Beaming Rays EP - Barbara Pleaser Press Release

“Beaming Rays” is a debut EP released by Barbara Pleaser; a reimagining of universe where feelings and euphoria are celebrated. A sonic experience of feminine and masculine energy the way that it is in a detached understanding from what those energies ‘supposed’ to sound like. Childlike and hopeful as a catharsis of a heavy reality that we have to face daily. 

“Beaming Rays” explores the range of this euphoria through ambiance sounds to club tracks that a ‘trance sound’ had and could produce. The sonic experience is built through nostalgia of the early 2000s gaming sound, glitching samples, and the dominant presence of melody and harmony - intertwining with everyday references of the life that Barbara Pleaser had to face. Sounds that are rich and maximalist, like how the body reacts to beaming rays of light - whether it’s the sun rays or the artificial strobe lights inside of the club.

With the simplicity of bedroom-producing, “Beaming Rays” is trying to captivate the daily world surrounding Barbara Pleaser through 4 tracks. They are somewhat sorrowful, yet an aggressive powerful osmosis - to seek comfort in, through the many layers of harmonizing and the erratic changing of beat patterns. These tracks are accumulation of synesthesias from tableau of a catharsis: How it feels like to live a reality of a local trying to find safety through liminal space in today’s generation, that is far from being acknowledged through the many layers of complexity of the metropolitan life in one of gentrified islands in Southeast Asia. Yet, instead of focusing on how miserable life can be, “Beaming Rays” exudes to a world building where people can romanticize the naive little things in life as a form of liberation instead of a form of escapism.

Beaming Rays

Indonesian electronic music producer dj basiccc is back with his highly anticipated second EP, following his debut release "Waterproof" in 2021. The upcoming EP consists of four tracks, each showcasing dj basiccc's evolving sound and creative exploration within the realms of jungle, footwork, and electronic club music. With this new EP, dj basiccc continues to push boundaries, blending past inspirations with contemporary electronic sounds. Listeners can expect a dynamic range of influences, from footwork to jungle, with nods to world's traditional musical heritage.
