Es beginnt nicht mit einem Paukenschlag. Es beginnt im Flüstern.

Mit "Kleine Schritte ins Dunkel" erhält die Welt von "Hinter uns das Land" eine neue, weise Stimme: Gisbert, der Großvater des kleinen Albrecht aus dem Roman. Es ist die Stimme eines Mannes, der ein langes Leben gelebt und die feinen Risse im Fundament der Gesellschaft schon früh erkannt hat. Seine Warnung ist keine laute Anklage, sondern ein schwermütiges Klagelied über eine Welt, die sehenden Auges auf den Abgrund zugeht.

Der Song ist eine zeitlose Parabel darüber, wie Freiheiten schleichend erodieren – durch Worte, die gestrichen werden, durch Zäune, die unscheinbar wachsen, und durch ein Schweigen, das lauter ist als jeder Protest. Eine karge, eindringliche Ballade, getragen von einer Stimme, die die Last der Voraussicht in sich trägt.

It doesn't start with a bang. It starts with a whisper.

I think this is the one where I used a classic soul progression. The packaging at the start that imitates a DJ scratch rhythm came when I accidentally touched a mi goreng pack of noodles around the mic and it fit so I used that. The stop start is influenced by ‘I Try’ by Macy Grey. Then a trademark 4 layers of cello for the chorus. It’s 4 layers cos that’s how I get the cellos to have enough power that I want. First time doing a vocal ’staccato’ sort of chorus like ‘Work Song’ by Hozier which is my fave Hozier song cos’ maybe I’ve overplayed ‘Take Me to Church.’ At the end a brief bit of funk. I remember trying something more complex but the classic James Brown sort of funky riff worked better so I used that.  The second verse is influenced by the production of ‘Hold On’ by Bishop Briggs with the claps. Then, a neopolitan chord for the bridge.  The last chorus has the 2nd chord flattened like ‘Imperfect For you’.  Also a harmonic minor scale being played by the synth lead which reminded me a bit of Just Like You Imagined by NIN. So we’re not lyrically referencing 300 anymore but musically referencing it. The horns are a new addition which I did just based on … what I thought might sound good. The verses/bridge are new but the chorus is from last year. Oh yeah I did reference FNM's Ricochet for the bridge. King for a Day is Spiderman's fave FNM record. Should just hired as a consultant when their biographies are due. Correcting people like, "nah it was a sunny day when that event happened." Yes, the weather is important. Details are important.

Speaking of mi goreng which I discovered in my 1 year of boarding school in Australia. “I do hope my overpriced education doesn’t offend you.” I remember looking at it and thinking it was strange that it had no broth. Then, tasting it and going “ this is amazing.” It’s wonderful how an Indonesian noodle brand has gained popularity in Australia. Other than that, I do miss the meat pies and Shapes (they are a good snack). It was also at boarding school that I discovered Meri lewa which was played once a week by the PNG boys.

“Ulysses, Penelope and Paul, The Pilgrim – The Myth Untold, pt.2” is a musical work that weaves narrative, poetry, and faith into a maritime journey where wind, destiny, and divine promise collide. Inspired by Paul’s voyage to Rome as told in the Acts of the Apostles, the song also echoes elements of Greek mythology—not as spiritual equivalence, but as symbolic contrast between human wisdom and divine revelation. 

The presence of Ulysses (Odysseus) serves as a literary metaphor, not as an object of devotion. This music does not promote religious syncretism, but rather uses mythological references as narrative backdrop to exalt the sovereignty of the Christian God. Paul the Apostle is portrayed as the true pilgrim—not guided by oracles, but by angels of the Lord and the unshakable Word of God. 

Each verse is an invocation of faith that withstands the storm, of hope that does not sink, and of a promise that remains firm even when the ship breaks apart. The glory belongs not to man, nor to myth, but to the God who saves, guides, and fulfills His sovereign will. 

This song was composed for the exclusive glory of the Christian God, and its message is clear: faith in Christ is the anchor that sustains the pilgrim amid the chaos of the world.

From the live houses of the Jing to busking in tunnels (Granted, the 33.3% donation rate was based on the fact that he had removed his stifling white collar shirt and was dancing bare chested) in Singapore, Psychedelic Revolution (aka Psyche Rev) is a one man project that likes most things such as alt r&b and alt rock. Made it as a semi finalist in 'Song of the Year' competition in 2022 with his song 'Cassius.' Finalist in 2023 with 'We'll Go Down.' Finalist in 2024 with 'Sigh' and also taking semi finalist positions with 'Heartbeats & Inner Turmoil' and 'You Had Me'. Finalist in 2025 with 'Cold Cold Storm' and semi finalist with 'So Typical.' Tastes like Kung Pao Chicken. Looks like a cross between Brag Pitt and Heath Leather. Smells like team spirit. Feels like baby powder. Oh the music. Yeah, it sounds good.

Daily Musing:
Yeah. 4th year in a row. Happy about it. Happy that I wasn't awarded anything in 'rock' again.  4 months left to still compete. It's been an honour to play for you all as usual. 

October: I think I'm gonna do a chill hop/jazz hop thing with Coltrane changes. Done a instrumental before but never done a vocal jazz hop thing.
It's going well. Pretty exhausting because of how much brain power is used to decide what scale to play over the Coltrane changes. Easily the most 'jazziest' thing I've ever done. Tho it's hip hop. So when it comes time to explain the song I've forgotten about half the scales I'm using. Will probably be out end of the month.
