Hace mucho tiempo que quise sacar ese mixtape y ahora que salió el sol...es la hora!!

La inspiración de ese mix viene de un concepto sencillo: reimaginar unos temas que me encanta en un estilo cumbiero, más lento, más sabrosos ;) Mientras que estaba terminando mi EP Cumbias Imaquinarias (https://elbuho.bandcamp.com/album/cumbias-imaquinarias-ep) volví a enamorarme de la cumbia y su ritmo delicioso y pues asi nació el mixtape que mezcla todo desde Burial hasta Manu Chao y mucho más...

Espero que disfruten esta selección de música que ya conocen pero tal vez en un nuevo contexto o unos nuevos descubrimientos. Voy a agregar un playlist pronto pero por el momento escucha, disfruta y viaja!!! 🌞 ☀️ 🌞

I have been sitting on this mixtape for a little while now but decided, the sun is shining, it's time for some new music.

This mix is inspired by a simple concept: some tunes I love reimagined in a new context cumbiero. As I was finishing my last EP Cumbias Imaquinarias (https://elbuho.bandcamp.com/album/cumbias-imaquinarias-ep) I  went back to some Cumbia roots and decided to make this slightly mad mixtape of all sorts of music with Cumbia as the thread running through the mix. Everything from Manu Chao to Burial ;)

Hopefully you discover music you know and love in a new light and maybe even some new music ;) I will add a tracklist soon but for now, jump in, immerse yourself and enjoy the Cumbia sunshine!! 🌞 ☀️ 🌞

Buffalo Dance

Akasha is the third offering of the Kuya Sessions. Cura led us on a shamanic journey of body-centered awareness. Our journey continued in Samadhi, unifying individual and universal consciousness. We are now prepared to enter the exquisitely ethereal realm of Akasha. The gentle welcoming melody in “Path of Illumination” relaxes us in preparation for our journey. Vocalist Meagan Chandler sings four of the ninety-nine names of Allah as Poranguí sings four names of god in different African traditions. This invocation, joining male and female and diverse cultural traditions, serves as a prayer for protection as we gradually remove the veil and dissolve into the cosmic memory of divine consciousness. We are becoming formless, egoless, as we float in the liminal space between life and death. The cosmos slows down. Vulnerable and open to the benevolent pulse of the universe, we are drawn into the inner sanctum of the akashic womb. 

In “Eternal Horizons” a soothing female voice, accompanied by cello and piano, sings a sailor’s folk song, guiding us deeper into the sea of love and loss, encouraging us to surrender more, to shed that which no longer serves. We know that we must let go in order to move on, that we must metaphorically die in order to be reborn, the eternal return. As we sail towards the event horizon and pass the point of no return, we are greeted by a gentle male voice that embraces us in compassion as it slowly delivers us to a brand new world, where we are bathed in peace, love, and understanding. 

It is time to come home to the “Heart of the Mother,” where we can integrate our cosmic journey in the warm arms of our beloved Pachamama. From our experience of ethereal awareness, we have come to truly know in the deepest depths of souls that everything is being held as is meant to be, that we are safe and whole, that we are protected by the supreme love of energetic forces that lie beyond the beyond. We see that our own capacity for love, as fragile as our earthly bodies and yet as infinite as the akashic realm of which it is a part, makes an essential contribution to the unfolding divine plan.

Embedded within the sonic signature of the world’s oldest musical lineages and enhanced with field recordings and samples from across the globe, Kuya Sessions: Akasha is best experienced in its Journey Mix format, where the boundaries between the three movements are as ephemeral as the voyage itself. In preparation for embarking on this ritualistic path, one is invited to create an environment for inner-exploration with the help of a quiet and dark room, headphones, an eye mask, and an intention of healing and discovery. 

Akasha draws upon a grounding array of ancient instruments, field recordings, Celtic runes, and therapeutic musical stylings while showcasing Poranguí and Liquid Bloom’s magical, multi-dimensional sound. Distilled from the intention of providing listeners a path toward healing and a safe space from which to embark on that odyssey, Kuya Sessions: Akasha will continue to reveal itself with each subsequent visit for all who desire its therapeutic guidance. 

The Kuya Sessions were created by Poranguí and Liquid Bloom for Kuya, in support of paradigm-shifting medicine and therapeutics to help people transform their lives into lives they love. Akasha offers seekers a soundtrack for their journeys toward rebalancing, and is now lovingly shared with listeners everywhere on behalf of Kuya and the artists.

“Cicada Sessions”, as the debut EP is called, derived it’s name from the cicadas that were constantly singing while the sun was up… so much so that the album had to be produced at night, with recording sessions starting at sunset and lasting until sunrise. The cicadas and many other sounds of nature even made their way subtly into the music throughout the EP. The music created by this distinctive pair is a unique and deliberate collaboration of electronic production with live and very real performances. Many of the solos were recorded in a single take and left “as is”.

