A collection of mixes showcasing my taste in track selection, given a variety of assignments.
Most of these were quick mixes through playlists without practice, the intent is to provide a VIBE reference point. This is the vibe I bring.
I usually put in 10-15 hours prep time for each paid gig, devoted to track arrangement and detailed mapping of cue points and loops, so execution at the event is seamless. 
I play dance music for the love of dance. Period. The only reason I'm out here doing this is to curate space for dancers, while I join them behind the decks, raising the energy and getting my cardio!

EPK: Sample Platter Promo Mixes

Errybody loves a good twerk set, except for the haters. Haters hate twerk. However, my twerk sets in past years had a lot of what I consider to be negative and misogynistic content. So, I set a goal to create a good booty/twerk mix that was more positive.

This mix was actually episode #121 of Glitch in the System. You'll notice there's a track later in the mix with two of the "seven words." I had to hit the dump button on the broadcast and transition out of the track, which happened somewhat awkwardly. ;)

GiTS 079: Swing With Me

This is the two hour ecstatic dance mix I played on June 8th for the Boise Ecstatic Dance group. 

Intention for the Dance:


The journey begins in hell, where we all live, burdened by fears, self-doubt, and the lies about ourselves that we have received from the word others, including our parents. These lies transmitted by the word of others may have been negative, such as “you’re lazy, you’re not artistic, you’re not pretty.” The lies could have been well intentioned, “you’re pretty, you’re smart, you’re hardworking.” But what these lies do is work to fashion beliefs about ourselves that are narrow, debilitating, and act as blocks to living as luminous, loving beings of light.

With us in hell is the rainbow feathered serpent, Quetzalcoatl, god of intelligence and self-reflection, patron of sages. Identifying a powerful lie within ourselves, we speak this lie, hearing its untruth, and then we speak truth. 

“The lie is that I am lazy, and a procrastinator; the truth is that I am an active doer and creator, involved in many things.”

“The lie is that I am smart and hardworking and should always be productive; the truth is that I am creative and passionate and I can spend time doing things for their own sake, simply because I enjoy them.”

We stand before the great serpent Quetzalcoatl, we release these lies, which scatter like dried grass in the wind that is the breath of Quetzalcoatl. Although not yet free of fear, we nonetheless leap with faith into the mouth of Quetzalcoatl. The serpent devours us. Covers us.

Inside, we come to the edge of a river, across which there is a bridge. There stands the Angel of Death, with a loving smile upon her face. We are asked to stare into a mirror of black obsidian, to look into the eyes of our reflection and see the reflection of ourselves and our personal vision of heaven. What does that heaven look like? The Angel of Death uses a blade of feathers to cut all remaining ties to our fears and our old selves, then invites us to cross the bridge into heaven. We move further into the digestive track of Quetzalcoatl.

As we move slowly along, we are in stages refined by the elements. Earth provides us a place to bury our old, physical bodies. We continue as beings of light. 

Water from deep within the body of Gaia wells up to flow through us, healing wounds to the sacred feminine,  healing wounds to our image of the sacred feminine that were our mothers. Flowing and flowing, the waters flow through us, our mothers, our grandmother, our great grandmother, healing all the wounds. 

Air lifts us up, freeing the heavy burdens of the constantly active mind that is ever assuming the thoughts of others, and running in circles of fear. 

Fire lights up within our hearts, activating us as spiritual beings: bright, powerful, loving beings. We salute the sun, warm giver of life. Echo of the Divine Source and the fire within all our hearts.

Moving further inside Quetzalcoatl, and now refined by the four elements of creation, the fifth element, ether, activates our etheric double. With each step along the path behind us, a little more of the doubts, fears, and lies have fallen away, until now we can move forward in our etheric bodies. Free. 

With our etheric bodies, we now move down the long Avenue of the Dead. We move toward the Moon. With our eyes on the soft, silver Moon, we move as ghosts. Along the Avenue of the Dead there are people who still live under the spells that lies and fears have cast, but they cannot see us unless we stop and give them our attention. We keep our eyes on the Moon and move forward, steadily. 

Arriving at the soft and beautiful Moon, that white light of creation emanating from the center of our etheric bodies and rippling with flashes of emerald light from our hearts shines ever brighter, connecting and enshrouding those around us. The light shines brighter and expands. It fills the space around us, it expands to fill and cover the city, the land, growing and growing until it contains the whole planet. Outward and outward, across the universe until it can no longer be measured. 

Slowly, we become aware of ourselves in an entirely new way. We feel our bodies. We move. We laugh. We release. We look into the eyes of other luminous beings around us, and we see ourselves. We look at the Moon, and we see ourselves. We look at the world and the vast, sweeping universe, and we see ourselves. There is no end, there is no division. We are Light. 

We continue to move…towards the Sun, that bright, active, pulsing star that has shone upon us for our entire journey, even here in the deep guts of Quetzalcoatl. As we ascend to the Sun, the last lingering fears and attachments to our old selves are burned away. Masculine and Feminine, we trace the paths of the Twin Serpents, the double helix, the matrix of all life. Light and free, we rest within ourselves. We no longer think of doing; we are filled with being. The only things with us are the spiritual gifts we have been given, and the powerful allies which accompany us. 

Through the sun, we are born out of Quetzalcoatl. We arrive in a familiar world as new creatures. Beings of light and love, endowed with many gifts and powers. Although the world is familiar, the eyes which see it have changed. We laugh. We follow our heart’s desire to connect with others, to love others. We move and continue to move. Just as the earth moves around the sun, and the sun hurtles around the galaxy, and the galaxy spins and moves through the ever-expanding, ever-dividing Multiverse.

Devoured By Quetzalcoatl (Ecstatic Dance Mix)

Psycache is a multi-genre DJ for hire in Boise, ID and the Pacific Northwest. Psycache began DJing on vinyl in 2002, and switched to digital controllers in 2010. 

He hosted Glitch in the System on KRBX radio boise for 5 1/2 years, and has played at festivals from Sawtooth Valley Gathering to Treefort to Burning Man.

Psycache's love for sharing music is born from his love of dance. Each track selected is held and compared to the scheduled set time, the venue, potential crowd demographics, and expected vibe. Will it sustain the dancers in that moment? The answer must be yes.
