The latest release from Madloch's Sound Avenue imprint welcomes Arina Mur back to the label for her debut single. Since making her production debut just over three years ago, the Russian artist has found a home on Anjunadeep, Akbal Music and Seven Villas, where her deep, organic sound has flourished. Also, an accomplished DJ, Arina has had the honour of opening for top international talents such as MANDY, Pablo Bolivar, Gorje Hewek and Izhevski. October of 2020 marked Arina's Sound Avenue debut with a well-received remix of the Spotify hit ‘Kafka' by Ercos Blanka. Now making a welcome return to the label, Arina presents a new single entitled ‘Make a Wish', alongside remixes from Jim Rider and Pambouk.
Since first emerging in 2017 Arina's exotic sound has taken square aim at the dance floor. Her latest ‘Make a Wish' continues that trend with a robust, well-shaped groove and healthy percussive complement. Bursting with ultrasonic qualities, Arina expertly marries vibrant arps with plush tones and choir-like vocal pads. Energetic and heavenly in equal measure, the first act sets the stage for a grandiose style break, complete with glowing swells and gorgeous vocal phrasing, perfectly setting the stage for a thumping drop and Mediterranean inspired finale.

Making his label debut and providing the first interpretation of ‘Make a Wish' is Jim Rider. Based in the UK, Jim Rider has been a key figure in London's Electronic Music scene as a DJ, producer and promoter. Having first emerged in 2017 as a producer, it was 2020 that proved to be a breakout year for Jim, landing releases via Lee Burridge's TRYBESof and Tale & Tone imprints, as well as projects for Akbal Music, Kindisch and his own Signs imprint. Now adding Sound Avenue to his resume, Jim debuts on the label with an inspired take on ‘Make a Wish'. Making great use of the parts and reprocessing them to maximum effect, the UK artist has created a complement that excels on rhythm and groove. Wonky tones and Mediterranean musicality set the mood early, as immaculately contoured bass and buzzing effects add swing and depth across the first movement. A timely break sits at the heart of the journey, pulling more emotion into the narrative as the vocal rises across placid pads and a bed of exotic percussion, onwards to a trippy finale.

The release concludes with Pambouk also making his label debut and providing the second and final interpretation of ‘Make a Wish'. After exploring different genres of music and releasing many tracks under various monikers for years, the Grammy nominated DJ and producer eventually settled on the Pambouk alias for his organic sounds. Fast forward two years and the Armenian artist has found a home on Hoomidaas, Melody Of the Soul and Proton Music. Now adding another key entry to his well-kept discography, Pambouk rounds out the release with a deeper take on ‘Make a Wish'. Rhythmically enticing from the outset, a bed of warm beats and low-slung bass stabs set the foundation for a storyboard of jangly motifs and organic drums. Transcendent in delivery, the vocal narrative delights, striking at timely moments and juxtaposed beautifully with its colourful surroundings. Furthering its textural appeal is a glowing break, building tension through muted beats and vocal phrasing, before pulling back as the beats drop for a finale that is equal parts musical and groovy. A gorgeous interpretation from Pambouk, which rounds out a welcome return to the label for Arina Mur, who impresses once again with ‘Make a Wish'.

Release Info: 
Presenting his first solo original project of 2021, Orsen returns to Replug Records with the much anticipated ‘Waveshaper’. Having gotten the year underway with ‘Unreleased’, a special collaborative project with Replug label boss Cid Inc, Dan Baseley aka Orsen rode a swell of Beatport chart success. The three-track showcase highlighted by the joint production ‘Blessing In Disguise’, earned an extended stay in the Progressive House Top 10, while receiving play and support from Hernan Cattaneo, Guy J and Cristoph. Moving forward, the year's second quarter was highlighted by a return to US behemoth Proton Music, where Orsen reworked Hot Tuneik’s ‘Awake’ in spectacular fashion. Now as 2021 reaches its homestretch, Orsen lands back on his comfortable home of Replug with a two-track showcase entitled ‘Waveshaper’.

Highly stylized across its two selections, it is the hypnotic majesty of the title piece which sets the tone for the release. Spectacular sonic acrobats unite as Orsen marries frenetic arps and vibrant percussive splashes with entrancing grooves and a ten-tonne kick drum. Succinct in delivery and monolithic in design, the journey etches towards a brighter monochrome, gently rising as clever coactions create an energetic blend of rhythm and colour, eventually peaking across the second of two breaks as emotive chord changes usher in a rousing finale. Its adventurous spirit is something Orsen relishes in, as he adds another enduring creation to his resume.

