Forerunners return to Sudbeat with his first full EP - Fear is the Mind Killer. 

Bursting onto the scene some 8 years ago, Arizona-based Brenden LaBonte (or Forerunners to his fans) has quickly progressed up the ladder with music signed to an impressive list of high profile labels including Perfecto, Pure Progressive, Anjunadeep and more. His signature slow build style is perfect for us, and we are excited to present these immersive and emotional tracks. 

Opening with a carnival of beats is 'Fear is the Mind Killer'. Melodic layers ebb and fade over the opening bars adding tension. Bass and spiky sonics in the midsection indicate a definite energy rise with the main break becoming an oasis from the chaos that powers from the drop in the final third. 'Distant Signal' with its Bladerunner-esque dystopian keys is a darker, more insistent partner. Elegant pads and choppy arps add interest to this heads-down stomper for just before dawn ushers in reality.

Closing out the collaborative project from Wassu and Adisyn is Cyclone. Shifting into more synthetic and gritty territory, ominous tones cater to dark room affairs. Searing piano chords rise and fall, offering the spotlight to a fluttering and playful bassline. It’s a closer that exudes unwavering energy, start to finish, and has us begging for more from the two American comrades.

What's the best gift you could give this New Years? For the Heath Mill Recordings crew, a brand new single from one of the label's rising talents, Matter, ticks all the boxes. Last time we heard from the Melbourne-based Matt Doyle was the early September release 'Lonely Robot', a 121bpm production that made for an impressive debut offering from an artist that has already secured releases with Proton, Particles, Balkan Connection, and Mistique. 

'Energon' launches with a supple shaker/kick combo that carefully blossoms in to an emotive production lead by sky-bound synths and an inviting atmosphere. This massive production clocks in just under an astounding 10 minutes long and sees Matter use every inch of its sonic fabric to employ a wide range of effects and emotions. If minimalistic bodies of work are your thing, the underlying grooves and powerful melodies of 'Energon' should be more than enough to lull even the pickiest of critics in to a blissful state of pure joy. 

The perfect start to a promising year for both Heath Mill Recordings and Matter, you can catch 'Energon' when it officially drops on January 1st.

The Argentinian duo have been making waves in the progressive house scene for some time now, with releases under their belt on labels such as Sound Avenue, Clubsonica, Balkan Connection, Massive Harmony and Stellar Fountain to name a few.

'Inverse Osmosis' a delicate and deep dreamer. A beautiful piece of work that is sure to please progressive house fans all around the world. It comes in an original mix and a remix by industry veteran Yuriy From Russia who delivers an absolutely outstanding rework.

A new collaborative pairing courtesy of the Belgian and Dutch lowlands, Senses of Mind debut on Proton Music with their "Spirits of Africa".

From 'two atoms smashed together with enough force to combine them as a single powerful source', Senses of Mind have taken their place in the underground musical universe. Through the talents of Kynan Cosma and Miles Vanderlooven, the duo have already found themselves featured on Somatic Records and Steyoyoke in the early part of 2019. Debuting on Proton Music, the title track is a glorious sonic melange full of African vocal phrasing and tribal rhythms that epitomise afro house. A wonderfully phrased analogue bassline adds depth and power in raw and unfettered sonic joy, before and after a stripped back breakdown that presents a rousing crescendo and dancefloor sensibilities. Partner track, "After Earth" continues the penchant for analogue power courtesy of a bold and powerful glissando phrase, reminiscent of Daft Punk in "Tron Legacy" guise and providing the perfect corollary for a shimmering arpeggio that mesmerises across the mid-range. A chest-thumping kick provides a pounding beat and shaker-fuelled percussive groove keeps the energy high throughout.

A name synonymous with the burgeoning progressive house movement of the mid-2000s, the name, Pole Folder is set in the annals of dance music with his debut work for Bedrock Records. Through the iconic and timeless "Zero Gold" album, redolent in vocal performance from the legendary, Kirsty Hawkshaw, Pole Folder has never looked back. A regular on Proton Music since April 2006's "Protected" EP, a remix of Michael A's "Orbital" in December 2017, followed by the wonderful "A Glimpse into the Past", in July 2018, saw Pole Folder at his finest. Now returning, the Belgian's remix of "Spirits of Africa" immediately delights with its use of the vocal phrases from Senses of Mind, before creating a wonderful new melodic structure and chord progression that fits inside the original like a silky glove. A glorious second half is full of textured pads and sumptuous additional lead lines that epitomises why Pole Folder is still such a sought-after producer in 2019.

A whirlwind of activity that includes a full-length album and over 400 production credits to his name, Erdi Irmak continues to represent the vanguard of underground music. With his amalgam of western sounds fused with those of his Turkish homeland, Erdi has continued to push the boundaries of traditional dance music. A regular across both Particles and Proton Music, 2015's "Night" EP for the latter, followed by December 2018's "Hidden Arcadia, Vol. 1" marked another significant contribution for the label as he now returns to remix Senses of Mind. Retaining the familiar melodic structures of the original, a host of additional production material characterises the Erdi Irmak remix of "Spirits of Africa". Mesmeric melodic phrases pave the way for familiar vocal refrains to echo the themes found in the original, but a glorious array of new tribal rhythm and ambient effects create an impressive new variation that is sure to find favour with fans and peers alike.

With Sense of Mind invoking new "Spirits of Africa", remixes from Pole Folder and Erdi Irmak continue on a path of unique exploration.

Niceshot's Ritual Of Love, released at the beginning of this year on the Seasons | Winter 2020 EP was one of the biggest releases on MNL this year. More than reason enough to welcome the talented Argentinian producer back on board and reward him with a solo release this time.

'Here' is his brand new single and continues the same path as 'Ritual Of Love'; a warm and sexy production combined with a lovely sensual dreamy vocal, this time provided by Mhyst. Truly lovely and perfect to set the mood for this summer / beach season.

On the flipside we welcome the infamous Paul Deep on board. This man doesn't need any introduction as he previously released on Sudbeat, The Soundgarden, Plattenbank and Beat Boutique to name a few. He strips down 'Ritual Of Love' to its core elements and added a proper dosage of percussion and shakers in the (re)mix. Smooth!

'Récits de Mars continue to deliver the goods, and this time Nosssia & Rhodas deliver the 16th EP.

Nosssia has been releasing music on Radiant and Atmosphere, making musical waves and gaining the attention of Récits de Mars boss Several Definition. Here teaming up with Rhodas to deliver some of the good stuff!

First up Nosssia brings the 16th, a musical mesmerising workout, where depth meets uplifting flavours, as big strings add drama, as the musical journey unfolds.

'Corpus' is next, and this melancholic workout, full of emotion and energy really is a peak time smile inducer. A rounded and beautiful track that will no doubt reflect the emotion of these times.

Several Definitions steps up on remix duties of 'Corpus', and takes things up a level again in the emotive stakes. Punchy and driving and a real hands in the air moment, a fine remix right here.'
