Returning to Proton Music after a successful 2019, Kamilo Sanclemente & Dabeat present a bright new vision with "Beyond the Future, Vol. 1".

From Cali, south-west of the Bogota capital, Kamilo Sanclemente & Dabeat have been pivotal in advancing their country's underground dance movement. Rising out of the Cauca Valley, the duo has been responsible for a swathe of high-profile music. Both successful artists in the own rights, Sanclemente has amassed over 450 production credits since a debut for Suite 7 Records in 2013, going on to feature on some of the most prestigious independent imprints including Massive Harmony Records, Univack and Nick Warren's "Balance Presents the Soundgarden" in late 2018. A relative newcomer to the underground scene, Dabeat's solo work has seen him feature for BeatFreak Recordings, Pollen Flug Records and Freegrant Music.

Joining forces, the collaborative pairing has consistently hit the headlines with their distinctive brand of progressive house, lighting up the likes of Mango Alley, Hope and UV. January 2019 saw a Proton Music debut in the shape of the outstanding "Spiral Patterns", further enhanced by a remix from Brazilian maestro, Andre Sobota. A remix for Peter Makto & Gregory S's "Purple Rain" was another notable highlight in May as Kamilo Sanclemente & Dabeat return with the first in a series of EPs that follow in the footsteps laid by Erdi Irmak and Rick Pier O'Neil, as they start out "Beyond the Future".

Opener, "Zemula", is full of rhythmic prowess as a strong percussive groove lays the perfect foundation for rippling arpeggios and siren synth lead to course through the 8-min offering. Ambient effects and sweeping risers add additional texture to a wonderful club floor-filler. The complementary tracks of "Feline" and "Ausar" delight with their languorous rhythmic patterns as grooved plucks and clever bassline sequences add rich syncopation. Unhurried lead lines ripple across proceedings to create flowing melodic patterns while atmospheric vocal phrases add depth. The driving kick and off-beat percussion of "Asgard" provides immediate dancefloor character, tempered by stratified layers of arpeggiated sequences and rising pad progressions that reach a crescendo in a tension-fuelled breakdown. Rhythm and melody then combine once more in the third movement to maximum effect.

With its seething atmosphere, "Aerology", is a mesmerising collage of grooved bassline and melodic motif that provide a superb counterweight to intelligently programmed percussion. Adding to the aural melange a relentless sequence builds post-breakdown to strong effect before "Magma" spews forth with bristling power and dancefloor heat. Flowing hypnotically through arpeggiated phrase, a counterpoint chord progression provides weight before a grooved melodic line opens up in the second half, creating a dynamic and powerful climax.

Six tracks of the highest order see Kamilo Sanclemente securing the present while looking firmly "Beyond the Future".

Adding another debutant to the label, Proton Music welcomes Anton Make and a quintet of Teflon-coated tracks in "Bulletproof".

Originally from the historic and beautiful city of St Petersburg on the Baltic coast, Anton Make has carved out a sizeable reputation from his home in Kazan on the banks of the Volga. Fêted by Mixmag Russia as "one of the most worthy Russian adherents of the progressive sound", Anton has continued to dine at underground dance music's top table with a string of productions that first saw a commercial release on Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic's Mistique Music imprint in June 2012. Some eight years later and with a double century of credits to his name, Anton Make has seen his music allied to a host of high-profile labels that include Mango Alley, JOOF Recordings and Cid Inc.'s Replug. Indeed, 2018's "Naja Nova" with Shamil OM and January 2019's "Divo" has seen Anton continue to develop an impressive relationship with the Finnish legend's label. Finding his way on to Particles in February 2019 with the twin-track "Aquamarine" EP after a 2017 remix of Robin Thurston, Anton Make now makes his debut on Proton's flagship imprint with the five-track "Bulletproof".

