My annual tradition of writing my mom a song for mother's day continues: 

Growing up in my home, the youngest on of five

My mother had a talent when we did something bad,

Who'd she want? We couldn't tell.
She'd always call out everybody's name.

01 Overture For Easter Morning

Growing up, my family used to sing together. About 20 years ago, my dad recorded himself singing several of our family favorites with his guitar. That recording was messed up and the only copies remaining have a terrible buzz. My dad turned 80 this year and for his birthday, I arranged and orchestrated nine of these songs and took him to studio to re-record this album. Enjoy the songs we sang for many years, in the living room, around my dad's guitar.

My latest project: the Christmas portion of the Messiah written for young voices.  I tried to keep it as close to the original but arranged it for length and range.
We are using this with our children's and youth choirs combined so some pieces have a baritone part written in there.

Today is #NationalDayofHappiness. About two weeks ago, I saw a video (link in comments) of a sweet little girl named Lily at Giant Food Store helping bag groceries. She was so happy helping someone she didn't know. The cashier was so gracious and kind... the whole thing just made me happy.
I don't write "pop" style music much and I am barely a white belt in the recording arts (forgive the sloppy mixing) but here's the song inspired by this little girl's smile. Special shout out to my nephew Jake who helped me with the vocals. This is not his normal style of music (he's waaaaay cooler) but I twisted his arm and he lent his talents. Go check his stuff out on Spotify (link in the comments) and make him happy. 
Lily, whoever you are, keep smiling. You make us happy.
