“Dancefloor Memories” is a new compilation, a love letter to the dancefloor, released on the Swiss label Proxima. Its focus is on the epiphanies lived on a dancefloor and translated through 10 tracks + 1 bonus track.

This compilation is curated by Proxima co-founders Audrey Danza and Nicolas Oggier, also representing Motel Campo.

The dancefloor, place of expression, of life, but also real catalyst of memories. We measure all that we built there in the sweat, the brushing of bodies, and the music which transported us: a memory. These key moments, absolutely separate, touching ecstasy or epiphany, are the stories told through “Dancefloor Memories”. Drawing their energy from these moments of unprecedented intensity, those tracks have been produced by artists who have delivered their own interpretation of a strong moment on the dancefloor.

10 tracks including a psychedelic, bewitching and undeniably gripping vision (Trent, Eva Geist), a punchy and percussive, kaleidoscopic and colorful celebration of the dancefloor (Powder, Castro), a futuristic and electro-cataclysmic perception (Neu Verboten, Nicola Kazimir), as well as a melancholic journey (BSS, Belia Winnewisser, NVST) and an introspective vision (Epsilove).

In this compilation, we find regulars Cocktail d'Amore DJs, Trent and Powder but also Castro from the Berlin record-store Sound Metaphors, cutting-edge artists from the Swiss underground scene: Neu Verboten, Belia Winnewisser, Nicola Kazimir or NVST, the Paris-based producer Epsilove, Dutch producer and Dekmantel regular BSS (Beesmunt Soundsystem), and the Italian composer, synthesist and sound designer Eva Geist. 

The bonus track consists of a remix of Neu Verboten's track by Proxima's co-founder and Motel Campo resident dj Audrey Danza.

“Dancefloor Memories” is a new compilation, a love letter to the dancefloor, released on the Swiss label Proxima. Its focus is on the epiphanies lived on a dancefloor and translated through 10 tracks + 1 bonus track.

The compilation echoes a broader project of audio podcasts realized in collaboration with Motel Campo and the publishing house Chahut Media. Season 1 of "Dancefloor Memories" presents 10 episodes: in each one, a guest shares a memory from the dancefloor that has deeply marked his or her life. This memory is combined with a special track produced by one of the producers mentioned above.

Nicola Kazimir - Morrigan

Proxima is pleased to announce the reissue of some of the work of new beat producer Jo Bogaert.

Under various pseudonyms, including Zerocks and 'N UMOH, Thomas de Quincey or Acts of Madmen, Jo Bogaert is considered to be one of the most influential artists in the Belgian new beat scene of the 1980s. He is also the man behind Technotronic and the hit track 'Pump Up the Jam'.

Proxima is releasing a selection of tracks from Zerocks and 'N UMOH on a 12inch.
Includes a remix by Audrey Danza.

Zerocks - You Too (Audrey Danza Space Remix)

Originally released in 1987, « Metropolitan Jungle » by German synth-pop band Cold End is reissued by Swiss label Proxima. Cold End is the second musical project of Katrin A. Kunze, Jürgen Grah and Markus Kammann. Musically, the sound of Cold End was something special back in the time, as a successful fusion of electronic and soul. Dynamic percussions, synth textures and enchanting vocals. Includes an aerial rework by Audrey Danza. All four tracks are freshly remastered!

@cycle_2, a dynamic duo forged by the creative forces of @budinoo and @torvvoo, presents "Expander". @zagczagczagc is a DJ, producer, and installation artist based in Ann Arbor Michigan, just outside Detroit. His music emphasizes texture and fluidity, weaving a dense tapestry of sound pierced by punchy percussion. Believing in the ability of dance music to color visions of an alternate world, it is made as much for forests and caves as it is for a traditional club floor. It dreams of space free from flat surfaces and right angles, something new, and strives to inspire the listener to feel and pursue that dream.

Copenhagen dj and producer @popmix94, has been around in the Copenhagen underground scene for a long time. He is running Axces Recordings alongside friends (Kasper Marott & Alfredo92 etc.) since 2019. 

He has released a certain number of tracks and records on his own imprint, but he has also been putting out music on the Norwegian label UTE under the moniker Wilberforce. He is also functioning as a mix engineer.

To in frame Popmix as an artist and a sound, he is exploring undergrounds genres in a characteristic manner. Being mostly influenced and inspired by a broad range of genres and subgenres within the realms of techno, trance, house, IDM and more experimental music. He is using strong caricatures and often melodies to express his typically naïve interpretation of club/dance music. Mostly building his tracks in a conventional compositional way, there is a multifunctionality inscribed in the music, since it is indented to flourish not only in a club context, but also in more conventional settings.
