ਸੂਧੇ ਸੂਧੇ ਰੇਗਿ ਚਲਹੁ ਤੁਮ ਨਤਰ ਕੁਧਕਾ ਦਿਵਈਹੈ ਰੇ ॥1॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Walk the straight path; otherwise, you will be pushed around. ||1||Pause||
ਬਾਰੇ ਬੂਢੇ ਤਰੁਨੇ ਭਈਆ ਸਭਹੂ ਜਮੁ ਲੈ ਜਈਹੈ ਰੇ ॥
The children, the young and the old, O Siblings of Destiny, will be taken away by the Messenger of Death.
ਮਾਨਸੁ ਬਪੁਰਾ ਮੂਸਾ ਕੀਨੋ ਮੀਚੁ ਬਿਲਈਆ ਖਈਹੈ ਰੇ ॥1॥
The Lord has made the poor man a mouse, and the cat of Death is eating him up. ||1||
ਧਨਵੰਤਾ ਅਰੁ ਨਿਰਧਨ ਮਨਈ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਕਾਨੀ ਰੇ ॥
It gives no special consideration to either the rich or the poor.
ਰਾਜਾ ਪਰਜਾ ਸਮ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਰੈ ਐਸੋ ਕਾਲੁ ਬਡਾਨੀ ਰੇ ॥2॥
The king and his subjects are equally killed; such is the power of Death. ||2||
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਏ ਤਿਨ੍‍ ਕੀ ਕਥਾ ਨਿਰਾਰੀ ਰੇ ॥
Those who are pleasing to the Lord are the servants of the Lord; their story is unique and singular.
ਆਵਹਿ ਨ ਜਾਹਿ ਨ ਕਬਹੂ ਮਰਤੇ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਸੰਗਾਰੀ ਰੇ ॥3॥
They do not come and go, and they never die; they remain with the Supreme Lord God. ||3||
ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਕਲਤ੍ਰ ਲਛਿਮੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਇਹੈ ਤਜਹੁ ਜੀਅ ਜਾਨੀ ਰੇ ॥
Understand this that you have to rise above the living which is only dedicated to his son, wife & wealth.
ਕਹਤ ਕਬੀਰੁ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਰੇ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਮਿਲਿਹੈ ਸਾਰਿਗਪਾਨੀ ਰੇ ॥4॥1॥

One could be such a person only after getting sacrificed for truth and contentment and by eschewing delusions and fears.             The true disciple is a boughten slave who is ever busy in the service of the Master.                                                                         He forgets hunger, sleep, food and rest.                                          He grinds fresh flour (for free kitchen) and serves by fetching water.                                                                                                    He fans (the congregation) and washes nicely the feet of the Guru.                                                                                                   The servant always remains disciplined and has nothing to do with wailing and laughing.                                                                        This way he becomes dervish at the door of the Lord and gets drenched in the delights of the rains of love.                                  He will be seen as the first moon of Id day (which the Muslims eagerly wait for in order to break their long fasts), and only he will come out as a perfect man.
