East-London's Riva Starr joins Defected's illustrious list of House Masters as he continues to establish himself as one of the world's top DJs and producers. Growing up surrounded by the rich musical culture of Southern Italy, Starr's influences come from all over; the sounds of Africa, Greece, Spain and the Balkans are ever-present within his revered house releases. Paul Rudder and Hurlee link up once again to deliver a batch of soulful house anthems, this time with their 'Got To Be' EP via Flat White Records. After teaming up with Jamie Jones to release ‘Rushing’ earlier this summer, Darius Syrossian returns to Defected for his latest musical output. ‘Come On Come On’ sees the DO NOT SLEEP resident flex his musical muscles by exploring a range of influences throughout, engineering the same soulful vocal sample to provide two genre-defying cuts. Opening with ‘Kouka’, a track that rumbles through with its intensified bass and tension building drops set to rock the most intense of sound-systems, while the vocal interlude at its centre adds diversity and intrigue. This is followed with the title track, where Darius delivers a dose of upbeat driving house, with a rubbery bouncing bassline and a chopped-up version of the vocal, delivering serious end-of-summer vibes. By exploring a number of avenues of sound with the same sample, ‘Come On Come On’ shows Darius’ breadth of musical knowledge, with a release that will keep a crowd on their toes.

As Roland Clark’s delivers his emotive spoken word narrative, David’s rolling bassline and percussive breaks bring his signature brand of soul-laden house. In 2019 Oliver Dollar made his Classic Music Company debut with the incredible 14-track collection Another Day Another Dollar. The album was an adventurous artistic statement, showing off a wider breadth and depth of sound than ever before, and was received with critical acclaim. Now three of the stand out tracks from the album get the remix treatment from some of Classic’s nearest and dearest. Opening the release, Classic founder Luke Solomon and the sparkling Honey Dijon come together to remix one of the stand out cuts, ‘John’s Church’. Originally produced in collaboration with German producer Nils Ohrmann, the pair intensify the steamy, gospel-tinged track, lacing in atmospheric keys and tension-building drops that take the dancefloor number to new dimensions. Up next, Snatch records founder Riva Starr drops his remix of ‘Crusader’, featuring Jason Hodges. Illustrating Riva’s signature dancefloor focused style, this transformative remix moves away from the stripped-back original, with a rolling bass and deep, swelling pads. Finally, Kelly G. delivers his Defected Dub of ‘The Delta’ to round off the release, taking the dreamy piano house of the vocal-led original and making it club friendly, with a bassline you can’t help but groove to.