The title track is a bristling rhythmic offering that glistens with rock-solid percussive groove and hypnotic woodblock phrasing. A filtered pad provides intrigue as a series of motifs evolve atop a laid-back bass groove. Rich delays and reverbs add texture and depth as an emotive breakdown melody opens up and extends into the third movement. "Claudio" immediately impresses with a slightly more up-tempo feel as an off-beat hi-hat pattern adds subtle urgency. A fast-paced melodic sequence provides intrigue with its subtle variations while pads and white-noise effect pan hits cross the left-right spectrum. The result is an intelligent dancefloor track.

A chugging cadence belies the cleverly programmed chords that ripple out in waves across "Melbourne". Subtly embracing an array of textured risers and effects, a heavily processed lead-line in the mid-point breakdown hints at a vocal phrase underneath before bass, rhythm and melody combine once more in the second half to impressive effect. Immediately grabbing listener attention with its strong bassline sequence, a body-shaking percussive line combines to ensure "My Little Princess" turns heads. Sumptuous synths and pads combine in multi-faceted layers before a glorious grooved arpeggio adds a club-friendly element to the second half.

A satisfying "Denouement" sees another trademark bassline groove, stratified layers of sound and rich sonic palette envelop along with glittering chords and vibrato lead-line. A bold arpeggio waxes and wanes in mesmerising fashion as the track reaches a breakdown crescendo of white-noise power before extending into the third movement with Vangelis inspired synth line.

Five powerful tracks find Anton Make making a "Bulletproof" debut on Proton Music.

Earning a growing reputation with its distinctive sound and immaculate curation, Meanwhile delivers another label debutant as Luka Sambe reveals, “Alive is the Meaning”. A pair of remixes from Brazil and the UK complete a global portrait.

Michael Acuri is no stranger to the electronic music scene. Well-respected across the underground dance fraternity with his unique blend of progressive, tech and deep house, his Luka Sambe soubriquet continues to supply music of the highest quality. Indeed, releases for Guy J’s Lost & Found, Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music and Robert Babicz’s Babiczstyle illustrate precisely why the Australian is one of the industry hottest properties counting almost 300 production credits to his name, stretching back some 7 years. Immediately compelling, Luka Sambe’s Meanwhile debut bristles with percussive energy in the opening phrases, as a heavy kick and cavernous sub-bass provide the perfect syncopated framework for a developing array of melodic textures. Building with delicate and consummate ease, “Alive is the Meaning” sees a glorious range of free-flowing melodies percolate and swirl across a 9-minute magnum opus that hypnotises with its dizzying stereo-panning and shimmering arpeggiated patterns rising to a rousing crescendo. The result is a gloriously constructed, highly original track.

Operating out of his Sao Paolo home, RIGOONI is a relative newcomer to the progressive house scene after a January 2018 debut for Digitment Records. Quickly making waves with his standout compositions, the self-taught producer found his music represented on Nick Warren’s Balance compilation via “Dreamed Numbers” in October 2019. Moreover, February 2020 saw the release of his “Serenade” EP for Warren’s The Soundgarden imprint. Supported by the likes of Nicolas Rada, Armen Miran and Hernan Cattaneo, RIGOONI’s additional work for the likes of Superordinate Music, Clinique and MNL, have shone a light on the Brazilian artist. A pounding beat juxtaposed against subtle melodic phrasing characterises the RIGOONI remix as the track moves with power and hypnotic pace. Making clever use of core themes within the Luka Sambe original, RIGOONI’s skill is take these as a starting point and extend on them through a series of new motifs and free-flowing patterns that reveal themselves at the breakdown and into an innovative third movement.

Nick Brennan is an artist who needs little in the way of an introduction to the underground dance cognoscenti. Through his Tripswitch pseudonym, the UK artist has delivered a multitude of material over a career stretching back almost two decades. A celebrated DJ with a global performance schedule and the monthly “Harmonics” show on Frisky Radio, Tripswitch’s production career has seen releases on Sudbeat, Global Underground and Bedrock. His own onedotsixtwo continues to provide a powerful vehicle for his own music alongside a host of talented others and a Meanwhile debut provides a glorious reworking of “Alive is the Meaning”. Glistening with a rich melodic sheen that has its roots in the Luka Sambe original, the remix showcases a wide-reaching gamut of production material from the Tripswitch studio. Pulsating waves of sound flow gently across the left-right spectrum. Shimmering keys twinkle alongside multi-layered pads and swells that rise and fall with ease, while a sumptuous bassline groove then adds weight and structure to a spell-binding interpretation.

