Our 45th offering welcomes two international artists on remix duties. Hailing from the island of Sri Lanka, SAJAY is an advocate of underground electronic music amongst his peers. He draws inspiration heavily from his roots and upbringing in Kenya. Having only begun his production journey in 2018, SAJAY has managed to land releases on Juicebox Music, onedotsixtwo, Mango Alley, and Soundteller Records to name a few.

Next in line, we enlisted the skills of a young and talented Argentinian producer, Nacho Quaglini. With releases on 3rd Avenue, AH Digital, Sound Avenue, and has already received support from Hernan Cattaneo for his bootleg of 'Quivver - Nothing New to Feel', his career is off to an epic start.

Kicking things off with 'Asuba', Nacho Quaglini delivers us a gentle and organic rework of the original track. Nacho keeps the ambiance and elegantly accompanies it with his signature drum groove that sits perfectly amongst the dynamic layers of percussion and sounds of nature. The pads come and go throughout, with soft keys that will allow you to drift away in the beauty of sound.

SAJAY adds his progressive flair to 'Yamma', taking you on a never-ending journey, filled with underlying harmonies that lead you to the bridge of the track, letting you slip into the unknown before bringing you into a groove with a captivating build-up. Filled to the brim with exploration and hypnotizing elements, this is sure to get any dance floor moving.

Navigating familiar Progressive House waters with confidence and purpose, GMJ and Matter's Meanwhile imprint showcases six tracks from outstanding talents within the underground dance scene as they come together to explore "Meanwhile Excursions, Vol. 1"

First up, label head-honcho, GMJ, joins forces with fellow countryman and newly crowned Meanwhile resident, amháin. Through "Flux" the duo charts a familiar course through the progressive landscape with heavy beat and glorious rolling rhythm. Easing elegantly into its stride, a heavy bass groove plays its part as flowing pads and myriad spot effects tumble over each other to create a rich sonic blend. Subtle motifs add a textured layer post-breakdown in an impressive collaborative debut. Having already showcased his talent via the "Horizonz / Push Thru" EP, Imran Khan returns with the beautiful "Patterns of Loss". Full of emotion and production flair, a familiar heavy kick and driving percussive cadence lay the foundations for an array of melodic strata to sit atop before a mesmerising arpeggio sparkles across the breakdown. Returning to its heavy rhythmic character in the second half, Imran Khan has created another 24-carat jewel.

Onestar Records caps off a successful year with a new EP from label bosses Suntech and Jhonny LP. Whether working in tandem or in solo capacity, the Colombian duo have been two of their country's premiere progressive house talents. The Medellín residents continue to find favour with the genre's premiere tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren, while also branching out for releases via Clubsonica Records, Future Avenue and Mango Alley. Now returning to their comfortable home of Onestar for the first time in two and a half years, Suntech & Johnny LP present their much anticipated 'Hamelin Loop' EP, alongside remixes from Jonnas B and Marcelo Vasami.

The release begins with the title and showcase piece 'Hamelin Loop', a track which Suntech and Jhonny wrote to vent their frustrations over the current political climate in their country. As somewhat of a departure for the normally progressive minded duo, 'Hamelin Loop' stands out for its muscular, old school flavored breakbeats, fiery acid lines and thunderous percussive arrangements. A soulful lead theme borders on the exotic as chanting vocal stabs and organic drums unite across the break, perfectly setting the stage for a sizzling finale. Meanwhile, 'El Sars' moves back into progressive territory and aims at a main room dance floor with Its pulsating groove, rhythmic waves and colourful effects. Pixie-like melodies advance narrative, moving through unpredictable patterns, while adding depth and emotion leading into the main break. Moving from trippy modulation to cosmic creativities, the interlude not only shifts mood but builds tension towards a thumping drop and driving finale.

The release concludes in fine fashion with Marcelo Vasami making his label debut and providing the lone interpretation of 'El Sars'. First emerging in 2005, the Buenos Aires resident quickly became one of the progressive scene's most recognizable names, showcasing his music on Sudbeat, Replug and Hope Recordings. Now with a career that spans the better part of two decades, Marcelo continues to be one of his country's most popular DJs, having shared the stage with Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Guy J and Cid Inc. Now coming off a collaborative remix with Hernan Cattaneo, Marcelo makes his debut on Onestar with a powerful take on 'El Sars'. A perfect balance of warmth and drive provides the foundation for fluid rhythms, poignant hooks and cosmic effects. Trippier and more stripped down than the original, it's glassy arps and ghostly refrains highlight the first act, and make for a smooth transition into the main break. Expertly executed, the interlude captivates with its tastefully tense modulation, as the groove drops, and astral aesthetics rise for an epic conclusion. An inspired remix from Marcelo once again which caps off a must have EP from Suntech and Jhonny LP, a duo who make a triumphant return to Onestar Records to round out the year.

