Clubsonica Records rounds out a successful year by welcoming CHRSTPHR to the label for his debut EP. Based in Hungary, Kristof Szabados aka CHRSTPHR first emerged in 2018 with a release via Spiral Music. Noted for his club-effective tech-house sound, it was a cover of Brainbug's classic ‘Nightmare' in 2021 which officially made the Hungarian an artist to watch. The next two calendar years would prove impactful for CHRSTPHR, as he signed on to long-standing tech-house imprints Cr2 Records, Farris Wheel Recordings and Panterre Musique, all outlets where his dancefloor minded approach flourished. Now, following a well-received debut for Coronita Records, CHRSTPHR makes his Clubsonica debut with ‘Anomaly | Miss You', alongside remixes from Kostya Outta and Deviu.

Looking to showcase a more melodic side of his repertoire, CHRSTPHR aims squarely at the dance floor with lead selection ‘Anomaly'. The Hungarian artist masterfully marries astral sonics and emotive vocals with punchy kick drums and rolling grooves. An array of melodic hooks and orbiting effects steal the air across the first act, adding texture and depth leading into the heart of the journey. Coming to full fruition across the main break, it's a clever coax of ghostly vocals and poignant chord changes which creates a hopeful vibe, building anticipation with each successive pass, before giving way to mature drop and effects-laden finale. The companion piece 'Miss You' lands with a deeper, more ethereal approach. Enticing from the start, its punchy grooves, haunted vocal samples and evolving soundscapes marry perfectly for mid-set moments. Pushing the narrative further, a transcendent break sits at the heart of the journey, flowing through soulful guitar motifs and warm bass swells, before a marching drop sets the course for a melancholic conclusion.

The first interpretation of ‘Anomaly' is Kostya Outta. Born and raised in Belarus but now based in Poland, Kostya Outta first emerged just over a decade ago. On the success of early tracks such as 'High Flyers' and 'Silence', Kostya's groovy melodic sound was born, making him a new breed of progressive house producers to watch going forward. World class DJs Eelke Kleijn, Guy J, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, among others, have been steadfast supporters along the way, while releases via Afterglow, Deepwibe Underground and Mango Alley have been discography highlights. Now, following an impressive debut for Cid Inc's Replug Records, Kostya adds Clubsonica to his resume with a huge rendition of ‘Anomaly'. Bringing a progressive state of mind, Kostya carefully balances the emotion of the original with his own melodic groove-centric sound. Re-processed vocals and vibrant melodies steal the air atop punchy beats, chunky grooves and acid-like stabs, for what results in the ultimate dance floor bomb. 

The final interpretation of ‘Anomaly' is Deviu'. Based in Pasto, the Colombian artist began his journey into electronic music production in 2014 under a variety of alias', before eventually settling on Deviu in 2020. Created as an outlet to explore the realms of deep, progressive and organic house, Deviu would go on to secure releases via respected brands in Nick Warren's The Soundgarden, Nora En Pure's Purified and Berlin powerhouse Steyoyoke, where his far-reaching sound immediately found footing. Now, rounding out 2023 on a strong note, Deviu returns to Clubsonica with a spirited take on ‘Anomaly'. While maintaining the elusive spirit of the original, Deviu aims squarely at a peak hour dancefloor with a sweeping sonic experience all his own. An exhilarating journey where spirited vocals, trance-inducing melodies and emotional overlays surface from their energy inducing architecture, resulting in a version that is sure to send people home with a smile.

For its last release of 2023, Tales of Romance welcomes Koelle and his associates for two tunes marrying emotive vocal performances and dance floor proficiency.

‘Melo’ sees Houston-based singer DaddyPrincess describing an odyssey of self-expression over the intertwined arp and shaker. Flickering synths and the bouncy clap come through the track, giving its rises in energy.

On ’To Live’, Koelle teams up with long-standing collaborator Margret. The rolling bassline, dark groove and opening in the arp are matched in intensity by the various ad-libs, breathes and poignant vocal displays. Evident chemistry at play here.

Back for a 4th release on his rapidly rising Proportion imprint, Dmitry Molosh returns with the “Plant Growth / Shine Like a Star” EP.

An iconic name and a relentless force in driving his music to new heights and myriad directions, Dmitry Molosh has been at the vanguard of the progressive house scene for well over a decade. Since first appearing on You So Fat Records in late 2011, the Belarusian’s rise has been nothing short of meteoric. Some 650 production credits later and Dmitry’s music has featured on some of the finest modern independent labels. From Cid Inc.’s Replug and D-Formation’s BeatFreak Recordings to Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music and Nick Warren’s Hope Recordings, Dmitry Molosh has carved out a sizeable niche that finds him one a sought-after figure in a rapidly changing sonic environment.

Creating a growing following and strong identity with his Proportion label, January 2022’s eponymous opener was followed in May the same year by “Small Wonders” with remixes from Hernan Cattaneo & Marcelo Vasami and Mike Griego. January 2023 saw the stunning twin-track, “Shining / Watercolor” as Dmitry Molosh now follows with another diptych of the highest quality.

