2013 Red Bull Music Academy alum @klokeuk has been keeping himself busy with more exquisite output, recently dropping the 'First Light' EP on Melbourne imprint @subsquared, while also getting his live electronic trio @TRAVANCORE1 off the ground.

Resident Advisor [New Tracks] - Benjamin Brunn - ResoPlanet (Tactics)

One of the low key driving forces at EABE records, producer DJ Lifegoals is now stepping into spotlight with the release of his debut vinyl EP Life Imitates Art. Over the past year the Helsinki-based producer has been the talk of his hometown, gathering momentum with his euphoric live gigs, as well as his eclectic DJ sets at the top venues of Helsinki. 

Especially his live set at The Flow Festival 2018 seemed to perfectly capture the blissful mood of the exceptionally long and hot summer in Helsinki. The same joyous atmosphere is also the dominant one on the Life Imitates Art EP, which musically documents the rare and precious moment when the shores of The Baltic Sea felt more like The Balearic Islands.

The producer, while only recently emerged under the alias DJ Lifegoals, has a long history with electronic music, having started collecting records at the age of 13 under the guidance of a local DJ. The vast range of influences is heard in DJ Lifegoals’ music, that while paying homage to his 90’s house, breakbeat and acid favourites, is constantly surprising listeners with explorations to unsailed seas. Characteristic to DJ Lifegoals’ music is the fine balance between euphoric eruptions of rave-ready moments and more subtle, progressive elements.

With the much-anticipated release of his debut EP, DJ Lifegoals is now looking forward to next summer’s gigs, as well as working on his second EP and remixes for several artists.

DJ Lifegoals:  Life imitates art EP - snippets - (EABE-VINYL-III)

After 5 years of 'Fortnightly Freebies' columns collating our favourite free downloads, we decided to do things a bit differently for the 100th chapter. Introducing 'Big Material', a 19-track 'name your price' compilation that will donate 100% of profits made to Stonewall Housing, a London-based charity supporting some of the most marginalised and vulnerable in our society.

At a time when unfair austerity is increasing inequality and leaving so many behind, we hope to support a community that has given so much to the 'scene' and music we love. Digi-dub abstractions and drifting ambient to kaleidoscopic breaks and newly-coined genre, 'subtle donk', it's a pretty accurate microcosm of the If-Only curation as a whole.

Big Material pulls together music from some of If-Only's favourite artists, with tracks from @apsychicyes, @riveryarra, Material Things (@12th-isle), @priori-ties, @nicholaswilson1982 & @steviewhisper, @benoitb, @maxabysmal, @58daniel, @bogdan-drazic, @whyesss, @twitch, @warzouk, @thomasbakk, @eyemeasure, @rdjm0, @furiousfrank, Moonphase (AKA @cl_lit), @moonbowmusic and @aki-aki.

The first physical media manifestation by Portland producer Dan Kirschner aka Well Being blurs the boundary between warehouse and wilderness, future and nature, free-flowing frameworks of deep house, relaxed acid, and dewdrop electronics: Pleasure Garden. From the sparkling windswept hang-glide of “Deep Sea Exploration” to the slinky forest path jack of “Moon Valley,” the EP encapsulates a spectrum of contemporary Cascadia eco-techno modes and moves: club cuts tricked with crickets, cloud bank pads above damp earth bass, rainforest rave rhythms filtered through studio skylights. Sequenced palindromically, side one is all originals, side two alternate mixes — including an elusive aerial “rebuild” by Pac Northwest peer Akasha System. Step off of the street; stray into the Garden.

PREMIERE: Well Being - Deep Sea Exploration

The two Amsterdam based producers have produced a four track EP under the guise of Darcey Electronics which is out today on the newly launched label Pleasant Life.

The release features four tracks of off centre electronics, kitsch downtempo and electro which comes off the back of independent releases from both artists for the likes of Safe Trip, Off Minor Dial, Intergraded and Voyage Direct.

As close friends the duo have been working hard in their studio in the Dutch capital but this is the first time that they have ever released music together. 

The record is available on both vinyl and digital with only a small handful of stores stocking copies such as Phonica, Public Possession and Rubadub.
