Sam Paganini - Rave

Foremost international techno outlet Drumcode is delighted to announce the release of its next full-length album, ‘Satellite’, by enduring Italian techno talent Sam Paganini.

Though he has been active since the mid nineties, recent years have been hugely successful for Sam, with searing techno EPs coming on revered labels such as Riche Hawtin’s Plus8, Sven Vath’s Cocoon and of course, Adam Beyer’s Drumcode. In his time he has been responsible for underground hits like ‘Zoe’, ‘Polyester’ and ‘Fire In My Arms’, all of which demonstrate his dynamic understanding of sexy, dark and hypnotic techno grooves and at the same time have earned him plenty of great Beatport chart positions as well as respect from the best in the game.

Incredibly, ‘Satellite’ is Sam’s first full-length album. Informed by his DJ gigs at legendary places like Berghain in Berlin and Cielo in New York, the album starts with a dystopian bit of sonic scene setting, as if a space ship is charging up ready to take off.

From there it’s a case of getting straight down to business. ‘Another Chance’ is a spacey bit of cantering techno and ‘White’ is rooted in devastating kick drums and is riddled with serrated synth lines that build lots of great techno pressure. ‘Down’ is an undulating bit of funky techno complete with choice vocal flourishes and tracks like ‘Lotus’ are prime offerings from the deeper end of the scale.

No two tracks sound the same on Satellite: Sam is always teasing out a new bit of texture, nailing a slightly different vibe or exploring different amounts of light and dark throughout the course of this most excellent album. This is evidenced by diverse cuts like ‘Dusty’, ‘Toxic’ and ‘Rave’.

Despite ‘Satellite’ being Sam’s debut album, it showcases his seductive style in all its glory across 12 fantastic tracks that will leave you begging for more.

We are happy to welcome Maceo Plex to Drumcode with the fourth instalment of his Conjure series, ‘Conjure Infinity’. Featuring two tracks ‘Conjure Dreams’ and ‘Conjure Floyd’, both are peak time monsters that introduce two very different elements. ‘Conjure Dreams’ utilises a groovy, melodic bass that is reinforced using tight thumping drums to shatter any dance floor into the universe. ‘Conjure Floyd’ builds into a more ‘heads down’ techno vibe with a very interesting breakdown. Two sure fire tracks to ignite the floor.

Dutch producer and DJ Reinier Zonneveld is racking up accolades about as fast as new fans are losing their shit to his far reaching beats. Having already released on Richie Hawtin’s Minus label and the ever-influential Traum Schalplatten, Zonneveld’s latest, an EP titled Rushchamber, is out on the increasingly important Stil Vor Talent, an imprint run by tastemaker Oliver Koletzki.

The 3-track EP captures the variation Zonneveld is known for and kicks off with “Sharp Bust,” a careening, pure techno number with detuned horns and whirring rushes. The titular track 2, “Rushchamber,” weaves in groovier house influences in the beat, and “Flatchat” levels off somewhere in the middle. The collection reflects the wide palate that Zonneveld, who was raised on classical music, brings to the studio.

Enrico Sangiuliano makes his return to Adam Beyer's Drumcode with the highly anticipated EP ‘Moon Rocks’.

Enrico Sangiuliano began his career through illegal raves in Italy. In recent years, Enrico began putting his releases out into the international techno scene with rhythmic, deep, hypnotic and technological tracks, exuding techno from the heart. His work has been supported, selected and played by the likes of John Digweed, Carlo Lio, Monika Kruse, Christian Smith, Joseph Capriati, Ramon Tapia, Steve Lawler and, of course, Adam Beyer. In fact, if you were in attendance at Awakenings this year, you would have heard this fat bassed monster closing out the main man's set, now set to release as part of an electric, eponymous EP.

Today, we proudly premiere the EPs title track. Packed with booming percussion, intricate synths and brooding crescendos, this one's not for the faint of heart.

Last spotted on VIVA’s 10-year celebration album ‘Decadedance’ last November, the mighty Groove Armada return to Steve Lawler’s stable for their first full single on the label… And nobody’s messing around here. The whole release smacks of every single thing we all love about both the duo and VIVA: A shared love for all things deep, dark and dirty, the return of one of the UK’s most iconic, cult MCs Slarta Jon and a mystery bass synth known only as Machine 101. We’ll let GA’s Andy Cato explain…

"When we closed the Other Stage at Glasto 2008, there were two complaints. One was from air traffic control at Heathrow because of the lasers. The second one was from the bass bin monitor due to the sounds coming from our DIY rewired bass synth. This machine, known as machine 101, was rediscovered eight years later behind a pile of tapes from the Black Light sessions. Never stable, it was now unusable, except for the single note and sound that came out when it was turned on. But it was quite a sound. So we let him roll, throwing in
some percussion from the local rhythm ensemble and Slarta's rising tirades. And so, against all expectations, 101 is back, with one last run at creating some dancefloor magic before he goes back behind the tapes for ever."

A low-end Lazarus; machine 101’s annihilating singular notes thunder through the track, characterising it with a certain sense of analogue danger that refreshingly counters the pristine over-finessed productions rife on today’s floors. With Slarta throwing down one of his signature spiralling hype flows, this really will have bodies,
minds and souls jumping and shouting in all the best ways.

Remix-wise Jamie Jones pays so much respect to the original he’s turned in two remarkable versions: The Drip Drop remix bumps with a warm synth bass groove that builds at Jamie’s command, gradually bouncing off Slarta’s rant with subtle elements of acid dripping into the second chapter. The Sponge remix, meanwhile, is a sharper, spikier piece of heads-down acid house. Creepy, edgy with a slight vapour trail of Black Strobe, this has 3am stamped into its very DNA.

Timeless rolling, rough-edged body-shaking house music in three of its purest, headiest forms… Plus a dub and cool story about lasers thrown in for good measure. As we said, nobody is messing around here.

Drumcode has become a label synonymous with some of the most-cutting edge and forward-thinking techno over the last 20 years. Their artists include both emerging and established names, and one of those well recognised is Enrico Sangiuliano. Now announcing the very first concept album of his career.

The prolific Italian producer has been catapulted into the limelight after the runaway success of his past releases, and now Biomorph is born. 

A very special concept album designed to take the listener on a journey of evolution. A musical adaptation describing how biological and technological advances over numerous generations of time have all started from the same first step in our own biological journey.

Divided into 4 parts, Organisms opens with atmospheric tones, gradually blending complex textures and timbres to begin the evolutional process. The beginning of this section combines full sounding arrangements before stripping it all back to basics. From here it dissolves into the atmosphere. Organisms then progresses into a break-beat influenced, down tempo track using synths to add complexity to the straight, broken rhythms.

Galactic, futuristic elements are found in both tracks in Cosmic Forces. Upbeat, groovy, electronic synths resonate, before ‘Hidden T’ brings the tension to get things pumped up with stratospheric swirls and twirls to lay down one of the most mind meltingly deep drops.

Metamorphosis is mysterious, its opening beat is a deep and piercing tone that sends the listener into a sensory awareness of their surroundings before breaking into a fully charged, techno track, with Enrico’s trademark sounds and textures.

All evolution has an ending.

Two Probabilities shows the positive, starting out evocative and emotional, with a gentle harmony, gazing towards a ‘New Dawn’. On the other side of the spectrum lies the negative. This is influenced with a rhythm that articulates the beat of death, mathematical, cold and metallic in texture, it shows the unsustainability of its nature, with a hectic, anxious break beat influenced ending.

The digital version also features a bonus track; 'A Further Existence'.
