Foremost international techno outlet Drumcode is delighted to announce the release of its next full-length album, ‘Satellite’, by enduring Italian techno talent Sam Paganini.

Though he has been active since the mid nineties, recent years have been hugely successful for Sam, with searing techno EPs coming on revered labels such as Riche Hawtin’s Plus8, Sven Vath’s Cocoon and of course, Adam Beyer’s Drumcode. In his time he has been responsible for underground hits like ‘Zoe’, ‘Polyester’ and ‘Fire In My Arms’, all of which demonstrate his dynamic understanding of sexy, dark and hypnotic techno grooves and at the same time have earned him plenty of great Beatport chart positions as well as respect from the best in the game.

Incredibly, ‘Satellite’ is Sam’s first full-length album. Informed by his DJ gigs at legendary places like Berghain in Berlin and Cielo in New York, the album starts with a dystopian bit of sonic scene setting, as if a space ship is charging up ready to take off.

From there it’s a case of getting straight down to business. ‘Another Chance’ is a spacey bit of cantering techno and ‘White’ is rooted in devastating kick drums and is riddled with serrated synth lines that build lots of great techno pressure. ‘Down’ is an undulating bit of funky techno complete with choice vocal flourishes and tracks like ‘Lotus’ are prime offerings from the deeper end of the scale.

No two tracks sound the same on Satellite: Sam is always teasing out a new bit of texture, nailing a slightly different vibe or exploring different amounts of light and dark throughout the course of this most excellent album. This is evidenced by diverse cuts like ‘Dusty’, ‘Toxic’ and ‘Rave’.

Despite ‘Satellite’ being Sam’s debut album, it showcases his seductive style in all its glory across 12 fantastic tracks that will leave you begging for more.

'Iyewaye', Oliver Koletzki’s first release after the autobiographical I AM OK album, introduced a new facet of the artist’s sound. The EP catered to a darker and more raw aesthetic, a direction followed and deepened by the four remixes. First up is the title track 'Iyewaye', turned into a lengthy tech infused introspection by Hatzler. Loosely centered around the initial vocals, Loco & Jam’s makeover explores the track’s captivating snappy narrative. The more rhythm focused 'Ipuza' gets a special treatment from Hidden Empire who dial up the aggression of the percussion. Zakari & Blange downplay the track’s initial exotic elements, focusing on the rattling synths and giving it a late-night dancefloor rework.

Oliver Koletzki – Iyéwaye (Hatzler Remix) [Full Track]

It was in 2014 when a mutual friend introduced me to Victor Ruiz while he was staying here in Berlin. I invited Victor to my studio where we had a fantastic session, playing our music to each other, listening to stuff we like and simply talkin and connecting. Since then, we became close friends as well as starting to work together. Victor has released two outstanding EPs on Electric Ballroom by now. This summer we met again and recorded three tracks. The result is our first joint EP, of which I am very proud. (Thomas Schumacher, November 2015)

Hamburg based producer Hatzler’s EP is crafted to keep the dancefloor moving, with two original tracks and two remixes. ‘SkyT’ unfolds with a rolling groove that ascends abruptly into a throbbing, trance-inducing piece peppered with cavernous synth pads. ‘KreaT’ lays down hard hitting thumps from the get-go, doling out an undulating synth with whirring atmospherics. It’s these whirs that end up combining harmoniously with the swirling synth hook, leading to a highly anticipated peak time release. For his ‘SkyT’ remix, Sian amps up the theatrics, giving the track a dramatic dimension by infusing it with spacious reverb. Where Sian went down a more theatrical avenue, Ruiz plays down the emotion.  Victor Ruiz’ take on ‘SkyT’ is a more stripped down approach, minimizing the elements and keeping the focus on the rolling bassline.

Hatzler - SkyT (Victor Ruiz Remix) [Snippet]

Senso boss Oliver Huntemann first released the original version of Magnet in 2011 as a part of his Paranoia LP on Ideal Audio. A few years later, Brazil’s leading underground techno light Victor Ruiz reworked the track into an unofficial bootleg, which since had been rinsed by Ruiz, Huntemann and a slew of top DJs around the world. Such was its effect on the dance-floor, it’s now finally receiving an official release via Senso in a slightly updated version. The track itself is a lesson in tough, driving techno - unrelenting in its mission, yet infused with layers of subtlety and deeply funky beeps, squelches and effects. It’s a machine-funk monster, and it’s easy to see why the bootleg clocked up over 225,000 listens on Soundcloud.

