Born in the UK and now resident in South America, James Monro's association with the music industry goes back some 25 years, culminating in the release of the "Fonik" EP on Proton Music. DJ appearances across the world ensured the seasoned traveller was well versed in the global club scene before settling in his now Brazilian home and, as a founding father of seminal trance label, Flying Rhino Records, his reputation through the 1990s and into the dawn of the new millennium grew in stature with over 100 production credits to his name for the likes of Flow, Iboga and Candyflip Records. Furthermore, music production for television and theatre plus the Tropical Beats imprint and DJ agency has cemented Monro's status within the industry.

Moving into solo ventures in recent years has brought significant renewed success. 2011 saw Monro's Midnight Ramblers pseudonym gain traction with an appearance on John Digweed's "Structures Two" compilation with the techno gem, "Scarab", charted number one by Nick Warren and heavily supported by Hernan Cattaneo and Robert Babicz. Appearances on Andrea Bertolini's Stereo Seven and the 4DigitalAudio label (set up with fellow producer Grant Collins in 2008) has demonstrated an impressive 2013, while once again coming to the attention of Nick Warren with a contribution to his "Renaissance: Masters Series" in the shape of the beautiful "Ambientworkx7" - a notable highlight. Two remixes of Juan Deminicis' "Behind The Sun" in October 2013 opened James Monro's account with Proton Music and it is with huge excitement that we now announce the release of his debut EP on the label in the shape of the much-anticipated three-track "Fonik".

Opening with a thirteen-minute piece of epic scope and vision, the title track encapsulates Monro's passion for music through the lens of a quarter of a century's knowledge and experience. House rhythms anchored by a snapping kick form the basis for a meandering journey of TB-303 acid groove to play out, accompanied by luscious swells of rising pads and emotive riffs. Underpinned by a love of music from the soul, this is momentous work.

"Singularity" is full of vibrant dynamism. Driven by a bass line full of dance floor energy, the track is a cleverly crafted combination of halcyon progressive flavours from the genre's heyday and a mature modern sound that is a unique expression of Monro's musical passions. Shimmering pads, crashing effects and infectious groove are certain to make the track a peak-time favourite.

With a deep house essence, "Krush" rounds of proceedings with a delicate blend of deep rhythmic underpinning, ticking hats, rich chord progressions and spacious pads. Hypnotic accents and effects litter the sonic spectrum before a glassy arpeggio filters gently to the fore before dropping away to leave the angular and textured collage to play out their magic.

An acute awareness and understanding of dance music's place within the fabric of its historical context has led James Monro to produce the extraordinary "Fonik" EP.

To mark another special chapter in its journey, Melodic Therapy proudly presents a collaborative EP that celebrates powerful and visionary encounters. Elysium is the latest release from Brazilian artist Curol, who joins forces in the studio with three producers from different backgrounds and musical paths: Dimitri Nakov, Tolex, and RUSKAR. Bringing together distinct strengths and identities, the EP features two intense tracks that reflect the diversity and depth of the contemporary electronic scene.

Curol is currently one of the most respected Brazilian artists on the international circuit. Her impressive career includes performances at major festivals such as Rock in Rio, Zamna Tulum, DGTL Amsterdam, Lima and Santiago, as well as Tomorrowland Brazil and Belgium. Her music transcends borders and connects cultures, consistently reaching top positions on the Beatport and Traxsource charts, and earning support from icons such as Black Coffee, Lee Burridge, and the Keinemusik collective.

The title track 'Elysium' is an epic Progressive House journey, created in collaboration with the legendary Dimitri Nakov — known for his 15 years touring alongside Sasha and his work with Bedrock, All Day I Dream, and artists like Björk and The Chemical Brothers — and rising Brazilian talent Tolex, who has received continued support from names such as Adriatique, Vintage Culture, Gordo, and Innellea. The track blends driving percussion, a cinematic atmosphere, and a drop of pure catharsis — crafted to leave a lasting impact on dancefloors worldwide.

Following this, the track 'Retail' takes on a more organic and ancestral approach, the result of a collaboration between Curol and Brazilian producer RUSKAR, a prominent name in the Afro House scene with releases on labels such as Sol Selectas, IZIKI, and Midnight Riders. Inspired by indigenous rhythms and spirituality, the collaboration fuses mystical percussion, dense sonic landscapes, and a rhythmic sensibility that pulses with ancestry and transformation.

This release represents not only a meeting of artists from different generations and origins, but also a statement from Melodic Therapy on the power of collaboration, inner listening, and music as a universal force of connection. Two sides of the same sonic soul — between the euphoria of the dancefloor and the introspection of ritual.