The companion piece ‘Nocturnal’ finds Orsen continuing to survey his creative process. A delirious, trance-tinged delight, complete with the perfect balance of pulsating rhythms, acid-like lines and symphonic musicality. Robust and stirring at eight minutes in length, its enthusiastic nature is enthralling, bound by themes that are both exuberant and electric. Although a pang of euphoria seeps out of each spirited tone across the break, there is a note of deliberation in Orsen’s meticulously sculpted beats and creamy design qualities, one which is sure to find a home in the sets of electronic music’s most audacious trendsetters.

Continuing to be selective in his releases, Orsen always seems to reserve his most sought-after material for Replug. Fitting the bill perfectly, ‘Waveshaper’ goes down as another memorable project, as the Austrian resident wraps up another successful year.

Following up the excellent ‘Voda, -102C label manager The Cobb continues his ‘Elements’ series with the third installment entitled ‘Ogon’. Beginning in September with the excellent ‘Veter’, the ‘Elements’ series is a four release anthology whereby the The Cobb creates a track to represent one of the four elements alongside a remix from Dmitry Molosh. The release of ‘Voda’ notched the series’ second installment earlier this month with a predictably great response, and now ‘Ogon’ arrives with equal anticipation.

Continuing his organic ways, The Cobb once again crafts a memorable production in ‘Ogon’. From deep, misty beginnings the Russian artist creates an inviting atmosphere for chunky grooves and pixie-like themes to work their magic. Intriguing vocal elements soon appear, processed for maximum sensory stimulation and sitting nicely in the mix before giving way to a poignant string section. Timeless in style, the main break furthers the musical narrative with an array of luminous motifs and soulful phrasing, the latter of which continues to build and evolve across a wonderfully trippy yet musical finale.

One of the unique things about The Cobb’s ‘Elements’ series is we get to see a different side of Dmitry Molosh. The Belarus artist has explored an organic blueprint on these projects with great success and his remix of ‘Voda’ might be one of the year’s most touching tracks. On ‘Ogon’ Dmitry toughens up the framework with punchier beats and more distinctive percussive details. The funkiness of the groove translates well with thumping stabs delivering monumental bounce while the musical elements remain restrained and tasteful leading into the break. The vocal sits more prominently here, meandering amidst the touching strings and exotic drum arrangements, before eventually melting down to the vocal and a buoyant final act. A classy sounding production from Dmitry which completes the third installment of The Cobb’s ‘Elements’ series and perfectly setting the stage for the December release of ‘Zemlya’.

SDK launched onto the scene earlier this year with the release of their first project - What They Want. With a sumptuous blend of heady melodies and signature vocal hooks, the Vancouver-based duo’s debut on TOR rested perfectly at the centerpoint of underground and familiar. As we step into winter’s grasp, we’ve revisited the project with a revamped touch from two of the scene’s finest; we present What They Want (The Remixes).

Armen Miran is a vital pillar of the deep & melodic scene. With his distinct blend of organic folk tones atop powerful electronica, he’s the godfather of Armenian deep house. Through releases on his own imprint Hoomidas, he’s inspired so many modern producers. We enamoured to welcome him to XYZ, as he whisks What They Want in classic style. Playful house drums get us moving, while ominous synthetics envelop the groove. The vocal chops ebb too and fro throughout the arrangement, with big dancefloor moment’s a-plenty within this Armen masterclass.

Argentina’s invigorating pairing of Nacho Varela & Cruz Vittor has proven illustrious in recent times. They’ve been producing some of the most vivacious & sought-after remixes and edits on the planet, alongside original material on Anjunadeep and Shanti Moscow Radio. The duo comes through again as they twist What They Want to fit their scintillating sound. Swirling melodics stir us into the groove, as a punchy bassline ignites the vibe. A luscious build takes things to another level, offering yet another Nacho & Cruz weapon for the DJs amongst us.

Providing a progressive masterclass in November 2020, Matter’s “Amanita” was a powerful platform for the Australian to release his solo debut EP on Meanwhile. Now, returning to the three-track offering, a trio of remixes create a new perspective.

Matias Chilano is an artist with an impressive and varied portfolio to his name, dating back to a debut for LuPS Records in mid-2008. Over 400 production credits followed as the Argentinean found his work allied to the likes of Roger Martinez’s Higher States, Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music and a pair of tracks on Patrice Bäumel’s ground-breaking 2019 mix for “Global Underground #42 Berlin”. Another Meanwhile debutant, the Matias Chilano remix is a typically powerful offering, redolent in the wonderful rolling rhythms and delightful melodic patterns that have become such a feature of his work. Rippling arps hint at the motifs found in “Hikikomori” as immaculate and imaginative use is made of Matter’s remix components. Building though a fusion of white noise and snare rolls, the track rises and falls with ease in club-friendly manner before a new delay-fuelled synth lead makes its mark in the second half to devastating effect.