Alive through sound, Luka Sambe, RIGOONI and Tripswitch have all found meaning through their immaculate production work.

Operating out of his Cordoba home at the base of the Sierras Chicas, Sebastian Sellares has been a consistently impressive performer with a string of high-profile releases. A 2018 debut for PHW Elements was soon followed by work for MNL, UV and August 2020's three-track "Cordoba" EP for onedotsixtwo. Inspired by the likes of Depeche Mode and Daft Punk, his music has received support from a raft of high-rollers that include Cid Inc., Aly & Fila, and fellow countryman, Hernan Cattaneo. A Proton Music debut remixing Hot TuneiK's "Circles of You" in June 2019 is now followed by a twin-track debut that opens with the sparkling "Jinsei". Redolent in dynamic percussive rhythms, a similarly cadenced synth line and syncopated bassline provide additional groove before an earworm motif reveals itself. Waxing and waning over the 11-minute magnum opus, counterpoint string phrasing adds subtlety and guile. The rhythmic prowess of "Zen State" is immediately apparent as a sumptuous bassline supplies depth with its gated pattern. Before long, a richly delayed synth line makes an appearance that repeats pre and post-breakdown while an additional free-flowing synth and smooth pad captures a joyous mood.

Nick Muir needs no introduction to the underground dance cognoscenti. Part of the Bedrock duo alongside John Digweed, renowned for such iconic hits as 1999's "Heaven Scent" and 2002's "Emerald", the UK DJ and producer has gone on to become a regular on the label of the same name with over a double century of credits under his own name, often in collaboration with the label head-honcho, Digweed. Regular global DJ performances testify to a loyal following as live streams during 2020's coronavirus lockdown continued to see Muir spearhead a new approach to life behind the decks. Making his Proton Music debut, the Nick Muir remix of "Jinsei" captures the essence of the original with its immediately recognisable central motif and multiple layers of additional production that propel the track forward with power and intensity. A huge bassline groove and shimmering arpeggio create a progressive house gem that sparkles through intermittent vocal phrases, rapid-fire hats and chest-thumping kick. The result is a track that builds to epic proportions with the arrival of a new string section in the latter stages.

An Argentinean artist of considerable repute, Matias Chilano has been at the vanguard of the progressive house movement for over a decade with his instantly recognisable deep and textured sound palette. Able to point to almost 400 production credits to back up his undoubted talent and credentials, early work for LuPS Records has subsequently seen a raft of remix and original work signed to the likes of Global Underground, Balkan Connection and Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music. A pair of remixes for Proton Music represent Chilano's contribution to the label thus far as a third now lights up "Zen State" with a gloriously evocative offering full of trademark atmosphere, white-noise effects and sumptuous synth lines. A mesmerising percussive line provides dance-floor character as a smooth bassline progression turns Sellares' original track into a thing of beauty. A collage of pulsating synth lines add further club-friendly dynamism in a remix that illustrates the Argentinean's talent and technique.

Two of the most exciting progressive house producers from the USA carry the weight of the latest MNL release as Kaspar Tasane drops two brand new originals and Kai Castro joins on remix duties.

Kasper Tasane has been making name for himself in the past five years by putting out a strong run of high quality progressive house releases in his own distinctive sound. His productions always sound fresh and airy, and have got that kinda trancey vibe going on as you'll hear whilst listening to his latest two productions 'Mirrormask' and 'Spellbinder'. Pure bliss!

Kai Castro is a fast emerging talent from Austin, Texas who first entered the scene two years ago. He takes on 'Mirrormask' and got so inspired by the song that he decided two make two totally different but equally cool interpretations. The first remix is a nice progressive dreamer whilst the 'Afterhours Dub' sounds like a timeless deep tech tune, a proper heady one.
