Returning after a 2019 debut, Proton Music welcomes back Clawz SG and his spectacular twin-track "Urania" EP including a pair of remixes from iconic German names. A renowned artist with over a century of production credits for the blue chip Steyoyoke imprint, Clawz SG has enjoyed considerable success in the melodic techno genre. Using a studio chock full of analogue synthesisers, the Lille based artist showcased his talents for Proton on his "Domuyo" EP in May 2019 including remixes from Jonas Saalbach and Color Ray. The title track is immediately characterised by pounding techno kick, metronomic percussion and syncopated bassline that oozes emotion as it progresses. A twinkling synth motif sits in the background as a gloriously emotive analogue synth develops across the seven-minute piece. A stripped back breakdown adds intrigue as the second half erupts with a full rendition of the melodic phrase hinted at in the early stages. "Klothis" continues the strong rhythmic framework of its predecessor as whip-cracking clap and snare form the bedrock for a dramatic analogue bassline to power its way forward with glissando style. A chorus of synths wax and wane in mesmerising fashion as kick and percussion drop away to reveal a symphony of emotion and shimmering delays. Hitting its stride once more in the third movement with bass and drums, "Klothis" is a techno tour de force.

An artist requiring no introduction to the underground literati, Robert Babicz has been a name synonymous with high quality techno for over 20 years. A true connoisseur of the underground dance scene, the German artist's music has witnessed over 500 production credits for a 'Who's Who' of leading dance music imprints. Thus, work for Bedrock, Traum and Kompakt tell their own story of Babicz's impeccable attention to detail. A renowned technician with an immaculate ear for the sonic landscape, the Robert Babicz remix is a pounding and powerful reworking of "Klothis" that adds a unique blend of additional production material alongside Clawz SG's original. Characterised by a smooth analogue layer, euphoric pads meld with a hypnotic sixteenth note pattern that provides energy and emotion aplenty. The result is an outstanding reworking that is a genuine joy to behold.

A name synonymous with "stylish underground house and techno", Carsten Halm has carved out a considerable name for himself since a March 2016 debut for Scheef Records. Going on to produce a swathe of original music Halm has seen his work signed to a host of impressive labels that include Monkey League, Traum and Parquet Recordings. The "Dreams" EP for Sonic Union's Lowbit was also a notable highlight in October 2020. Now making his Proton Music debut, the Carsten Halm remix of "Urania" is a commanding techno interpretation that fizzes with analogue energy and drive. Using Clawz SG's original components to joyous effect, pitched and effected elements of the original rise and fall in dizzying fashion as they stutter and pitch to a rousing crescendo at the breakdown. Dropping back into a familiar rhythmic groove in the second half, the searing melodic elements once again build to a frenzied finish.

A longstanding artist within the dance music fraternity, Igal Magitman has continued to find himself at the leading edge of the underground house movement. Over 200 production credits adorn the Israeli's production portfolio including an array of releases for Proton Music that began in 2008. Remixes for Andre Sobota, Rick Pier O'Neil and Andrea Cassino have followed and Magitman now makes his solo EP debut with the twin-track "To the Mood and Back".

The title track is a beautifully arranged piece that revels in loquacious vocal cut and head-shaking bass groove. Evolving intelligently, a muted organ riff comes to the fore as a distorted vocal reprise appears in intermittent patterns. The full vocal makes its presence felt at the breakdown before "To the Mood and Back" picks up the pace once again in the second half. "Knock About" continues the smooth melodic narrative of its predecessor as a rolling percussive groove supplies dancefloor character. Free-flowing organ phrases and chopped up phrases create a perfectly syncopated melodic collage which comes to the fore at the breakdown before the funk-fuelled combination of rhythm and melody emerges once more in the third movement.

