A collaborative pairing of global renown, Trilucid have continued to build an ever-impressive portfolio of music, continued now with "Glint". Remixes come from Sri Lanka and Poland.

Renowned artists in their own rights with high-class DJ credentials, Andy MacDougall and Hilton Caswell have found themselves performing across the globe with regularity. A production career in tandem has seen the duo feature on such revered imprints as Anjunabeats, Perspectives Digital and the "Gone" EP for Particles in December 2018. Returning to Proton Music after a collaboration with Phil Martyn saw a standout remix of Stas Drive's "Abyssal", "Glint" is an elegantly crafted affair that revels in its intricately constructed rhythmic framework and rippling melodic groove. Hitting its stride early on, a glorious bassline adds real depth and energy complementing the central motif. Building through the breakdown with additional layers the second half rises and falls with dancefloor ease to create something truly special.

An award-winning DJ full of class and affability, Subandrio Sinhawansa has music in his veins. Hailing from a musical family, he has gone onto create his own path. Mesmerising audiences with expertly sculpted sets, the Sri Lankan has featured on an array of highly respected imprints including Balkan Connection, Juicebox Music and January 2018's "Fugue State of Mind" for Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music. Hitting the heights with a quartet of Proton Music remixes that include Andre Sobota, Matter and Tim Penner, Subandrio returns for a fifth outing. Reworking "Glint" with his trademark skill and technique, the core melodic themes are immediately felt before a huge repetitive bassline cadence hits hard with the addition of a pounding kick. Evolving with ease, sumptuous pads add layers of texture and depth while resonating Trilucid's original as an array of additional production work makes its presence felt.

Appearances across their Polish homeland are regular occurrences for the combined pairing of Cream & Deep Fog. Seasoned professionals with a combined 20 years experience and over 400 production credits, the duo have seen their music featured on such esteemed labels as Electronic Tree, Balkan Connection and multiple appearances on the Visceral compilation series. Regulars on Particles with a string of original and remix material, August 2015's "Neverland" EP marked an impressive high point as have remixes of GMJ, Kastis Torrau & Donatello and Andre Sobota. A single remix of GMJ & Matter's "11 Moons" was an impressive Proton Music debut in April 2018 as Cream & Deep Fog continue with a high-energy reworking of "Glint" that is chock full of dancefloor brio. Reprising the melodic theme so central to the original in cleverly filtered fashion, the addition of a mirrored bassline anchored to the melody, makes for a dynamic and vibrant affair. The use of additional production work in delayed arpeggios that add further to the duo's remix post-breakdown sees Cream & Deep Fog at the top of their game.

Release Info:
Mulya and Sobek author our next Chapter, reprising a creative relationship which has already borne significant fruit. Their work has seen them find a home together with labels including Monaberry and TAU, while they have been picked up individually by imprints including Bedrock and Get Physical.

Here they offer three big hitters. Title track Mirrored Screen opens things in style, its chunky afro techno groove offset by an enigmatic synth line and a choppy single note pattern that is laden with tension. Tribal vocals add to the mix before the main hook opens out and satisfyingly hits home.

Shaking Hands is the follow up, built around a distorted, pitching percussive groove for a determinedly heads down, wild affair that is bound to move the dancefloor.

Rounding things off, Hard Curve is just as heavyweight. Equally moody and foreboding as it is hypnotic and driving, it comes paired with an Edition by breakout artist Rinzen (mau5trap). Rinzen's rework is progressive and euphoric, communicating and deploying a sense of scale that is reminiscent of classic Sasha or Stephan Bodzin.

Rinzen's Edition makes for a fitting closer to a very strongly rounded EP from Mulya and Sobek.

PREMIERE: Mulya & Sobek - Hard Curve (Original Mix) [Chapter 24]

For the final act ’Book Of Oaks’ sees Sascha stretch out artistically with music perfect suited to early morning, as the sun rises casting light through the window. Fresh, melodic, interesting and with just the right level of intensity it is the perfect way to conclude this trilogy as the beats gently ride out.

Sascha Braemer - Book Of Oaks

'Luka Sambe and Filter Bear make a welcome return to Cid Inc's Replug Records with 'Ekhi XIX'. Based in Sydney, the duo's deep, emotive creations have long been favoured by progressive music's top tastemakers; with Guy J, Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren all being steadfast supporters. Although frequent studio partners, the Australian artists had appeared on Replug in a solo capacity previously, with Filter Bear's 'La Rinconada'  and Luka's 'Shepherds In The Stars' coming in 2016 and 2017 respectively. Now following collaborative efforts for Lost and Found and Manjumesi, it seems only appropriate that the duo return to Replug with a joint two track artist showcase. 

In what has proven to be an ongoing creative partnership, close friends Luka Sambe and Filter Bear have managed to stretch their sonic palette with each successive project. This sentiment holds true once again with the unique combination of rhythm, musicality and soul in the lead piece 'Ekhi XIX'.  Spanning eight magical minutes the duo explore waves of tranquil motifs and funk fuelled sub bass, all perfectly laced with layers of exotic percussion. Energetic yet spacious, its airy quality elevates as the swirling arrangement drops into a blissful centrepiece. Elegant and tasteful, the interlude transfers energy into a smooth build, rising once more and perfectly segueing into a dreamy finale.

Rounding out the release is '27S' which finds the Aussie duo moving closer to peak time territory. Borderless in approach, the piece is characterized by a rolling, sub heavy groove and deliberate, techno inspired framework. Character and shape abounds, it's a low end to move mountains, which fiery percussion, tight arps and chord stabs add further rhythmic flair to. Exotic drums then come in waves, as vocal choirs and glowing overlays descend as the breakdown ensues. Increasingly tense yet achingly gorgeous, a joyous piano motif and resounding drum roll are juxtaposed perfectly, leading to an energetic drop and final act for the ages.  

With 'Ekhi XIX' Luka Sambe and Filter Bear continue to build on their creative synergy, delivering two more creations that will be firmly etched in the hearts of progressive music fans, adding nicely to a joint body of work that already contains some of the genre's finest moments.'
