic house, Nopi leans closer to the former on first track ‘Nature In The Mountains After Mushrooms'. A dizzying dance floor slam powered by potent kick drums and hyperspace effects. Rather than burst into a whirlwind or electronic symphony, Nopi delivers tension through slow burn repetition, dodging expectations and emphasizing his conceptual charm, painting bucolic scenes of solitude, as hypnagogic effects unveil a semi-conscious dreamland, before the Ukrainian's creative attitude reveals itself during an interlude of colourful synth swagger and mesmerizing progression. 

Beneath the powerful tidal waves of 'Nature In The Mountains After Mushrooms' lies the spellbinding realities of 'Mistake Forest'. Packed to the hilt with drama and emotion, its adventurous spirit is something Nopi relishes in, as he flexes a trance-inducing side of his studio repertoire. A genuine exchange of melody and texture provide the narrative, where themes of introspection and hope get translated by fuzzed out vocal fragments, thought-provoking musicality and machine-gun style grooves. 

Continuing on a similar monochrome are the nostalgic qualities of the collection's final selection 'Capadocia'. Profoundly idyllic, it's a composition that further cements Nopi's elusive vision, as its buoyant beginnings morph into a meditative, consciousness-expanding conversion of musical ideas. Dark rebounding rhythms and rolling basslines set the course for rustic hooks, prismatic effects and metallic arps, which ultimately puts a stamp on this thematic collection from one of progressive music's rising mavericks.

Beloved for their combination of groove and melody, NuFects return to Clubsonica for their much-anticipated debut EP. Conceptualized in 2013, Colombian artists Alejo Cortes and Carlos Lopez aka NuFects decided to undertake a project full of energy, joy, colour and intrigue. They started producing progressive and organic house under the name NuFects, quickly earning recognition from Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and Cid Inc, along with very important local talents Dabeat, Gux Jimenez and Kamilo Sanclemente. Also finding a place in the more melodic uptempo realms of the genre, legends Paul Oakenfold and Solarstone became NuFects supporters, playlisting their music and making the duo a legit crossover act. Nufects now makes a welcome return to the label for their debut EP 'Wild | Sordina', alongside remixes from Juan Deminicis and Sebastian Sellares. 

Destined to be a highlight in Nufects discography, it is the melodic stylings of 'Wild' which get the release underway. Electrically charged from the outset, its rolling rhythmic structures, striking electronics and character rich groove set the piece on a course for aural enlightenment. Euphoric chord stabs and haunting atmospheres rise across the first act, carrying momentum and mood into the main break. Acid-like lines delight across the centrepiece, eventually melting down to the duo's symphonic motifs, as flurries of drums and rising sonics unite for a tasteful crescendo and cosmic finale. The companion piece finds NuFects collaborating with fellow countryman Jab Vix. Together the trio masterfully synthesize their talents into one singular progressive vision that is 'Sordina'. Continuing the groove-centric vibes of its predecessor, the trio let's lush vocal elements and reflective chord stabs descend over perfectly carved basslines and flashing percussive arrangements for the ultimate mid-set style groover. 

Providing the interpretation of 'Wild' is Juan Deminicis. As a favourite of progressive music's top tastemakers in Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and Guy J, the Argentinean artist has released on some of the genre's finest imprints over the course of his now fifteen year career. Hoomidas, Lost and Found, Replug, Souksonic and Sudbeat Music have all been regular landing spots for the talented Buenos Aires resident. With three remixes for the label across the last five calendar years, Juan makes a welcome return to Clubsonica, taking 'Wild' into deeper territory. Rather than burst into a dancefloor whirlwind or electronic symphony, Juan's interpretation evokes its emotions through slow burn repetition, dodging expectations and emphasizing its conceptual charm, painting idyllic scenes of solitude, as hypnagogic motifs unveil a semi-conscious dreamland, before the Argentine's progressive attitude reveals itself during a second act of driving grooves, haunting atmospheres and cosmic effects.

Sebastian now makes his Clubsonica debut with a gorgeous take on 'Sordina'. While maintaining the elusive spirit of the original, the Argentinean artist crafts a sweeping sonic experience all his own, a spirited journey into an atmospheric hinterland, where rolling basslines and emotive melodies surface from their progressive architecture, onwards to a finale of chugging grooves and hopeful overlays. A heartfelt interpretation from Sebastian, which rounds out a must have EP from NuFects, an artist duo who continues to impress and emerge from Colombia's electronic music landscape.