An artist with accolades, awards and unparalleled talent, Jamie Stevens has been at the forefront of the electronic music scene for two decades as founding member of Infusion and in solo guise. A regular on such esteemed imprints as Lost & Found, Bedrock and Selador, the Australian has caused a stir on Proton Music with his remixes of Rudy's "All Things Fade", in 2019, and Petar Dundov's "Nature of Nature" in late 2020. Creating a typically innovative offering, the Jamie Stevens remix revels in a powerful rhythmic foundation that rolls dynamically forward with echoes of the percussive flavour found in "Knock About". Building throughout, layers of sound create a constantly evolving dancefloor groove that makes elegant use of the chords prevalent in the original, while glorious spot effects and ambient sounds pan the stereo spectrum giving depth and space. The result is another creative masterpiece from the Jamie Stevens studio.

Owner of the rapidly growing Flug Lab imprint, Lisandro is a relatively new name to the underground dance scene. Music signed to such revered imprints as Pablo Bolivar's Seven Villas and Nick Warren's The Soundgarden, a Proton Music debut saw an impressive reworking of Erdi Irmak's "Echoes in Time" in May 2020. Now returning, Lisandro has created a club-friendly vibe and rolling groove as he uses the central melodic themes from "To The Mood and Back" to dynamic effect. The vocal phrasing so prominent in the original makes a more considered play as it sits further back in the mix, revealed fully at the breakdown. Building into the second half, beats and melody combine sumptuously in the third movement to create a joyous reworking of Magitman's track.

Accompanied by Jamie Stevens and Lisandro, Magitman has created a convivial atmosphere "To the Mood and Back".

An iconic name that stretches back over a decade, Embliss returns to Proton Music courtesy of the thematic, "Soria Moria", further enhanced by remixes from Australian and Irish icons.

Firmly ensconced in his adopted Norwegian home, Dutch artist, Tim Brandwijk, has been a prominent figure in the progressive scene with his Embliss moniker since early work for breaks-centred, Morphosis Records. Subsequently going onto to release on industry leaders, Silk Music, Armada and Anjunadeep, Embliss' Proton Music history is centred around 2013's "Stronghold" EP and a glorious remix of Dousk's "Look Good Tonight". Taking its musical cues with haunting melodies and tension-filled keys that reference the "Soria Moria" castle from classic Norwegian fairy-tale, the title track is rich in atmosphere and saturated refrains, with audio glue provided by a metronomic beat, fizzing hi hat percussion and tightly locked bass groove. "Lone Wolf" immediately impress with its strong broken-beat rhythm that references a golden musical era. A huge bassline adds warmth and depth in equal measure while the rippling melodies central to the Embliss sound make their presence felt in impressive detail. Textured pads and a chorus of subtle, pitched effects add depth and intrigue in a track full of poise, craft and originality.

An Irish producer, of similar musical significance, Silinder, has been a consistently high-profile figure in the underground progressive scene. A regular on Proton Music since a December 2011 remix of Lank's "Needless Solution", a trio of themed original EPs saw "Corrupt", "Solas" and "Basement" bookmark the Silinder production career between 2012 and 2015. A clutch of blue-chip remixes for Dousk, Navar and Andre Sobota have showcased another skillset and it is a pleasure to welcome him back with a typically flowing remix of Embliss. Reworking "Soria Moria", Silinder cleverly interprets the central melodic and bass themes, transforming them with his trademark flair. Framed by a rapid-fire hi hat percussion and club-friendly rolling groove, his skill is to provide a swathe of new production material that reaches its zenith at the breakdown and captures the essence of Embliss' work while creating a stirring new interpretation.

Matter has become a regular contributor to the Proton Music catalogues since a July 2015 debut remixing Biologik. Often with fellow countryman, GMJ, the pair have featured with a host of original production material, centred around the "Superposition", "Osmosis" and "Interscope" EPs while solo outings via "Pronoia" and "We Are Dust" in May 2016 and November 2017 have seen the "deep synth lines and driving bass" from the Australian's studio light up the label. Returning after a solo remix of Hot TuneiK in August 2018, the typically varied sonic palette that he uses to paint such vivid aural pictures, find Matter reinvigorating "Lone Wolf" with a glorious array of motifs and symphonic elements that reach their denouement in an extended breakdown that showcases Matter's continually growing skill and ingenuity. A strong rhythmic pattern and mesmerising groove add further to work of pure imagination.

A new sonic venture from the Embliss imagination finds "Soria Moria" steeped in modern musical folklore with remixes from Silinder and Matter.
