Surfing At Sunrise

I was inspired as I was driving home from work and heard the song, "Great I Am" on the radio. I took the same basic chords of the chorus and used them in this trance song. Despite having the same chords, my melody is quite different. This took 12+ hours to make. I experimented with automating the cutoff frequency of the kick, and with creating pads that give a soothing sound (I added separate channels for the hi's, low's, and mid's and used lots of reverb).

Special thanks to Rachel Halbach for providing the vocals for this track and to Trevor De Jong for providing the picture. I heard Oceans in church one Sunday and thought it would make for a great trance song. Enjoy and God Bless.

I thought I'd try a musical style besides trance and this is the result. Believe it or not, this song was a lot easier to make than many of my trance songs. Enjoy.

Finite Flight

I'm pleasantly surprised with how well this song turned out. I had a similar chord progression in another song I was working on, but I found that this song was easier to work on. I was about to leave my house and pick up some tennis balls when this melody came to me. So I turned around, got on my computer, and quickly created an .FLP file with the basic melody and chords. I didn't realize till later that the chord progression is the same as the one in Pachelbel's Canon. Some chords progressions never go out of style.

A special thanks goes out to Miranda and Matt for the photo. It fits the story that pops into my head as I listen to this track. When the beat drops at :29, I imagine myself hopping in a convertible--top down--and taking a road trip with my friends with no plans on where to go or what to do. It doesn't matter. It's summer, the sun is high in the sky, and I'm in good company. I hope this song brings back the happy memories you made with friends and encourages you to  make some more.
