Zaleski - Fake Dementia [South America Avenue]

Continuing what has been a prolific year, Nikko.Zs Dopamine White welcomes Nicolas Alcaraz to the label for his debut EP. Hailing from Argentina, but currently based in Brazil, Nicolas Alcaraz is a new name in the world of progressive and organic house. After years of perfecting his studio skills, the Balneário Camboriú resident made his debut in October of this year with a contribution to Nordic Voyages popular Deep Aurora Nights series. The wispy organic qualities of Calma showcased Nicolas penchant for crafting soulful electronic music with an emphasis on exotic drums and evolving melodic structures. Now, embarking on the first EP project of his young career, Nicolas debuts on Dopamine White with Mind Free. Beginning with the enchanting vibes of the title selection, Nicolas craftsmanship shines throughout, as dubby tonal themes and percolating effects shapeshift atop muscular kick drums and chunky grooves. Its this smooth amalgamation of sound which leads to the introduction of a strong vocal narrative, carving out a soulful path into a thought provoking break, one which proves to be both tense and emotive. Creamy keys and percolating effects steal the air amidst fragmented vocals for a thought-provoking mood across the interlude, eventually giving way to a groove-centric finale. Beneath the nostalgic sounds of Mind Free lies the equally impressive Too Much. Here Nicolas elusive production chops serve him well as he crafts an expansive journey that is bursting with ultrasonic qualities and a keen sense of rhythm and groove. Flowing through shuffled percussive arrangements and tasteful melodic fragments, the first act evolves with a keen sense of flow, eventually revealing a darker monochrome which drives energy into the break. Not content to rest on his laurels, Nicolas pushes his creative boundaries further here, introducing a deconstructed vocal, as orbiting effects and a vortex of noise ultimately summons a huge finale to round out the release on an epic note.
