An artist with an impeccable production record, Saultloom returns to Proton Music with his "Aurora" EP. With releases on the likes of Hoomidaas, Manjumasi and Pablo Bolivar's Seven Villas, the Russian artist made an impressive Proton debut remixing Michael A's "Centaur" in late 2017 as a twin-track original EP is joined by a trio of remixes form a quintet of global artists. The "Aurora" title track is thus a beautifully crafted piece that floats across an 8-minute timeframe, anchored by heavy kick and whip-cracking snare. A glorious array of meandering pads provide texture in abundance as delicate arps and reverb-drenched piano motifs supply a subtle melancholy that is revealed fully at the breakdown and into a magical second half. "Ethereal" continues Saultloom's penchant for haunting piano melodies as emotive phrases wander across the 8-minute piece. Building underneath a rolling percussive groove, a syncopated motif adds dancefloor character while a clarinet sequence creates another wonderful melodic layer before vocals and harmonious textures combine in the third movement.

German and South African pairing, LADS, have become a firm favourite with the Proton faithful through their "Miss Jean", "Hagel" and "Stoyote" EPs, plus remixes for Dmitry Molosh, Imran Khan and James Warren. Returning after seeing a quartet of "Stoyote" remixes across both Particles and Proton Music, the LADS remix of "Ethereal" is a typically innovative offering that transforms the original by taking a key melodic element and reworking it in entirely new directions. The result is an immaculate interpretation that sees a club-friendly backdrop combine with familiar motifs, haunting vocal textures and additional production material to create a dynamic and spine-tingling dancefloor gem.

Chris Domingo and Eric Lune are a nascent artistic pairing. Both successful artists in their own rights, Domingo has been a regular contributor to Particles with his "Azimuth" and "Lose Control" EPs with former production partner, Mariner, while Lune has impressed with his work on Proton, not least through his "North to South" EP with Golan Zocher and solo "Airbag" EP. Combining for the first time on Proton Music, the Domingo + Eric Lune remix is a powerful groover that dominates with elegantly cadenced hi-hats and bassline sequence. Intelligently reimagining elements from Saultloom's original, familiar themes resonate across the 7-minute piece while a swathe of production material and synth work creates an entirely new framework from which "Ethereal" bounds and recoils within its new rhythmic structure.

London based, Erol Arda, can boast an impressive production portfolio since 2018's debut for Kindisch. Going on to feature for the likes of Dream Culture, Variety Music and Cervidae Recordings, the English artist opens his Proton Music account with a rich and evocative reworking of "Aurora". Using Saultloom's components to effortless effect, a pronounced kick propels the track forward before the central motif is given a different focus across a newly cadenced backdrop. Intelligent and sensitively placed additional production material add to the atmosphere in a delightful debut.

Clubsonica Records continues a strong start to the year by welcoming Frankie M, Rodrigo Lapena and Gonzalo Sacc to the label for their debut EP. Based in Argentina and firmly entrenched in their country's progressive music scene; Frankie, Rodrigo and Gonzalo have all achieved measurable success in their respective careers. A collective discography showcases standout releases via Hoomidaas, Songspire, The Soundgarden and TRYBESof. Also well regarded amongst the world's electronic music tastemakers, the Argentinean artists continue to earn play and support from Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren. Now joining forces for their Clubsonica debut, Frankie M, Rodrigo Lapena and Gonzalo Sacc present 'My Home | Let Me Go', alongside remixes from DJ San and Juan Deminicis.

Beginning with 'My Home' you get a feel for just how strong the creative synergy between these three talents is. Featuring a deep progressive minded narrative, the trio craft a foundation of beefy beats, smooth rhythms and tantalizing tonal themes. Soulful vocal phrases steal the air as the first act evolves, bringing with them muted pianos and effervescent effects. Coming to full fruition during the main break, the piano and vocal take centerstage, playing off one another and continuing to elevate mood, eventually fading off as a final soulful phrase summons the groove for a glowing finale. The companion piece 'Let Me Go' proves to be a worthy complement with its deep, driving energy. Muscular beats power the undulating groove, while percolating effects and timely vocals add space, depth and emotion. Continuing to evolve as the main break commences, the vocal flows through tasteful modulation amidst a bed of warm tones and swirling atmospherics, perfectly setting up a thunderous drop and vocal-led finale.

