Setting the techno scene alight with his "Pyrogen" EP in the autumn of 2013, Tim Penner's twin-track offering provided the backdrop for the Canadian's unique approach to "frequency manipulation" and genre-twisting music. Now receiving a pair of new interpretations courtesy of James Monro and Chicola, Proton Music is proud to revisit Penner's debut release for the label.

Finding a home in Brazil after touring the globe since the 1980s with a well-established DJ persona, James Monro has ridden the crest of a wave for several decades in a notoriously fickle music industry. Having set up the 4DigitalAudio imprint with production partner Grant Collins, Monro's musical pedigree is a match for any producer. Tracks that have featured on Nick Warren's "Renaissance: Masters Series" in early 2013 and John Digweed's "Structures 2" compilation, are the hallmark of a producer with gold standard credibility. Heavily supported by Hernan Cattaneo, Robert Babicz and Digweed himself, the track "Scarab" was also charted number one by Nick Warren.

Starting out with a pair of remixes as part of the Juan Deminicis and his "Behind The Sun (Remixed)" EP in October 2013, Monro's full solo debut came at the end of the year in the shape of the sublime rhythms and melodies of the "Fonik" EP. Re-envisioning Tim Penner, James Monro has taken "On My Skin" and turned it into a deep progressive number, full of flowing lines and house rhythms combined with a rolling percussive groove. A subterranean pulsing bass line, expertly filtered, provides a bedrock and the melodic themes from Penner's original supply a sublime resonance to create an expertly crafted piece.

Becoming one of Israel's most sought after DJs and producers, Chico Shuella has emerged from his homeland to become recognised as a global force in the underground music industry using his Chicola pseudonym. A regular at Tel Aviv's "Allenby 58" club and a residency at "Haoman 17" have seen him share centre stage with such luminaries as Sister Bliss, Danny Tenaglia and Carl Craig. 130 gigs a year and a successful business in the huge Israeli wedding market has added to Chicola's portfolio, as have a series of productions that has seen his work signed to Tommy Boy, KTA and supported by the likes of Laurent Garnier and Roger Sanchez.

Work since 2011 has seen Chicola forge alliances with Lowbit and Punta del Este, and a recent debut for Proton Music in the form of the deep rhythms of the "Maganda" EP, illustrating his burgeoning talent. Remixing "Strange", Chicola has taken the stirring, razor edged melodic themes running through Time Penner's original and combined them with a delightful lilting groove that hypnotises the listener over its near ten minute journey. Additional synth lines of melodic motifs add a further dimension to create a work of genuine skill and intricacy.

A pair of remixes from James Monro and Chicola have provided another explosive burst as Time Penner's "Pyrogen" heats up once again.

To mark another special chapter in its journey, Melodic Therapy proudly presents a collaborative EP that celebrates powerful and visionary encounters. Elysium is the latest release from Brazilian artist Curol, who joins forces in the studio with three producers from different backgrounds and musical paths: Dimitri Nakov, Tolex, and RUSKAR. Bringing together distinct strengths and identities, the EP features two intense tracks that reflect the diversity and depth of the contemporary electronic scene.

Curol is currently one of the most respected Brazilian artists on the international circuit. Her impressive career includes performances at major festivals such as Rock in Rio, Zamna Tulum, DGTL Amsterdam, Lima and Santiago, as well as Tomorrowland Brazil and Belgium. Her music transcends borders and connects cultures, consistently reaching top positions on the Beatport and Traxsource charts, and earning support from icons such as Black Coffee, Lee Burridge, and the Keinemusik collective.

The title track 'Elysium' is an epic Progressive House journey, created in collaboration with the legendary Dimitri Nakov — known for his 15 years touring alongside Sasha and his work with Bedrock, All Day I Dream, and artists like Björk and The Chemical Brothers — and rising Brazilian talent Tolex, who has received continued support from names such as Adriatique, Vintage Culture, Gordo, and Innellea. The track blends driving percussion, a cinematic atmosphere, and a drop of pure catharsis — crafted to leave a lasting impact on dancefloors worldwide.

Following this, the track 'Retail' takes on a more organic and ancestral approach, the result of a collaboration between Curol and Brazilian producer RUSKAR, a prominent name in the Afro House scene with releases on labels such as Sol Selectas, IZIKI, and Midnight Riders. Inspired by indigenous rhythms and spirituality, the collaboration fuses mystical percussion, dense sonic landscapes, and a rhythmic sensibility that pulses with ancestry and transformation.

This release represents not only a meeting of artists from different generations and origins, but also a statement from Melodic Therapy on the power of collaboration, inner listening, and music as a universal force of connection. Two sides of the same sonic soul — between the euphoria of the dancefloor and the introspection of ritual.
