Rounding out a strong winter season, Roger Martinez's Higher States welcomes Amhain to the label for his debut EP. Hailing from Ireland but now calling Australia home, Alan Thomas Doyle aka Amhain has achieved measurable success across his career. An enthusiastic attitude towards experimentation, coupled with extraordinary creative vision has made the Sydney resident one of his country’s noteworthy talents in progressive house. Releases via Balance Music, Mango Alley, Meanwhile, Proton Music and Vapour Recordings, amongst others; sit as discography highlights, while genre tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren have been supporters along the way. Also an accomplished DJ, Amhain has been a fixture of Australia’s burgeoning nightlife for the better part of a decade, performing at renowned festivals Rainbow Serpent and Subsonic, while also showcasing his skills abroad at American events such as Burning Man and Lightning in a Bottle. With 2025 already yielding an impressive vehicle for Musique de Lune, Amhain continues on an upwards trajectory, making his Higher States debut with ‘Dream One’. 

From the opening monochromes of ‘Dream One’, Amhain’s craftsmanship reveals itself across the slow-burning piece, making for an unforgettable journey. Wistful toplines, chunky grooves, and nostalgic vocal elements unite in cosmic fashion, the latter of which tastefully recalls Quivver’s infamous Space Maneuveres project. Sitting at the heart of the piece lies a cavernous break, where orbiting effects and subterranean swells become instantly seductive, creating a vast sense of space, before effortlessly shifting energy into a finale of utopian-style ecstasy. 

The collection’s midway point is marked by the hypno-architecture of ‘Unencumbered’. Trickling reverberations and gentle strokes of tonal tension wade through its pulsating framework, with frayed effects and reverberated rhythms submerged beneath a buzzing panoramic glow. A strong sense of cruising carries momentum into a break of retro-radiance, perfectly setting up a meditative conclusion. 

Rounding out the release are the bucolic sounds of ‘A Drop In The Ocean of Time’. Pitched somewhere comfortably between dreamy reverie and symphonic bliss, Amhain crafts a trek across mossy plains and frost-filled sighs, offering listeners an immersive journey into the uncharted realms of musical expression.

The third EP from Get Physical's Croatia-focused compilation features tracks from Ana Antonova, Marina Karamarko and Evren Ulusoy and Tome R.

The track that premieres on Mixmag Adria is from Turkey’s Evren Ulusoy who has topped Beatport's Deep House charts and released prolifically on a wide range of labels, and Tome R, a young, upcoming DJ and producer from Croatia. Their ''Erotic Fresco'' is a superbly smooth and seductive house track with wavy chords and drums all sinking you into a reverie as the heavenly vocals drift up top.

Conceptual Black and Dobar House associate Ana Antonova has always explored a plethora of genres and has long been an ambassador of Croatia’s electronic scene. Her "Misunderstanding" is built on a bubbling rhythm that rolls like a pan of boiling water. It's a brilliantly warm and dynamic track with subtle synth work drawing you into its humid jungle-like atmosphere.

Marina Karamarko is another rising star of the Croatian scene who releases on TNAHQ and is on a mission to "leave you with a full heart before going home." Her remix of 'Tamo' by Andrea Ljekaj brings alluring darkness and driving tech house to the EP. Finger clicks and off-grid hits, wonky snares and cymbals all bring looseness to the industrial mood of the groove. Andrea Ljekaj is, of course, one of the driving forces behind Get Physical’s Croatia series and will be once again
compiling the upcoming EPs.

These are four essential new artists who are now all set for big things on the international stage having made their mark at home in Croatia.
