With great joy, we announce the Music Camp podcast series, where we will share mixes from producers and DJs who follow the avant-garde of electronic music, sound design, and computer music in its broad expression. At least, we will start with this musical aspect.

The host of episode 001 is Flaty (@producedbyflaty) – a music producer, founder of the creative studio ANWO, a key artist of the GOST ZVUK label, and a current instructor at the sound design faculty at HSE Design School. At our request, Flaty has put together an hour-long compilation of amazing music that perfectly illustrates what awaits you in the camp cloud – deep, technological, and non-trivial electronics exploring a variety of musical forms and sound solutions.

By the way this is not only update we had prepared in collaboration with Evgenii (Flaty). Very soon, there will be another important announcement that will delve into the creative universe of the author – Music Camp Podcast 001.

In this year, 'GOST Zvuk' celebrates its 10th anniversary. In honor of this milestone, we decided to get in touch with its founder Ildar Zaynetdinov (low808).

Ildar has recorded a mix mostly consisting of unreleased works from residents, and has given an interview for our 'ethereal labels' section, in which he answered several questions regarding the platform's work and history.

At different times, Vtgnike, Flaty, Buttechno, Lapti, Roma Zuckerman, OL, Nocow, Hoavi, and many others have released on 'GOST Zvuk'.

«My mix is made up of tracks reminiscent of childhood and computer games, when we would gather at someone's house and take turns playing. Where we used to catch grasshoppers in the fields, away from power lines, and instead of soccer goals there were two Sprite bottles. Where parents would scold us for being late for dinner, worrying that something had happened to us. And gum with stickers still cost 20 kopeek.

The beginning of the mix is like traveling back in time, when computers were huge boxes and everyone wore t-shirts over longsleeves. An era when everyone listened to Deftones and sent text messages with pagers. Many fundamental trends in electronic music were being born during this time, and I love exploring it because every artist sounded fresh and new, without trying to copy. Because there were no how-to guides on how to screw this or that sound, or endless tutorials. Protometal to me is a reimagining of that time, with its honest approach to research.»

Invited by Gaillard, Ukrainian multimedia artist Ihor Okuniev composed the sound piece Fields, 2024, which resonates from the courtyard grotto. Part of an evolving work, Fields aims to evoke the atmosphere of the landscape surrounding the artist during the war; field recordings of frozen forests, “cold” winter sounds of nature, complete the synthesized rhythms of the composition. A trace of symbolic and personal memory that becomes a vibrant fragment in the vortex of history.
