Fede Pals - Helper (Luman Remix) [Future Avenue]

Continuing a strong start to the year, Madloch’s Sound Avenue imprint welcomes Mariner + Domingo back to the label for a new EP. Enjoying a speedy rise through the landscape of organic and progressive house, the US duo showcased their music on a host of highly regarded imprints across 2020. Releases via Balkan Connection, RYNTH, The Purr and Stellar Fountain further highlighted the duo’s exotic sound. Now following the November release of their Sound Avenue debut ‘Le' Carnival’, the Florida residents make a return to the label with ‘Move On’. 

In what continues to be a fruitful partnership, Mariner + Domingo craft two of their finest cuts to date beginning with ‘Another Life’. Warm beats, submerged bass and rolling percussion set the piece in motion, as vocal phrasing and prophetic tones encase the framework. The vocal storyboard expands as the first act evolves, eventually shifting energy and mood into an emotive second act. Concise and haunting, Mediterranean motifs drift across the centrepiece, gently blanketed with misty melodies as the groove drops for a spirited finale.

The title selection ‘Move On’ follows suit with an equally impressive display of rhythm and musicality. Spacious and groovy, it’s a creation built around exotic drums, dulcet tones and blissful vocals. Cascading pianos and wispy effects converge as the first act unfolds, eventually melting down into a vocal-led break. Soulful wails drift in timeless suspension, as a trail of poignant pianos shifts energy into a percussive finale. It rounds out an exceptional EP from Mariner + Domingo, who make a welcome return to Sound Avenue as the year begins.

Mariner + Domingo - Walk On [Sound Avenue]

Kicking off 2021 by continuing to support up and coming talents in the modern underground dance arena, Meanwhile begins the year with a twin-track offering from gifted Ukrainian artist, Nōpi, and his sublime "Spoon Light" EP. One of the brightest stars in the underground house cosmos over the past eighteen months, Nōpi has continued to excel with a raft of original and remix material throughout 2020. An array of leading imprints has thus queued up to feature the Ukrainian's work with Cid Inc.'s Replug, the ever-reliable, Anjunadeep and Jacob Henry's Silk Music all releasing original music in the last months of the year; the latter with the mesmerising seven-track "Bila" EP that has seen Nōpi reach a fitting high point at year's end. Now debuting on Meanwhile, the title track is a scintillating tour de force that bristles with trademark emotion and glorious melodic brio. Driven purposefully forward with rich, sustained bassline and delicate percussive flair, shimmering pads and muted arpeggio pan the stereo spectrum with ease as ethereal vocal cuts whisper barely heard phrases, rich in reverb and delay. Building in intensity via a glorious breakdown, "Spoon Light" picks up the pace again in the third movement to create a rarely heard emotive intensity as dizzying gated synths add further aural colour. Partner track, "Creative Sheet" continues the intelligent melodic narrative of its predecessor as an intricate percussive top-line and immaculately syncopated bass groove provide a wonderfully worked rhythmic framework. Evolving seamlessly into the second movement, an expertly woven sonic tapestry reveals itself via panned effects, pulsating white-noise washes and potent synth phrasing. The result is a magnificent illustration of Nōpi's talent and ability to match groove and melody with poise and purpose. This time the Polish producer flies solo, presenting two fresh dreamy progressive house cuts 'Origami' and 'Glimmer'. Both positive, infectious tracks that will lift your spirits.

A returning artist to the Meanwhile catalogues, Imran Khan makes his original EP debut with the label's twelfth offering, "Horizonz / Push Thru".

An artist who has seen his stock rise at considerable pace after a raft of original releases on Clinique Recordings in late 2016, Imran Khan has gone on to see his music featured on such esteemed imprints as Balkan Connection, Stellar Fountain and Proton Music. A pair of remixes of GMJ and Matter's "Lost on Origin" marked an impressive Meanwhile opening salvo in October 2020 as the UK star now returns with two sparking new original offerings.

Opening with "Horizonz", a light percussive line sits atop a trademark cone-melting bassline while a heavy kick nestles perfectly in between. Evolving in seamless style, ticking hi-hats add further to the relaxed groove before flowing pads and searing synth line shimmer in reverberated echo chamber manner to create an eerie and haunting atmosphere. A searing analogue lead makes its presence felt at the mid-point before a head-shaking dancefloor collage erupts in the third movement to scintillating effect; the result creating a stunning debut from the UK artist.

Continuing the cavernous bassline and deep rhythmic groove narrative, "Push Thru" cuts an intriguing figure as organic staccato sound pans the stereo spectrum in pitched tape delay. Surrounded by an array of innovative spot effects, a muted synth line wends its way over the sonic horizon, gradually rising with open filter and increased release envelope to create a sparkling crescendo jam-packed full of modern progressive house credentials. Reverting back to the seething bass groove post-breakdown, "Push Thru" showcases Imran Khan's skill and craftsmanship in lavish fashion
