Recorded in Tirin on November 8, 1966. 

These recordings were made by Hiromi Lorraine Sakata and Tom Sakata between August 1966 and July 1967 in Afghanistan. They are excerpted from several larger field recording collections that Hiromi Lorraine Sakata deposited at the UW Ethnomusicology Archives in Seattle. In the early 1970s Hiromi Lorraine Sakata published excerpts from these recordings on two LPs with Lyrichord (LLST 7230 and LLST LLST 7231). J’ai la chance d’exercer le métier de mes rêves : sillonner le monde et chanter. Mais je pars parfois le cœur lourd. Je me dis juste « si je pouvais… ». Si je pouvais rester auprès de vous, vous voir grandir, vous entendre rire, sauter à ma rencontre quand je rentre le soir. J’ai le cœur serré surtout quand Marie me regarde du seuil de la porte et qu’elle me dit « Papa, emmène-moi ! ». Si je pouvais… Mais tel est mon sort : partir, arpenter les chemins, faire mon métier, sacrifier à ma passion. Penser à vous me donne du courage et la force de continuer. Pour vous, pour votre avenir. Vous occupez mes pensées constamment, de mon départ jusqu’à l’heure de nos retrouvailles. 
I’m lucky to have the job of my dreams, to travel the world singing. But sometimes I go with a heavy heart. I just say to myself “If I could...” If I could stay with you, watch you grow up, hear you laugh, see you jump for joy when I come home in the evening. My heart sinks especially when Marie watches me from the doorstep and says “Daddy take me with you”. If I could... But this is my fate, Leave, travel far and wide, do my job, sacrifice everything for my passion. I think of you who give me the courage and strength to continue. For you, for your future. You’re always in my thoughts from the moment I leave until I return.

Cover photo- Nyibu Mudang Pai is a ritual specialist and a indigenous doctor from the Apatani tribe of Arunachal Pradesh, India. He is from Mudang Tage village 

Talo played by - Christopher Michi Tajo from Bamin Michi village in Ziro valley. Talo is a brass plate which was historically played with mallets made from bamboo, wild mushroom and wood. 

Chantung Tani is another name for Abo Tani the first Tani man. Apatani people regard him to be their first ancestor. 

The masses singing Ho in chorus is an example of the procession Apatanis partake in during MURUN. The procession is better known as Penñ procession.

Für die Ewigwachgebliebenen zum Feierabendbier, für die Frühaufsteher als Seelenfutter zum Wochenbeginn: Montagssorbet mit Laut & Luise. Alles erlaubt, was gut tut und Gedanken kreisen lässt, nur der Name ist Programm: cremig, fluffig und ganz schön weich.

Zwischen straff getaktetem Releasetrouble und wild-metaphorischer Wüstenstapferei, schickt sich dieser Montag als allzu angebracht an ein wenig zu verschnaufen (jess). @KeralaDust ist nicht nur gut mit schönen Tönen, eben auch dem guten Ton: Wohl maniert – wie in: gute Manieren – steht die Türe offen zum privaten Wohnzimmerkonzert. Wie die Prinzessin auf dem Sandkorn legen wir uns mal wieder auf den Läufer und lauschen dieser Wüste, der wir eigentlich noch fremd sind.