Early support from Super Flu, Kollektiv Turmstrasse, Marc Poppcke, Oliver Weiter, Jos & Eli, Darin Epsilon, Roy Rosenfeld, Robert Babicz, Hernan Cattaneo, Guy J, Soul Button, BOg, Nick Warren, Jamie Stevens, Lonya Label bosses Javier Portilla & Sotela team up and deliver 'Don't Get Lost' on their fine Moonchild Records imprint. Lets kick off with the original, and its a brooding bubbling baselined gem, slowly meandering along as it builds, layered with tasty vocal effects as the vibe phaetons throughout. As we get to the drop, high strings and pads land creating tension, making this a solid dance floor gem. The first of the remixes comes from Cid Inc, who utilises the bassline to maximum effect, filtering the pattern, and adding techier beats and big chunky synthy bass like hits, which adds an extra top line in the drop before pouring back in to action! The Toffs deliver two mixes, first up is 'Toffts Remix', creating a groove, and subtly using the bassline, bringing it in and out, whilst the journey slowly unfurls... The second of their mixes is the'Tofts Club Mix', which strips things back to a minimal workout, plenty of trippy fx and snippets of vocal that meet rising and descending tones.

GuyRo feat. Chris Sterio - Zen (Matter Remix)

Originally part of the "Summer Particles 2018" compilation in August 2018, Kynan Cosma shone brightly with the warm melodic tones and crisp rhythmic groove of "Condominium". Now returning to Particles, the title track is joined by another original plus remixes from Belarusian and Belgian talents.

Joined by the hypnotic Afro House sounds of "Poka Yoke", the track bristles with dynamic energy featuring a dizzying organic arpeggio that undulates throughout, mesmerising in skilfully placed delays that wax and wane. Pausing for a rousing breakdown that adds spine-tingling bass and new chord progression, the track explodes in the third movement with the rasping bassline taking centre stage before the arpeggio builds once more.

A regular on Particles and Proton Music with his inimitable brand of progressive house, Michael A has showcased his talent with a raft of original and remix material. 2014's "Behind The Moon" was a notable Particles highlight as were remixes of James Monro, Huminal and GMJ. Similarly, a clutch of original EPs including "Bright Hope", "Symbol" and March 2018's "Aura Tears", have hit the Proton Music catalogue. Returning to Particles, the Michael A remix takes "Condominium" in a rich and varied direction that is characterised by wonderful bouncing bassline groove locked to a tight percussive rhythm and heavy beat. Intelligently using Kynan Cosma's original elements to craft a new musical direction, melancholy chords, haunting pads and delayed motifs add texture and depth to create something special.

With a clutch of impressive releases for the renowned, Steyoyoke, Belgium's Jordan Feyen has caused quite a stir with his Subconscious production soubriquet. A DJ from an early age and a regular around the clubs of his Antwerp home, Subconscious has already found himself remixing Soul Button for Inner Symphony. Now debuting on Particles, his remix of "Condominium" is a sublimely crafted affair that closely follows the melodic foundations laid by Kynan Cosma while adding a host of additional production material. Creating a dynamic rhythmic energy with sixteenths wood block and hi hat percussion, a rasping Moog bassline forces its way into the third movement in strong glissando phrases while the motifs of Cosma's original are interlaced carefully across the eight-minute track.

An established performer in his Antwerp home and at festivals including Tomorrowland, Love Parade and Extrema Outdoor, Larsson has found himself at the forefront of the 'deep progressive' sound that has seen him feature on the likes of Intricate Records, Ultraviolet and Outta Limits. Supported by the likes of Cosmic Gate, Kolombo and Judge Jules, Larsson debuts on Particles with a flowing, bassline rich offering that creates a new direction for Kynan Cosma's track. Pulsating and full of dance floor prowess with its roots firmly in the original, Larsson takes the components of "Poka Yoke" and crafts them into something truly special as shimmering arpeggio and grooved stabs add new layers of sound.

Throughout his decade-long career, Matias Chilano has surprisingly never released on Balkan Connection South America. Coming May 10th, the Argentine makes what’s certainly a long overdue remix debut. A steadfast figure of Buenos Aires' club scene, DJ Paul (AR) pays homage to the great Jim Morrison with “Visionary.” In his final interview to Rolling Stone circa ’69, The Doors’ frontman prophesied the arrival of electronic dance music. With focus squarely on “The Lizard King’s” remarkable sample, Chilano applies powerfully driving progressive house textures — the likes of which nobody could ever envision!
