Daniel Andrews backs Victorian Firefighters

"The MFB has revealed it plans to cut firefighting resources when the weather is colder - even though most house fires and fatalities happen in winter.  They'll take eight water tankers off the road.  These are the truck that respond to freeways that don't have their own water supply, as well as aircraft incidents at Melbourne, Essendon and Moorabbin airports.  This gamble by the MFB was outlined on ABC 774's Jon Faine program."

A Geelong Liberal candidate in the November state election is being accused of provoking unions after gate-crashing a peaceful demonstration at Belmont at the weekend.

Professional Geelong firefighters were handing out pamphlets detailing the Napthine government's cuts to fire services when Geelong candidate Paula Kontelj walked into the frey and began handing out party material. (Courtesy Rob McLennan K-Rock/BayFM)

Minister Jane Garrett recently used a disgusting metaphor to describe negotiations with the UFU. She made the comment that she has "tried to talk them off the ledge" at a time when the fire service is in the midst of a mental health crises with the rates of suicide increasing.