Opening the EP, “Plant Growth” is characterised by a thumping beat, ticking hi-hat pattern and rolling 16th note bassline. A further bassline adds groove aplenty as multi-faceted layers of sound introduce percussive effects, rising pads and playful melodic touches. Hitting its stride at the midpoint, a sliding arpeggiated motif adds depth and vitality against the emotive pads and string-fuelled breakdown crescendo. Dropping back into an effortless groove in the latter stages, “Plant Growth” is an immaculately conceived piece that is full of dancefloor energy.

Joined by fellow Belarusians, Alexey Zatvornitsky and Upteka, both successful artists in their own rights, the latter is a veteran of almost a century of production credits over more than a decade. “Shine Like a Star” is founded upon a rich, multi-layered percussive top-line that combines organic toms and table with traditional dance floor beats to create a smooth and powerful groove. Ethereal vocal waves follow the deep bassline progression as a loquacious voice rises and falls with emotive passion as the lyrics ultimately expound the “Shine Like a Star” title. Making their presence felt at the stripped-back breakdown with free-flowing guitar phrase, the track picks up the pace again the final stage with the guitar sequence and vocal passage taking centre stage. The result is an impressive collaboration of talent coming together in a sparkling and mesmerising track.

Astral Records rounds out a successful third year by welcoming Against All Ødds to the label for his debut EP. Hailing from Israel and previously known as Mimram, Against All Ødds emerged in 2022 on the strength of past releases via Freegrant Music, Timeless Moment and Parquet Recordings. The Against All Ødds production moniker was introduced to the world via Darin Epsilon's Perspectives Digital as part of the label's 'Around The World' compilation series. Immediately recognized for his astral take on melodic house and techno, the Jerusalem resident would go on to record projects for Beatfreak, Lost On You, Panda Lab and UV Noir, in turn earning praise from the genre's premiere tastemakers. Now, capping off a strong year, Against All Ødds debuts on Astral Records with 'Higher Ground', alongside a remix from Grigoré. Much lauded for his melodic sound, Against All Ødds continues to explore that narrative on 'Higher Ground'. Wrapped within a DJ friendly intro are punchy beats, pulsating basslines and a myriad of orbiting effects. The Israeli's storyboarding takes hold as astral arps, ethereal vocal fragments and crunchy melodies converge, carrying with them a sense of anticipation and emotion. The main break expands the vocal narrative, as operatic phrases steal the air amidst glowing atmospheres and buzzing tones, eventually giving way to a thunderous drop and exhilarating peak time finale. The companion piece 'Empire' continues the energetic mood set by its predecessor and lands with a smooth hypnotic nature. Possessing a mesmerizing undercurrent, Against All Ødds blends entrancing vocals and pyrotechnic stabs over club-effective grooves and effervescent effects, creating a mature no frills arrangement leading into the second act. Its transcendent appeal builds further across a dreamy break, where ghostly vocals and emotive tones converge, perfectly setting up a tension-filled build as a vortex of noise gives way to a colossal finale. The release concludes with Grigoré making his label debut with the lone interpretation of 'Empire'. Since making an impressive debut via Lane 8's This Never Happened in 2021, Hungarian artist Grigore has gone on a two-year creative swell. Beloved for his melodic sound, Grigore would record standout projects for Diynamic, Odd One Out and Renaissance across the next two calendar years, while also returning to This Never Happened, which has become his primary home. Now, as a favourite of global tastemakers &ME, Solomun, Rampa and Yotto, Grigoré makes his Astral debut with a gorgeous take on 'Empire'. Carrying a confident club energy from the start, Grigoré's colourful sonics, airy vocal fragments and emotionally resonant hooks blanket a tight yet groovy framework. With a deeper energy that could win over even the most discerning of fans, it's a journey that becomes heartfelt across the break, as melodies and vocals unite in a whirlpool of textural bliss, making for a sure fire dance floor weapon.

Sol Selectas is pleased to welcome back Spanish artist German Brigante with a stunning solo EP titled “Será El Flamenco”.
As the name suggests, “It Will Be Flamenco” is a fusion of traditional flamenco melodies with electronic grooves and rhythms, and all the recordings are original works, not sampled. This is a family release, with German’s own father Kurry featured on three of the songs on acoustic guitar, and his cousin Agustín performing flute on 2 songs as well. With such strong roots in the Flamenco tradition going back generations in German’s family, we can really feel something special and personal on this release.

“Acido Azul” is a certified dance floor hit, with 303 lines swirling on top of cowbells and a sultry female voice, combined with a dramatic drum roll build-up blasting us into the deep infectious bass lines German is notorious for.

“Açai” really highlights the flamenco guitar mastery of German’s father Kurry, with cousin Agustín backing him up on the flute, and Gitano chants on top.

“Será el Flamenco “ the title track has deep chords and pad progressions to highlight the vocal story being told, on top of another deep bass groove and Kurry’s mesmerizing guitar licks.

“Inquietud” is the perfect track to close this EP, taking the tempo down a notch without losing any excitement or emotion. The track grooves along with bright percussion fills, cosmic arpeggios and the lovely sounds of German’s talented family members.

The artwork by Helia Jamali shows the passion of a Flamenco dancer lost in the rhythms of the Andalusian skies.
