James Monro has been at heart of the dance music scene for over three decades. As fully immersed now as he has been at any other point in his musical journey, the UK born, Brazilian based DJ and producer begins a new and exciting relationship with Proton Music. Following in the footsteps of Erdi Irmak, Rick Pier O'Neil and Michael A, Monro now launches the first in a new series of releases as "Sanctuary, Vol. 1" takes centre stage.

Able to point to a stellar career that has seen him perform regularly across the globe to packed festival crowds at the likes "Burning Man" and "Oregon Eclipse" alongside performances at Tokyo's "Womb", Ibiza's "Amnesia" and London's "Heaven", Monro is a seasoned world-traveller. With a huge fanbase behind him, a production career in tandem is no less impressive. Finding himself featured on John Digweed's "Structures Two" compilation and Nick Warren's "Renaissance: Masters Series", a 2019 hit on the iconic Kompakt witnessed "Pesto Punk" in partnership with John Monkman. 150 additional production credits have seen releases on Flow Records, JOOF Mantra and onedotsixtwo.

Proton Music accounts for a growing number of those credits through a glorious selection of music centred around 2017's "In the Ether" album, while "Fonik", "Nectar" and 2019's "Ascension" continue to showcase a kaleidoscopic array of original material. Writing a new chapter on the label via the five-track "Sanctuary", the title track is a nine-minute tour de force that opens with glorious atmospheric textures before thumping kick and meandering pads forms the basis for a dreamy soundscape that evolves through different phases of bristling bassline, percussive flair and stereo-panned effects. The result is a track certain to go down well at sunset on the beaches of Ibiza and Rio de Janeiro. "New Religion" revels in a richly sustained bassline that pulsates gently, juxtaposed against searing crystalline lead whose motif creates an earworm moment. Percussive woodblocks add dancefloor intrigue in the latter stages as pitch-bent pads add depth and innovation.

A gloriously in vogue breaks pattern opens "In Search of a Serum" as the lilting groove paves the way for a powerful syncopated bassline and machine-gun hi hats to create a dark and sinister offering. Subtle melodic flourishes and rich string section come to the fore at the mid-point in a Hybrid-esque manner, complete with effects that leap out of the speakers. A squelching bass and sparkling arpeggio add to the aural collage in the second half in a wonderfully emotive production. The hypnotic "Heat" immediately commands attention with its driving bass pattern and heavy kick. An array of percussive hats pitch delicately in time before an imperceptible melody emerges out of the tapestry. A whispering vocal cut adds drama at the breakdown before the track explodes into the third movement with a glissando motif that brings further texture. "Another Weirdo" closes the EP with a staccato bass and dream-like pads weaving a seamless path. Emotive chord changes and swirling melodies envelop the listener as multi-faceted layers of sound build to create a sonic collage that waxes and wanes with ease across the piece.

Madloch’s Sound Avenue imprint welcomes Mariner + Domingo to the label for their debut EP.  The US artists have an extensive history in electronic music, dating all the way back to the early nineties when the Florida club scene was a central hub for the movement. With a sound that resonates between organic and progressive house, the US duo have re-emerged over the course of 2020. Releases via Balkan Connection, One Of A Kind, RYNTH and The Purr have been vehicles for their romantic melodies and exotic rhythms. Seemingly a perfect fit for Sound Avenue’s music policy, the duo now make their first appearance on the label with ‘Le’ Carnival’.

Mariner + Domingo’s rapid rise continues with three stunning pieces of music, beginning the appropriately titled ‘Le’ Carnival’. Played out over a vibrant eight-minute journey, a narrative of vocal fragments and Mediterranean motifs gets intertwined with rolling bass lines, organic drums and playful musicality. Acting as the thematic core, the centrepiece showcases a carnival inspired vocal narrative, as a maze of luminous clusters provides a gorgeous segue into a heavenly finale.

XYZ is thrilled to present a new concept for a release. Producers are the backbone of a label; developing supportive and genuine relationships with our artists is the core principle of XYZ's development.

Our Oppo series is an ode to the figures that we feel are at the foundation of the label's journey thus far. Nobody fits this bill better than Hosini - the Swedish starlet has been with us since day one, presenting Flyga and the enigmatic Soul Search EP. His stunning sound has been the basis of our exploration into deep and melodic forms, setting the standard for XYZ from the get-go.

Oppo gives full creative control to the producer, who essentially functions as the label head for this premiere release. Curating sounds from artists around the world who've influenced his career thus far, as well as a production of his own, Hosini presents a project that fully represents his tastes as an artist.

Leading the EP is Hosini himself, with an instant classic. ‘Jupiter IV’ harnesses swirling electro-influenced synths to create an immense build in energy and emotion. A nod to the Swede’s ability to traverse genre boundaries with his signature blissful production style; unpredictable and transcendent music.

PREMIERE: Ramyen - Samandini (Original Mix) [Bercana Music]

Returning for its eighth outing, Meanwhile co-owner, Matter, makes his solo debut for the label via the unique musical triptych of “Amanita”.

From his Melbourne home, Matty Doyle has generated a tsunami of success through his Matter production moniker. Able to point to a release portfolio with over 400 production credits to his name, such esteemed imprints as Balance, Anjunadeep, BeatFreak Recordings and Proton Music have all played host to his much sought-after music.

Now creating a new narrative for his unrivalled talents within his co-owned Meanwhile label alongside fellow countryman, GMJ, “Amanita” is redolent in trademark production features that have seen Matter is such high demand. A smooth blend of rolling percussive groove, heavy beat and cavernous bassline propel the track forward with unrelenting pace as a filtered arpeggio adds to the aural melange. A glorious synth lead enters the fray at the mid-point breakdown before a rousing wall of sound marks a club-friendly zenith before the track builds once more with its star-studded cast of musical characters.

The heavy beat and wite-noise washes of “Hikikomori” provide a weighty anchor, allowing an immaculately programmed bassline groove to weave its path between four-to-the-floor rhythm and offbeat hi-hat shuffle. A heavily delayed synth line adds a touch of class as it ripples across the seven-minute piece with ease, providing subtle introspection and emotive layers in abundance. The result is a head-shaking groover that is sure to the take dancefloors by storm into 2021.

A pulsating, running bassline immediately characterises “Wormhole” as it dynamically develops courtesy of an intelligently placed melodic variation that provokes a spine-tingling emotion in the listener. An array of percussive shakers and chest-thumping kick create a spellbinding sonic palette, while a free-flowing synth line drenched in reverb and delay adds to the emotion playing off the filtered and now staccato bassline phrase. Creating a flawlessly executed progressive house anthem, Matter has once again demonstrated why his production work draws such high praise from fans and peers alike.

A career that continues to mushroom at impressive pace, “Amanita” exhibits all the qualities that finds Matter very much flavour of month.

Serendeep opens the eleventh chapter by warmly welcoming Argentina's foremost electronic music talents, Juan Deminicis with a debut three-track release 'Space and Time'. Filled with percussive rhythms and pulsating melodies sets 'Space and Time' as the headliner of the release. 'Hopes and Fears' increase the energy level by layers of drums that are ascending overtime and phasing vocals providing the framework of an ideal dance floor groove. Closing out the 24 min EP 'Intelecto' showcases the proper progressive finale and real dance floor banger.
