Thinking what to do with all this new time. 
 Kapitan & Malka Tuti presents Home Alone, a series of personal recordings, unedited jam sessions, freaked out podcasts and live recordings, all in an attempt to help us transcend this unprecedented peculiar situation we are all stuck in aka social isolation. 

 In this series we will see Kapitan (and other friends?) contribute contemporary (fresh fresh from the oven) sonic excursions from the belly of their quarantined living room studios. The idea is simple, 10-20 minutes of raw emotions, playfulness and character, recorded and uploaded as quick as possible for your isolated pleasure……  

If you are looking to disconnect, just for a bit, to close your eyes and dive into someone else’s psyche, or if you are looking for help in imagining an alternative reality, anything but this current reality, then this is the place, and now is your time…

"Ho iniziato a lavorare a questi mix durante la quarantena a Milano, quando il vuoto che mi circondava ha accentuato la nostalgia per Vilnius, città dove ho studiato e lavorato per quasi tre anni prima di tornare in Italia. Vivere nella capitale lituana ha anche cambiato profondamente il mio gusto e il mio approccio alla musica. È lì che ho scoperto e mi sono affezionato ad alcune delle tracce presenti nei mixtape, che appartengono a culture musicali per noi talmente “esotiche” da sembrare doppiamente underground nel contesto italiano. Attirato dall’idea di far condividere questa fascinazione, ho passato buona parte dei weekend durante il lockdown a cercare musica prodotta in URSS e a studiarne il contesto. Più ne trovavo di interessanti più sentivo l’esigenza di creare un vero e proprio viaggio che ne ripercorresse le atmosfere.

Lo definisco un viaggio, più che selezione musicale, per due motivi. In primis, fare mixtape può essere visto come una pratica narrativa: che tu lo voglia o meno, attraverso la successione dei brani che hai scelto e i cambi fra un brano e l’altro, stai creando un racconto. In più, l’approccio che ho finora adottato nel fare mix è quasi più da storico che da dj, in quanto le tracce vengono selezionate non in base a un genere o a un mood specifico, ma più per un periodo o un tema storico che mi interessa indagare un’area geografica ben precisi. Mi piace l’idea un po’ stramba di fare mixtape come mezzo di divulgazione storica, oppure, dall’angolazione opposta, far diventare una ricerca storica un prodotto di intrattenimento".