A renowned Sri Lankan producer with over 150 production credits to his name, Dimuth K has found himself featured on such renowned imprints as Plattenbank, BeatFreak Recordings and Proton Music. An award-winning DJ with performances alongside Guy J, Sahar Z and Guy Mantzur, Dimuth makes his Meanwhile debut with a driving rhythmic interpretation that treats “Hikikomori” to a ticking percussive groove and seismic kick drum. Using elements of Matter’s bassline to intelligent effect, a beautifully shimmering arp makes its presence felt while a unique sonic tapestry weaves elements from the original into new production material from the Dimuth K production arsenal. The result is an evolving melodic gem that flourishes post-breakdown to mesmerising effect.

An iconic name with a tidal wave of success, GMJ returns with another outstanding remix. A regular contributor to his co-owned label, the Melbourne based star has already lit up Meanwhile with a plentiful supply of original material over 2020 that includes “Mood Medicine” in solo guise, and the “Lost on Origin”, “Eldarin” and “The Path / Perfect Storm” EPs with Matter. Reworking “Wormhole”, the GMJ remix thus continues the rich, rolling groove that forms such a central tenet of his production ideology. Building in pace, melodic references to the original make their play, accompanied by pulsating white-noise washes and trademark reverb and delay-soaked synth lines that extend into the third movement. A deep sub-bass adds weight aplenty and the track waxes and wanes with ease across its near 10-minute timeframe.

Mushrooming into a new sonic adventure, Matter’s “Amanita” is transformed via remixes from Matias Chilano, Dimuth K and GMJ.

From the Middle East to Central America and Russia, a trio of artists blend their talents. Out of the darkness and into the light, Golan Zocher, Gux Jimenez and Mango build a stratified sonic masterpiece from "Only a Shadow". Subtle organic layers amble through a forest of percussive saplings that sit beneath a towering beat and subterranean groove. Emerging in the dappled moonlit shadows, evocative motifs create an eerie atmosphere before a bassline force springs from the undergrowth and into the open, prowling beneath luscious melody.

Harnessing familiar energies from the darkness, Dowden hypnotises with a new poise and grace. "Only a Shadow" forms in the twilight as white noise crashes in pulsating waves. A mesmerising bassline hits the Toronto streets where it forges a path through pinpricks of melodic light and a seething, rolling rhythmic groove. A pioneering sonic architecture is forged from exquisite St Petersburg and Sao Paulo landscapes. Bassline and synth lines fire off each other in playful interaction and melodic beauty swirls in coruscating patterns of delay and intrigue. "Only a Shadow" is transformed into an iridescent array of sonic colour and uplifting brio by K Loveski and Gorkiz.

For ATL053 we welcome back 8Kays to Atlant following her excellent remix of 'Shiver' and stellar original 'Abstraction' on Voyager II. Now seems the perfect time to give 8Kays top billing. With a beautiful vocal from Diana Miro plus stunning remixes from Fur Coat and Musumeci this really is an all star electronic cast.

The original of 'Easy' showcases the sonic artistry of 8Kays as Iryna sets in infectious groove with heavy bass, lush chords, jagged staccato lines and perfectly judged breakdowns to add tension. Diana Miro lays down a mesmerising vocal, her voice full of soul with pure emotion coming through in every word. 'Easy' is certain to feature in many important playlists and charts.

For the first remix we called upon the renowned talents of Fur Coat, a longstanding friend of Atlant and owner of one of our favourite labels, Øddity. Sergio takes 'Easy' into deeper territory with an expansive remix full of swirling heart wrenching keys and tones. The Fur Coat remix is an emotional journey perfect for an intimate dance-floor with the crowd flowing in unison, connected through great music.

The EP closes out with an imperious remix from one of the most important genre crossing artists today, Musumeci. A renowned talent, his touch graces Permanent Vacation, Innervisions, Multinotes, Bedrock, Watergate, Exit Strategy, Engrave and Buttress just to name a few. Always in demand, we're super happy to welcome Mauro to Atlant. His attention to detail and musical ear are second to none - this is reflected in a classy remix brimming with elegance and taste, as well as a purity in dance groove.
