A new artist to grace the Particles roster, Michael Ritter makes a very welcome debut with his "Le Chat Bleu" EP. Based in the European capital dance music, Ritter has forged a substantial career from his Berlin home. A regular across the clubs of Barcelona, the German DJ and producer is an accomplished cellist while making a further name for himself with performances behind the decks at Kater Blau and Sisyphos. A host of production credits have seen another side to Ritter's talents as music signed to Nothing But, Mirror Walk and his own Grey Bar Hotel imprint, have demonstrated.

Now making his Particles debut, "Le Chat Bleu" is characterised by a bouncing bass groove and chest-thumping kick, while hard-edged hi-hats provide percussive power. Full of retro synth sounds and modulated chords, a symphony of sound provides a wide stereo image. Evolving into a deep club force in the second half, melodies and bassline combine to create a distinctive palette. "Nuit Des Temp" continues with a powerful percussive groove that creates a its own melodic phrasing as luscious chords add texture and weight. A deep bassline pattern adds to the head-shaking groove in an innovative and distinctive debut.

Ukrainian star, Nōpi, needs little introduction to the Proton cognoscenti. A regular on Proton Music with his "Parallel Words" EP series, other work for the likes of Anjunadeep, meanwhile and When We Dip XYZ, have shone a spotlight on a burgeoning and supremely talented individual. Making his Particles debut the Nōpi remix bristles with trademark melodic sensitivity and emotive phrasing while ambient effects create a dynamic offering. Carefully utilising elements from Michael Ritter's original, a swathe of additional production material has created a full and rich interpretation that reveals an air of melancholy through string passages and breathy vocal risers. The result is a uniquely impressive reworking.

Alex and Andrew have been regulars on the Particles catalogues with their Lanvary pseudonym. A raft of original music has appeared on the likes of 2015's "Micromegas", 2016's "Slingshot Ride" and 2017's "Leviathan", while remixes for Matan Caspi, Kastis Torrau and Donatello have revealed another side to Lanvary's production talent. Also making their way on to Proton Music, courtesy of 2017's "Venus" and 2019's "Everything You Feel", Lanvary now return to Particles with typical flair as their reinterpretation of "Le Chat Bleu" revels in powerful beat and immaculately syncopated bassline groove. An intricate percussive top-line adds further rhythmic prowess as reverb-soaked synth phrases echo the themes inherent in Ritter's original while setting Lanvary's remix on a new path chock full of innovative sonic elements and strong aural architecture. The resultant reworking is a testament to Lanvary's skill and craftsmanship.

DHAthens Premiere: Peshta Gora - Tikho V Lesu (Original Mix) [Keyfound Records]

Continuing their trailblazing ways, Cid Inc's Replug Records closes out the spring season by welcoming Mike Griego back to the label for a new EP.  Coming off the 2019 release of ‘Sienna' for Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music, the Argentinean artist racked up an impressive 2020. Backed by a remix from Cid Inc, Mike's much hyped ‘Solaris' arrived in July via Replug, a track which now sits at the top of his Beatport best seller's chart. Rounding out the year in style, the Buenos Aires resident then debuted on Nick Warren's The Soundgarden, with the tastefully nostalgic ‘My Last Hope', a creation which anchored the label's ‘Winter Collection' long player. Now presenting his first new music of 2021, Mike lands back on Replug with a two-track showcase entitled ‘Dysbiosis'.

Always trending on the stylized spectrum of progressive music, ‘Dysbiosis' finds Mike capturing that rare combination of cutting-edge creativity and emotive musicality. Taking square aim at the dance floor are a backbone of charged beats and a wall of shapely, key changing bass.  Fiery percussion and lively rhythms lock down the groove further, as ghostly vocal wails and stunning effects trail across the stereo field. Sitting at the heart of the creation is a two-minute centrepiece, where a percussive blur melts down into an effervescent glow of melody and colour. Reflective in nature, these clustered notes ring out in timeless suspension, tastefully building to a finale that is both electrifying and elegant.

The companion piece 'Waste Of Time'' impresses further with its buoyant energy and vivacious storyboard. Warm, full and incredibly fluid, it's rolling groove and rhythmic pulses are transcendent, building momentum as hazy melodies delight with their fuzzy charm. Expediting the journey are layers of mesmerizing percussion and trailing effects, uniting for a hypnotizing drawl leading into a cosmic break, which ultimately preludes a groovy finish.

Mike Griego's long standing relationship with Replug has produced several of progressive music's most memorable moments. ‘Dysbiosis' once again follows suit, landing with impact and emotion, setting the course for one of the summer seasons most in demand releases.

Continuing to add exciting new talent to their roster, Roger Martinez's Higher States welcomes Cloaked to the label for his debut EP. Hailing from the UK, Andrew Field aka Cloaked has been writing music from a young age. Beginning with piano and eventually graduating to musical arrangement software by the age of eleven, Andrew's love affair with electronic music began early on. Years spent perfecting his craft eventually led to his first releases via Beatfreak Limited and Balkan Connection's BC2 earlier this year. Now stepping up for the most anticipated project of his career, Cloaked lands on Roger Martinez's Higher States with a two-track showcase entitled 'Extinction Burst'.
Getting the release underway and sitting as one of Cloaked's most powerful productions to date is the title selection 'Extinction Burst'. Tight and rhythmic in all the right ways, it's charged beats, undulating groove and electric rhythms set the foundation for waves of devilish effects and emerging arps. Expanding across a near two-minute centrepiece, ethereal vocals steal the air, as melodic swells and swirling atmospheres trail across the stereo field, before getting washed away in a wave of punishing beats for a heady finale.
The companion piece 'Rising Tide' follows a similar sonic ethos and sits as an ideal complement to its predecessor. Its deep, spacious groove is perfectly contoured, adorned with vibrant arps, squelchy effects and a maze of manicured percussion. Warm bass swells advance the narrative, adding depth and emotion across the main break, playing off impassioned phrasing as the beats drop for a reflective conclusion. It rounds out a stunning two track offering from Cloaked, who makes an excellent debut on Roger Martinez's Higher States with 'Extinction Burst'.