Do you believe in conincidences?

I don’t - anymore. I used to believe in conincidences but I’ve learned that everything happens for a reason. And that everything in life happens for you, not to you.

So, I have been busying myself with the idea of an remix album of classic tracks of mine for quite some time. But I struggled with the selection of tracks and which remix artist to pair with which track.  Until certain people entered my life. Some of them I only „met“ through their music on social media and never in person, others I met briefly, like in a car to a festival and some I started to hang out with and they became real life friends. All of these people connect with my music and I feel drawn to their music and in many ways we insprire each other.  As a natural result this remix EP took shape and I am excited to present it to you. The record contains four remixes of tracks from my back catalogue that cover a period of 20 (!) years, from my early days on Bush in the mid 90s to my first label Spiel-Zeug Schallplatten in the 00`s up until now, where I run Electric Ballroom from Berlin. Filth on Acid is excited to welcome Cari Golden for a new collaboration with label honcho Reinier Zonneveld. "Bending The End" is the second track they recorded together and the follow up of the enormous hit "Things We Might Have Said", which was one of the biggest electronic hits of 2016.

That being said, Cari and Reinier wanted to bring something new to the table and started with a white canvas when composing "Bending The End", and because of that they ended up taking a totally different direction. This time the track comes in two variations, the melody centred original mix and a dancefloor orientated 4AM mix. 

The original mix starts out with a throbbing, deep Moog bassline, and a round, deep bassdrum, while at the same time blending soft, haunting effects and a fragmented, distorted melody. Cari Golden's voice, deep and beautiful, comes in and sets the mood for a hypnotic slow burner. The bassline initiates a subtle chord progression and delicate production skills elevate the mood of the track. Powerful but stripped back drum programming along with short bursts of white noise bring impact for the dancefloor. A long breakdown starts the orchestra by three of the big classic synths - Oberheim, Moog and Juno - and pave the road for unimpeachable ear candy with Cari's angel like voice as the centerpoint of the attention. All the elements come together and form an indisputable peak; without building up too obvious. In the vein of bending the end to the beginning again, the track's outro ends as it started: deep and delicate. The second version in the package - 4AM Mix - has a definite peaktime feel to it. Powerful driving drums and a heavy bed of sub bass kick lead the way to the introduction of looped elements of Cari's voice. Colossal, bassy stabs hint to original in a disrobed way. Long synth notes lying somewhere between bass and melody introduce the harmonies of the original during the breakdowns and translate it to demanding dancefloors in a profound way.

PREMIERE: Reinier Zonneveld & Cari Golden - Bending The End (Original Mix)

Drumcode has become a label synonymous with some of the most-cutting edge and forward-thinking techno over the last 20 years. Their artists include both emerging and established names, and one of those well recognised is Enrico Sangiuliano. Now announcing the very first concept album of his career.

The prolific Italian producer has been catapulted into the limelight after the runaway success of his past releases, and now Biomorph is born. 

A very special concept album designed to take the listener on a journey of evolution. A musical adaptation describing how biological and technological advances over numerous generations of time have all started from the same first step in our own biological journey.

Divided into 4 parts, Organisms opens with atmospheric tones, gradually blending complex textures and timbres to begin the evolutional process. The beginning of this section combines full sounding arrangements before stripping it all back to basics. From here it dissolves into the atmosphere. Organisms then progresses into a break-beat influenced, down tempo track using synths to add complexity to the straight, broken rhythms.

Galactic, futuristic elements are found in both tracks in Cosmic Forces. Upbeat, groovy, electronic synths resonate, before ‘Hidden T’ brings the tension to get things pumped up with stratospheric swirls and twirls to lay down one of the most mind meltingly deep drops.

Metamorphosis is mysterious, its opening beat is a deep and piercing tone that sends the listener into a sensory awareness of their surroundings before breaking into a fully charged, techno track, with Enrico’s trademark sounds and textures.

All evolution has an ending.

Two Probabilities shows the positive, starting out evocative and emotional, with a gentle harmony, gazing towards a ‘New Dawn’. On the other side of the spectrum lies the negative. This is influenced with a rhythm that articulates the beat of death, mathematical, cold and metallic in texture, it shows the unsustainability of its nature, with a hectic, anxious break beat influenced ending.

The digital version also features a bonus track; 'A Further Existence'.
