Keeping with the trend of 2016, we have another new artist with us at Proximity, with an EP that is set to cause huge waves in the scene. Alpha Q lets us in, exclusively, to his world, with Abort Code. It is an EP filled with ingenuity, originality and unique sounds. A top EP!

Euphoria is the byword as Abort Code opens up with its title track. There is a sense of gentle floating which soon gives way to realness, deep throbs and riddim vocal sample leading to choppy business of the best kind. As the track gets increasingly hectic the euphoric synths can be heard trying to resist, eventually winning over as it all subsides. 

The second coming of course turns out to be even harder than the first. A stylish opening to a stylish EP. As you move through to Displaced the energy really starts to pick up, as we’re hit with a flurry of kick drums. The track favours the traditional hard D&B style, it is a track that truly delivers. There is no way that this tune would not get people moving, a self-declaring banger. This is a rolly number that hits hard. 

When you reach The Realness you’re well past the halfway mark as the 3rd track on the EP opens with sounds that reverberate inside the skull in such a way that you feel lost in your own head. The drum beat itself is forward-thinking and strays from the traditional amen style driving the entirety of the track.

Our final outing with Alpha Q, Long Pig,  will drop you directly into in the deep end. This is what unchartered territory feels like, again a pioneering sound which revels in its uniqueness.

PROX083 - ALPHA Q - DISPLACED

Rapidly formed in early 2010 Proximity Recordings has been brought to the stage by a group of like minded individuals who have the means and capabilities to put out high quality dance music at an alarming rate whilst still managing to maintain originality and diversity within every release.
