Pittsburgh Track Authority follow up their 2020 “PA System” album with a blazing new single “Slide” featuring the vocal talents of Brandon Markell Holmes.  The 7am Mix takes it deep with shuffle and swing, a deep rolling bassline and a soaring vocal breakdown.  The Drum mix features banging percussion, and a twisted chord loop for maximum dancefloor impact.  Shawn Rudiman’s remix brings warm acid funk vibes, effected vocals, and modulated synth riffs.  The Dub mix brings a tight dub techno bass rhythm, short punchy chords, and a laid back arrangement for a solid groove.

Pittsburgh Track Authority are a production and DJ trio formed by Preslav Lefterov, Thomas Cox and Adam Ratana.

Formed in the same city as Andy Warhol and Wiz Khalifa, although arguably less known, this outfit has been producing some amazing records for the last 5 years.

They run the labels Pittsburgh Tracks, Love What You Feel, Machine Age Records, and Hill View Entertainment out of Machine Age Studios, where they record all their material as well as other local bands and artists. As residents at the monthly Hot Mass parties, their contribution to Pittsburgh's scene has been persistent since the 90’s and has seen them perform is some of the best venues around the world, including The Bunker (NYC) or Panorama Bar (Berlin).

Although PTA might be known for their House tracks, their musical range goes way beyond that. Not afraid to embrace all kinds of good music, their 10TRAX showcases perfectly their eclectic spirit. From Enya to Vybz Kartel and working its way through some Fela Kuti, there is something for everyone here.

We would like to thank Preslav, Thomas and Adam for this amazing mix. We truly find inspiring all the work they have done and do to put their city in the map, and we can only wish to someday do the same in Madrid.

Here's a new one from me. I've been asked about this one loads recently and it's actually a remix rather than an original production. I was asked by Nervous Records to pick a track from their back catalogue to remix, for their 25 year anniversary celebrations. Initially it was a daunting task considering how many iconic tracks they've released over the years. After a few days digging, I remembered this ambient interlude mix that Francois K did of Kim English back in '97, and I always loved the chords that come in towards the end. It's the first time I have done a remix of a remix, hope you enjoy!

Consciousness Proliferation (Back 2 93 Mix)

Despite having a discography that dates back to the last millennium, Pittsburgh’s Shawn Rudiman has never quite enjoyed the spotlight he deserves. His often analog electro and techno manages to be tough but not austere, and it has come under his own name as well as in the duo THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) on a range of boutique labels. He’s a prolific artist who this month looks back on his career with a two disc retrospective, Timespan on Pittsburgh Tracks, that offers largely brand new tracks which “go from base-level warehouse to more cerebral sophistication”. 

That versatility shows when he lays down one of his mesmeric live shows, as he has done for us in this exclusive new set. It’s just 45 minutes long but packs a lot in, from soul infused Detroit techno to elastic house. Passages of serenity are often followed by a heavily percussive wake-up call or serrated acid line, but never do things feel forced. From dark to light, visceral to beautiful, it has many different moods and is a great reminder of the talents of one of techno’s lesser known stars.
