Aaaaaah Tetris Max... I will forever hold thjs song in my heart, from the days of ye ol' Mac 2ci, I still have this running around up there constantly.  Always had a US-release "Legend" kind of vibe that I love.

Written and recorded some time in 1991 or 1992.

If there's any one song of mine that has gotten me fan mail over the years it's definitely T-Maxx. T-Maxx is also the oldest song I've recorded. I can still remember hanging out in my parent's basement after college and composing it while they had company over. This was probably in the Summer/Fall of 1991. The song appeared in the Macintosh game Tetris Max and the PC game Bricklayer - both of which were excellent Tetris clones.

Instruments used: Roland D-70, Roland D-10, Yamaha TX16W, Roland R-8.

A couple re-mixes/re-makes have appeared on the 'net of T-Maxx. I'm very flattered that some people like the song enough to put a lot of time and hard work into making them:

HISTORY:
I originally wrote parts of this song some time around 1986 or 1987 on a Roland Juno 60. I had a crappy, drums-less 4-track recording of it, and the song had no name. I thought that was the end of that song.

Then in either late 1992 or early 1993, I downloaded a new shareware Tetris clone on my Mac, called Tetris Max, programmed by Steve Chamberlin. This game had me hooked, but I found it odd that the game has music samples from a band called Jesus Jones (one of my favorite bands at the time). I reached out to Steve and offered to send some songs on a cassette and if he wanted, he could feel free to use any of it in his game. I wasn’t looking to make any money, I just wanted people to hear my music. My only request was that if Steve used one of my songs, that I get a name and email address credit in the game.

He agreed to listen to some songs — some I already had recorded, but I also re-recorded that original, unnamed song on the newer equipment I had at the time (Roland D-70, Roland D-10, Roland R8M, Yamaha TX16W and a Mac running Performer software). I mailed a cassette to Steve, and he happened to choose that song among the four or five that I included. At that point, I named the song “T-Maxx”.

The game enjoyed some success, and I was surprised to get several hundred emails over the years from people telling me that they liked the song. It warms my heart when every once in a while someone new reaches out to me at that old email address to tell me how they remember the song, or loaded up the game in an emulator and heard it for the first time. Some people have even done remixes and their own versions of the song, including a very excellent dubstep version.

Hard to believe, I originally wrote this song over thirty years ago. I hope you all still enjoy it, and I hope you like this new version. Maybe I’ll re-record it again in another thirty years!

“FIVE-four” (R31M4GIN3D)

I was addicted to the Macintosh version of Tetris, TetrisMAX, in the 90s. This was the main music from it, which I've remixed.

The composer of this piece is Peter Robert Wagner. The man is a genius, to say the least