Providing the lone interpretation of 'My Home' is DJ San. Whether operating under his DJ San or Solid Sessions monikers, Dutch artist Sandor Jongerius has a storied history in electronic music. The Amsterdam resident lays claim to an impressive resume, highlighted by releases via Armada, Positva, Sony and Universal. Electronic music's premiere tastemakers have also been steadfast supporters of DJ San, with Armin Van Buuren, Dubfire, John Digweed, Paul Oakenfold, Pete Tong, Sasha and Tiesto all championing his sound at one time or another. Now, DJ San debuts on Clubsonica with a gorgeous rendition of 'My Home'. Taking a cue from the original while adding a deeper state of mind, the Dutch artist carves out a warm, fluid groove adorned with creamy tones and heartrending vocals. Sweeping effects and delicate arps continue to advance the journey, pushing momentum forward into a poignant break. Connecting in a profound way, the vocal highlights the interlude, expertly surrounded with waves of cosmic colour as it gently builds towards a suitably understated crescendo and genuine finale.

The release concludes with Juan Deminicis providing the lone interpretation of 'Let Me Go'. The Argentinean artist has released on the genre's finest imprints, with Cid Inc's Replug Records, Guy J's Lost and Found and Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music all being regular homes for the talented Argentine. Engaging from the outset, warm beats and rhythmic pulses converge for a sleek yet energetic groove, while crisp percussion and youthful vocal elements bring colour and texture to the framework. Building an engaging narrative, exotic drums and cascading tones marry beautifully across the first act, before segueing smoothly into the main break. Effervescent vocals highlight the centerpiece, delivering soulful moments, before a gentle rush of noise cues a powerful drop and exhilarating finale. A stunning remix from Juan, which rounds out a must-have collaborative project from Frankie M, Rodrigo Lapena and Gonzalo Sacc, an artist trio who have delivered some of their most engaging work to date here.

Sound Avenue rounds out a strong winter season by showcasing new interpretations of 'Vanilla Noise' by Madloch, Subnode and Pedro Capelossi. Originally released in November of 2020 as part of the 'Turmeric Latte' EP, it found the trio combining their creative forces for an exquisite organic house journey. With detail, rhythm and musicality all at a premium, it proved to be the perfect selection to close out the two-track showcase. Now with the Spring season upon us, Sound Avenue invites Valdovinos and Rohrer and Stohler to re-imagine the track.

Making his label debut and providing the first interpretation of 'Vanilla Noise' is Valdovinos. Since making his production debut just over five year ago, the Argentinean artist has found a home on All Day I Dream, Shanti Radio Moscow, Tale and Tone and TRYBESof. Also an accomplished DJ, Valdovinos has had the honour of opening for top international talents such as Gui Boratto, Giorgia Angiuli, Hermanez and Luciano. Now making his much-anticipated Sound Avenue debut, he provides a dreamy take on 'Vanilla Noise'. From deep yet robust beginnings, the piece moves fluidly through a storyboard of thumping beats, chunky bass and buoyant rhythms. Whimsical in nature, its fluttery melodic concepts captivate across the first act, before an interlude of distant voices and clustered chimes elevates emotion on wards into a spirited finale.

The release concludes with Rohrer and Stohler making their label debut and providing the second and final interpretation of 'Vanilla Noise'. Although their discography is short, the Swiss duo have already found a home on Dream Culture and Nie Wieder Schlafen since making their debut in 2018. Now presenting their first production of 2021 the Baden residents deliver a rousing rendition of 'Vanilla Noise'. Exuding warmth, atmosphere and organic design, Rohrer and Stohler's unique style carries you on an evolving eight-minute journey. Drawing on the sensibilities from the original, the duo marries distinctive design elements and striking percussion with meditative rhythms and placid atmospheres. Vocal edits drift across the pulsating framework leading into the main break, where a tranquil calm resets the groove for a late night finale. An inspired interpretation from the Swiss duo, which rounds out a welcome remix edition for 'Vanilla Noise' by Madloch, Subnode and Pedro Capelossi.
