RootBound 2022

Submission for the Bad Snacks Lucky remix contest. Inspired by the 90's house sound on the original track, I explored it through the lens of early 90's mid-tempo pop and the modern glossy hyperpop style.

Of the original stems, I used:
-Drums (chopped to MIDI and created a drum kit from it for my own beat)
-Dry Vocal (also processed with a vocoder)
-Lead Vocal
-BG Vocals
-Vocal Chops (with some beat chopping and slight vocoded filter to match the harmonic flow of my chord progression)
-Arpeggio (got a bit granular with it, which was fun)

Cicadas have an exceptionally loud song, produced in most species by the rapid buckling and unbuckling of drumlike tymbals. This particular species has an affinity for dark and deep subterranean beats.
