Oreiente is the latest talented artist to emerge from Sri Lanka- a country where the progressive house scene is thriving. Following an impressive first release, Luum Records welcomes Tonaco to the label for their second and much anticipated offering. Since first appearing in 2019 with an EP via Transensations, Brazilian artist Tonaco has enjoyed a steady rise within the global progressive house scene. Noted for his blend of powerful grooves, hypnotic rhythms and evocative melodies, the Tocantins resident has excelled at creating his own brand of progressive house, making him one of the most promising artists to emerge from Brazil across the last half decade. Juicebox Music, Mango Alley, Meanwhile, Vapour Recordings and WARPP have been vehicles for his creative swell in recent years, in turn earning support from progressive house tastemakers Guy J, Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren. With 2024 being highlighted by a thunderous remix of 'Cressida' by Chaum and Hobin Rude for Juicebox Music, a track which peaked at #2 in Beatport's Progressive House chart, Tonaco begins 2025 on an impressive note, making his Lumm Records debut with 'Extrema'. 

Beginning with ‘Extrema’, Tonaco showcases a peak time approach which sets the tone for the EP. Full of dark textures and cutting edge design qualities, the Brazilian phenom expertly blends punchy kick drums and tough shapely grooves, with deconstructed vocal samples, wavy arps and buzzing synth mutations, for an energetic path into the break. Further revealing his creative attitude across the interlude, it's a growling acid line which emerges to steal the air in tension filled pyrotechnic fashion. A brave and unconventional approach, certainly something you don't hear much in progressive house these days, but it shifts the mood momentarily in all its squelchy glory, before a well-timed drop seals a smooth yet exhilarating finale. 

The companion piece 'Gautama' sits as a worthy complement to its predecessor and opts for a sleeker more hypnotic approach. The track's first movement is built around chunky grooves, billowing stabs and a trippy vocal loop which sits gently below the surface. Its rhythmic and percussive appeal is high, in a dark room New York kind of way, add to that a topline of transcendent pads and textural drifts which highlights the break, and you've got a late night floor burner of the highest order. A fitting way to cap off the EP, and one which furthers Tonaco's path into the upper echelon of progressive house. Highly recommended.

PREMIERE: Tonaco - Extrema [Luum Records]

Bursting onto the Progressive House scene in mid-2020, Fausto Javier Loza has carved out quite a name for himself with his FJL production moniker. Since a debut on Balkan United, the Argentinean producer has found his music allied to such esteemed imprints as sister Madlochs Sound Avenue and 3rd Avenue, Roger Martinezs HIGHER STATES and Mangos all-conquering Mango Alley. Now the Rosario resident from the province of Sante Fe, debuts on Proportion with a 3-track EP of the highest order as FJL presents his Alter Ego / Losstower / Rare Wizards EP. With a deep, fizzing bassline narrative running throughout the triptych, Alter Ego is a chunky rhythmic powerhouse that sees a chest-thumping kick paired with a deliciously grooved bass pattern creating a sublime rolling pattern. A kaleidoscopic array of effects and risers are scattered across the 6-minute piece as a delicate arpeggiated melody gradually evolves from the low-end foundation. Pulsating white-noise washes and a hypnotic dance-floor vibe add to proceedings in an impressive opener. A Tech House vibe infuses Losstower with its plethora of stereo-panned effects and sub-bass groove. A series of cleverly treated vocal effects add to the sonic melange with their eerie overtones, while meticulously programmed hats and shakers provide dancefloor urgency. Subtle melodic flourishes add to the overall feel and the result is a production masterclass from the FJL studio. The final offering sees Rare Wizards immediately showcase its club-friendly credentials through house rhythm and hypnotic bass sequence. In keeping with its partner tracks, a flurry of deep, dark and powerful effects make their presence felt alongside evolving textures and immaculate melodic touches. Layer upon layer of evermore intricate sounds come to the fore, felt especially keenly at the powerfully pulsing breakdown, before returning to the dramatic rhythmic urgency and plethora of effects that create a track bringing to mind such maestros such as John Digweed, Quivver and Jamie Stevens.

FJL - Rare Wizards (Original Mix) [Proportion]

Roku opens the spring season by welcoming @cendrymamusic to the label for his debut EP. American producer Daniel Sampson aka Cendryma has carved out a less than conventional path on this way to being one of his country’s rising talents. From his early beginnings as trance producer under the Tecnosine and Sam Cydan monikers, the Oregon resident eventually grew tired of the genre’s constraints. Some downtime during the global pandemic gave Daniel time to pursue other creative avenues, eventually landing on progressive house and his current alias Cendryma, a project which he states ‘truly embodies my evolving sound and creative vision.’ Now, just over a year into his journey as Cendryma, Daniel has made measurable strides, compiling well-received projects for Deep Down Music, Pattern, PURRFECTION, UV and his own Cydana Sounds imprint. With 2025 already yielding an emotive take on ‘A Galaxy Above’ by Chris Sterio and Stan Seba, Cendryma continues on his explorative path, making his roku debut with ‘Fusion’, alongside remixes from @Yonsh and @chriss-v & Olart.