Taking inspiration from elements of dub, roots, jazz & downbeat electronica, Nachur fuses modern digital production with earthy analogue warmth. The songs are glued together with delay and soaked in reverb, creating deep atmospheric soundscapes. Crunchy electronic beats and reggae basslines are seamlessly interwoven with sitar, guitar, bansuri flute, didgeridoo and melodica. Epic guitar solos reminiscent of Jimi Hendrix and Pink Floyd are arranged with Eastern sitar and indigenous instruments to take the listener on a true journey. Nachur smoothly mixes these organic and digital sounds, hoping to help 21st Century humans reconnect with the beauty of nature and with their own source.

Both Isaac and Prosad wanted to create a project that was a true collaboration, with no agenda and no attempt to market to a genre; their goal was simply to create music that conveys positivity and their deep love for nature. Because of this intention, Cicada Sessions became a concept album - meant to be listened to from start to finish, with quality speakers or headphones. So turn the lights down low and let these songs take you on a 3 dimensional journey through sound.
It is an enigma… on one hand mellow and calming, yet on the other upbeat and energizing.

We hope you can feel the warmth in this heartfelt music, which was inspired by the muses that must still be living in the old forests of Aotearoa.

The days continue to be wild.
 There’s a war between Israel and Iran. Luckily, I’m in Portugal — safe and calm.
This is a medicine set — filled with optimism and hope, rage, pain, sorrow, and prayer. That whole intense emotional spectrum we’re all experiencing right now.
 It’s woven with words — lots of them — in Hebrew, English, Portuguese, and Spanish. All the languages that make up who I am in this moment.
Some of the tracks were released just in the past couple of weeks — each one struck a deep chord in me. This is still the most powerful way I know to pray.
Perfect for lying down, gentle movement, cooking in the background, or driving.
Hoping for peace and unity, as soon as possible.

Ninze - Memories

This song was recorded many years ago and never released... until now. I am happy to say that I finally made the time to polish this track and set it free into the world. The beats were originally made by my good friend, Gary Diggins. I pitch shifted them to match the sitar and doubled the drums with a bit of programming. I then added a touch of my favorite reverb and delay to really accentuate the haunting melodies in the sitar. Enjoy!

Held on the banks of a beautiful river, Priceless is a camp out filled with beats, breaks, swimming, beaching and art. This set was recorded Midnight – 1:30am, Saturday, September 27th. This set was followed by Androcell, making a night of Deep, Dubby, Dreamy music in the Chill Dome.

From lush soundscapes, to contagious reggae grooves and inspiring lyrics, Prosad loops everything live and takes you on a journey of the soul.

Full Bio:

For Prosad, life in music is international, spiritual and full of good vibrations. He’s a multi-instrumentalist and singer who has travelled the world sharing his unique blend of sitar, guitar, reggae and world music.
 
On stage, Prosad is far outnumbered by his musical instruments but he brings them all together with live looping; recording guitar, layered vocals, flute, didgeridoo and more while soloing and singing over his spontaneous creations. He has performed all over the globe, including New Zealand, Australia, India and Europe. A career highlight was performing to a stadium of 50,000 people at the Dhaka International Folk Festival in Bangladesh. The next day in the hotel, the locals were humming his catchy melodies. 

Prosad has composed music for two Hollywood films; his song "Byron Bay" was featured in the movie The Love Guru, with Mike Myers. He also also composed the complete score for the independent film, Nice2MeetU. Prosad has performed and recorded with great artists such as Grammy Award winner Chris Berry and Australian legend Xavier Rudd (on his album Spirit Bird). He also had the same first sitar teacher as George Harrison.

Prosad's intention is to create a spiritual vibration in his music by blending sitar and other ancient instruments with uplifting lyrics, good vibes and messages of hope and rising into our power. He's been inspired by artists like the Beatles, Bob Marley and Trevor Hall as they have all shared a spiritual message through their music and Prosad is here to do the same. In his latest single, Rise Like the Sun, Prosad concentrates on combining all of his eclectic musical passions – mixing sitar with reggae and world music to create a style that is all his own. 

With the addition of nineteen years of classical sitar study and inspiration from the twenty plus years he spent studying with his spiritual teacher, Tulshi Sen, Prosad has a unique blend of music and wisdom to share. Daily meditation with mantra and sound as well as having a strong vision and realizing that we have the divine power to manifest that vision - this is Prosad's message . Contagious and uplifting - spreading joy and happiness: That’s Prosad’s vibe.
