With the release of his new double album Between the Candle and the Star Ophidian returns to his roots. Between the Candle and the Star is the third Ophidian-album. Previous albums featured sidesteps to other genres, but this time the conscious decision was made to stick to the pure, raw hardcore with which he made his name in the past decennium.

The album title refers to the place humans inhabit in the universe. Ophidian: "The candle is a tiny light, the star the largest we know. We exist somewhere in between." For this album he has teamed up with known acts like Ruffneck, Tapage and The Outside Agency, but also spent quality studio time with new collaborators like Tha Playah and Minckz. 

Also featured are remixes of his tracks by among others Rude Awakening and The Viper. He himself worked on remixes for DJ Promo, Angel and Miss Hysteria.  On the album, disc 1 features mainly the brand new songs and collabs, and disc 2 is a collection of the remixes and tracks recently released on other labels.
